Great atmosphere in this upscale restaurant. Really cool interior! Got lucky with the last unreserved table. Pretty upscale menu and lots of menu options. Ordered the lobster bisque to start. Pretty delicious; pricey but delicious. I ordered a Bouillabaise of North Sea Fish with Shrimp and mussels. The dish was amazing only surprised by the size of the shrimp. I think those were too small; so just keep in mind when you order!! My colleague had the charcoal grilled beef tenderloin and enjoyed it. Overall, food was delicious but in my opinion overpriced. Lovely spot in a converted factory. Nice varied menu of modern Belgian food. Lots of oysters and fish. Great beer, of course. I had the Tripel Karmielite. Smoked Salmon app was delicious but I would have served a nice simple sauce with it. Then the pork knuckle from the oven- a main big enough for two, really. Yum.

What is all the fuss? I'm extremely disappointed during my visit here. I had high hopes after finding out about it by the positive reviews of others as well as coming recommended via the Michelin Guide. Midweek, without a reservation I tried my luck and boy was I excited when they said yes, they had a table! The venue is so impressive, lots of character and much larger than I expected. Unfortunately, it all slowly started to go down hill, the table was in fact right beside the door, as people were coming, going, settling up their bill, etc. it just wasn't ideal. Yep, I know someone has to sit there! After being seated for roughly 5mins we were finally presented menus, after reading it for about 5 or so mins, we were ready to order... Shame the waiters weren't ready, we lingered for about another 10 mins before our order was taken. We ordered drinks; 2 different reds when they arrived at the table both were put side by side at the edge of the table, not placed beside us or at least tell us which wine is which. Food was very slow then making it's way to us, when it arrived, agree it looked great. I had the Steak Limousine which sounds great on the menu, taste wise, not so great. Very salty sauce and the cold cabbage side, the cuts were large/too thick which made it not so pleasant to eat or at least not when pairing it with the steak. Hey, they may have been going for texture but it wasn't right. The steak, also wasn't as tender as I was expecting, very chewy which at medium, it should have been much more tender and easy to easy. Having finished eating, it was a good 15mins before anyone came to clear our plates away, dessert menu was not forthcoming and already, as a lunch we were there over 1hr 30mins having just had one course and with the service being so lacklustre we decided to not ask for the dessert menu and instead skip. Even with plates cleared, we have no staff come by asking if we wanted to see dessert menu or collect the bill, etc... We had to flag someone down, asked for our bill and oh no, here we go again... Waiting! In the end, we took the bill when it finally arrived and paid directly at the till, couldn't bare another wait whilst they flat around looking for the card machine! Whilst only a visitor to this area, I wouldn't be recommending this place nor looking to return.

    Lambic beer, try one!

Beautiful restaurant, good food. My wife and I came here for dinner. We shared a warm goat cheese salad that was delicious. I had the chicken fricasee, which was just ok, a little on the bland side. I almost never order chicken, but had had beef and lamb the past two nights. My wife's fish special was excellent. Pollock, salmon, and bream all fresh from the North Sea. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake with specious crust which was also quite good. Pakhuis has a small variety of beers, and I was happy to try a lambic beer (geuze boon) that was also really good.

The beers here are amazing with over 20+ on tap there is something for everyone - and some must try Trappist beers. I absolutely loved this spot. Only reason for not having 5 stars? The service. Although the place was relatively crowded, it was not very crazy at all especially when we first came in after opening and the staff behind the bar were kind of rude. I asked for a flight and they seemed annoyed they had to make one instead of just pouring 1 beer, and i was reading the menu and didn't have all my numbers ready to fire off - more upset. Additionally, my wife and I sat down at the bar about 1 hour after the place opened and we both had glass all over our chairs and now in our bottoms. The bartender was annoyed when my wife asked him to clean it - he said some glass thing exploded there before opening... so you didn't clean it? And then were annoyed customers had glass in their pants? make that make sense.

When we arrived around 9pm on a Monday night, it was already fairly full and quickly became packed. This is a bar with a vast selection of beers, both on tap and in bottles, making it an easy spot to linger and sample Belgian brews. The atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit, especially if you're looking for a memorable and distinctly Bruges bar experience.

Friendly and helpful service, just wish it wasn't a pain to get to without a car.

OK not so much the chanting part but I think you get the picture I was seeing in my head. What a shock when we finally arrived (after about an hour drive from Brugge) and found a sleek, angular and thoroughly modern taproom and restaurant! Well for sure the ages old Abbey is around somewhere? Nope. Though we couldn't get a tour we saw many photos all showing very modern and classy facilities, including their worship spaces. Mind blown, but in amazing way. These Monks have totally embraced the modern times and they've produced a really nice facility with some wonderful grounds as well. What about the beer? , Yes, yes we weren't on an architecture tour we were here for the beer. And boy it sure didn't disappoint. There's a reason the Westvleteren XII was rated the best beer in the world a few years back and luckily we got to taste through the line-up the 12, the 8 and the Blonde! It should be mentioned that the food was quite good as well and despite the continuous stream of people strolling in to deplete the days supply of available "to go" six packs it was quite a pleasant and relaxing experience. (TIP: if you want take some home with you you better get there when they open and buy your six packs first thing. DO NOT wait until after you eat to buy the beer, I saw the days allotted pallet get cleared out in the time it took us to eat lunch:-) As I sit here months removed from my visit, staring at the last bottle of Westvleteren Blond that I schlepped through Europe and finally got home, I think that I've got to get back to Belgium and Westvletren and I envy any and all of you who are on your way there :-)

Once we got the beer we were told that we needed to order the food at the table. We were able to find a table on the back in a sunny spot which was perfect. We waited for a while and we kept trying to get the attention of the waitress. We kept making excuses for her because she looked like she was having a bad day and she was the only one for all the tables. We were finally able to wave her over and she came and put in our order for fries and mayo. A few moments later she brough them out and we were thrilled! The first were elite level fries. They were thick cut, freshly fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Safe to say we accomplished the mission of the fries. The beer was perfectly cold and crisp and it was the perfect pair after spending the morning doing a walking tour. Overall, the food and the beer what phenomenal the service was nothing to write home about but the ambience made up for it. Must at least stop by for fries and beer if you are ever in the city.
