We were greeted upon arrival by a really friendly member of staff who let us leave our bags behind reception while we went exploring, as we had arrived before check in time. When we returned, one the most enthusiastic and welcoming people met us and showed us our room and gave us some great tips on where were the best places to eat near by. A big thumbs up! The rooms position within the hotel was a little odd as we were directly off the main dining area, but there was a stair way that took us away from the noise and gave us privacy thank god! The room was perfectly adequate, the only real problem was the towels could have been bigger; which for me is pretty good as i find problems with everything! I would definitely without question stay here again in a heart beat and the price we paid online was very reasonable!

The rooms are really comfortable. We had a room with two twins, a bathroom with a whirlpool tub, and a small sitting area. Breakfast was served everyday from 8:30-9:30 and is made to order. I had the full English one day and the Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon another day. Both were excellent. It's really quiet at night. We had two neighbors in our corridor and not once did we hear them! They also have an indoor pool on premises but we didn't partake. I would totally stay here again!

It is very centrally located to Windermere and Bowness and Mark and Jane were very willing to share ideas of what we could do with our time in the area. They also had very useful walking guide booklets which made our trip unforgettable. a friend of mine from the states and i recently took a short trip to the lakes district. we chose…read moreto spend our night in winderemere at denehurst--and boy, was it the best decision we made! denehurst guest house is a small b&b run by a lovely, charming british couple. running a prize-winning guest house, they told us, has always been their dream. and you can tell! from the tasteful, understated elegance of the decor right down to the chocolate chip biscuits on the tea spread, every detail has been thought about and paid attention to. the beds were cozy, the room impeccable (and huge closets and toilets!), and the breakfast was to-die-for. i'm not sure if i could overstate that last bit, even--may have been the best bacon in all of britain. they have a menu for you to chose what you want for breakfast the night before and will keep feeding you until you're completely stuffed. in addition to tasting amazing, most (if not all!) of your breakfast is locally-sourced, free range, and organic! not only were the accommodations great, but the couple (ken and cindy) attended to our every need. need a ride to/from the train station? want them to check if your restaurant is open and make you a reservation? or how about a recommendation for a lake hike or local restaurant? all this and more given to guests without hesitation or complaint---heck, we didn't even have to ask for all of this help! and speaking of restaurants, they've compiled a binder full of menus and reviews of restaurants they've been to and loved or had consistently good reviews from guests. it was so helpful in deciding where to go for us, that my friend and i both left dinner feeling we'd had the best meal of our year here in the UK, without emptying our wallets! and best of all, this complete package was all for much, much less expensive than any of the other b&bs or hotels we looked at! it may have been ken & cindy's dream to have the perfect little bed and breakfast, but they certainly made our lake district dream come true. :)

This old manor house sits high over Lake Windermere with gorgeous views, beautiful gardens and warm inviting public spaces. Our room was very large and extremely comfortable. The bath room was remodeled to the latest style. If I wanted to pick at something, it would be the too small and tight shower (although with great shower head, adjustable height, good water flow and a hand held option that every hotel should have. Our room was a bit too hot at night as all the rooms are heated at night together with no individual thermostats. There was a fan in the room and we were able to open the windows and cool the room down. The food is another story (and a better one!). It is simply outstanding across the board. The chef, his kitchen staff and the servers are very talented and professional. The breakfast pastries, fruits, cereals and fresh squeezed juices were all terrific. The full English breakfast was the best I've enjoyed anywhere. Our dinners were top shelf. We even had a light snack for dinner after a tiring day and the salads, chips and deserts were as good as the food in the formal dining room! We had an amazing stay and strongly recommend the Linthwaite to anyone visiting the Lake District

As an anniversary treat my partner took me here for afternoon tea over the weekend. We also wanted to have a look at the legendary Lake House which is a mile from the hotel next to its own private lake, with private spa and grounds. We booked in at 5pm for afternoon tea .. A little later than I wanted but it's seems they just serve late afternoon. When we arrived it seems we drew upto a private residence rather than a hotel... which made it more appealing! We were seated quickly in the gorgeous lounge area (if it hadn't have been raining we would have been out on the gorgeous terrace) the whole room oozed class. The coffee table was laid out ready for us and we decided to have cold drinks to start with our savouries. Not a single member of staff went by without seeing if we were ok and needed anything.. attentive isn't the word! So we set up our tour of the lake house after we finished our afternoon tea very quickly! The savouries were frankly delicious. . Sausage and choritzo rolls, egg mayo, roast beef (cooked medium rare.. as it should be) and horseradish, smoked salmon and watercress and ham & wholegrain mustard sandwiches. .. then the most perfect part.. A pot of light, creamy salmon mousse with roasted brioche. Being a savouries person this was the best part and wish there was more ... but as it's afternoon tea we needed to leave space for the cakes. The cakes arrived beautifully presented and obviously made by a master of baking! Toffee and cream profiterole, chocolate slice with many layer of creamy mousse and chocolate ganache.. Victoria slice.. sponge, cream and jam in perfect layers, raspberry cheesecake.. perfectly light and creamy.. The scone was to die for... With all the trimmings. The choice of teas was lacking many fruit teas but only Earl Grey and English Breakfast in traditional teas.. After we finished we drove down to the lake house for a look round... it was classic, beautiful and entirely an elegant way to host a small wedding or special party. I feel this hotel is a little overlooked being just out of the tourist area... but it is a gem. I would love to hire the lake house for exclusive use with a group of friends for a weekend or new year.. All in all a special experience on a special day.. The website is excellent .. another tick!
