Nice little sandwichy place in Waterford. Not the best, not the worst, but a good place to get lunch.

When your guide book says go to here and Yelp says to go here then you should probably go check it…read moreout. Bodega was a highlight meal for us on our road trip of Ireland. I went for the fish and chips and some soup. I can't recall what kind of soup it was, I want to say cauliflower (I had a lot of soup on the trip). I remember it being quite good and very flavorful. The fish and chips blew my mind though. Both the guide book and the reviews recommended it and I can see why. I'm not a big seafood guy, but when you are in a country that does it well you must try it. I had a lot of fish and chips on this trip, and this was by far the best I've ever had. I don't even really like seafood and I would order this again and again given the option. It was perfectly cooked, the crust was just thick enough, and it had such a delicious flavor. I had to fight my mom and husband from taking it all off my plate. The service was spotty but ok. Our waitress didn't really speak English and had a hard time understanding what we wanted. The bartender/head waitress did a good job of stepping in and helping when needed, but still giving the girl a chance to learn. I don't think our meal suffered in anyway because of the new waitress learning the ropes. If you find yourself in Waterford you would be doing yourself a disservice by not going here. Even you if you aren't hungry, go here still. 90/100

Only downside was the smokers right near the table, but that was intermittent. They do a Prix Fixe before 6:15 on weekends which is a good deal. Try this one!

The Wicklow Heather Restaurant -- Glendalough Road, Laragh, Co. Wicklow A98 D983…read moreVisited: June 2026 Five stars. The Wicklow Heather is the best restaurant in the Wicklow Mountains, and a meal here is as much a part of the Glendalough experience as the ancient monastic site itself. Why The Wicklow Heather is the essential County Wicklow dining destination: Over 50 years in operation and still at the top of its game. This family-run restaurant in the village of Laragh -- minutes from Glendalough -- has earned its place as the go-to dining destination for visitors to the Wicklow Mountains National Park, and one visit explains exactly why. TripAdvisor's #1-ranked restaurant in Laragh with over 2,590 reviews, it has been nominated for Best Restaurant in Wicklow -- accolades it genuinely deserves. The food is exceptional and authentically Irish. The slow-cooked venison shank is absolutely incredible -- a dish that showcases the kitchen's commitment to quality local ingredients and traditional long-cooked techniques. The lamb's rump delivers outstanding flavor. The Full Heather breakfast -- free-range eggs, dry-cured bacon, sausages, black and white pudding, roast vine tomatoes, and grilled sourdough -- is one of the great Irish breakfasts. The Irish stew is, simply, something else entirely. All dishes are freshly prepared with locally sourced, organic produce where possible. The atmosphere is the perfect counterpart to a day in the Wicklow Mountains: warm, cozy, rustic, charming, and deeply Irish. Condé Nast Traveler calls the vibe "rustic-kitsch" and the service "like you're a local" -- both accurate. The wine list is well-curated with a fine champagne and sparkling selection, and the cocktail menu is worth exploring. For anyone asking where to eat near Glendalough, where to find the best Irish food in County Wicklow, or what to do on a day trip from Dublin to Wicklow -- eat here. The Wicklow Heather is not just a restaurant; it is part of the Irish countryside experience.

The owner approached us and requested that we leave out table as it was required. We pointed out the empty tables but to avoid a scene we got up and moved to another table beside the one we were sitting at. We all thought this was UNACCEPTABLE. We asked what compensation there was for this behaviour. There was nothing on offer. I have to say we were shocked and despite sending an email to Emilianos we have not heard a word or any acknowledgement of what the great need was to remove us from our table to accommodate 4 young people. We felt very much used and abused at the attitude. IT WAS NOT BUSY IN THE RESTAURANT. We didn't know and were not made aware that they needed the table but they had no problem ousting us to a nearby table several of which were vacant at that time. I would like an apology from Emilianos for treating us as if we truly did not matter. It is great having lovely food but if you cannot be treated with dignity and respect WHAT IS THE POINT. Our friends from Spain could not believe what was happening that we had to move to accommodate four youngsters. It was an experience that none of us are likely to forget. Emiliano would do well to remember that if you have a good experience you tell approximately 2-3 others but if you have a bad experience it is anyting from 15 up. Being treated as if we did not matter was a truly bad experience. Regards Cummins family
