Excellent food and large portions. We accidentally arrived at the rush hour (1 PM) so we had to wait almost an hour, though. Try the beers (eg Hertog Jan Bockbier). read more

Pros: - The Grill. - The herb butter. - The specials. And since I am a sucker for locally produced ingredients I must recommend more than any other item the 21 days dry aged entrecôte "De Betuwe". - Grilled Tuna with coriander mayo is the way to go when choosing from the fish menu! - Nice and accommodating staff but when packed the service slows up...but still forgiveable as well as forgettable! Cons: - 3 Course menu could offer beef! - Cosy but tend to be very noisy. - Pork is so so here: having it on the 3 course menu it has been tested by friends a lot and sometimes it is dry.

However, it was super cramped as the tables are packed way too closely together. It wouldn't have been so bad if the food made up for this, but the food was simply okay for the price paid. Nothing especially good, nothing especially bad. About as average as it gets. Servers were friendly, though. If you're here with a group of friend, I do recommend getting the "Borrelplank van de Markt" or the "Mixed Platter" to share. You get to try some local bites this way. The difference is that the mixed platter also contains fried foods. This place came highly recommended by our tour guide. Had I just been walking through on my own, I definitely would not have stopped here. If you walk down this street, you'll understand why -- there are just so many other options to choose from.

My smoked pigeon starter was a bit dry. Though the cod was prepared very well (moist, flaky and well seasoned), the skin could have been crunchier. The dessert was quite tasty but a bit disjointed. They were always respected for their authentic way of cooking foods, prepared with diligence and French finesse. I have not had a bad meal in all the years we have eaten there. They always make you feel special and have a lovely selection of wines and cocktails. This last time we sat next to the window to the kitchen: really fun as an aspiring cook to see how they run it.
