Hirschgulasch

Don't let the outside fool you, it is a wonderful neighborhood Brauhaus. The staff did not skip a beat, that we were not native German speakers and finished the meal in English. We sat right down and was treated wonderfully, even had a chat with an adjacent group. It felt like we could have spent the evening there with the company and enjoying one of everything on the menu. We had the Hirschgulosch which is a beef dish with cabbage and noodles and also the Grünk, mettwurst, which is two sausages with kale and potatoes. Those are winter dishes and go well with the house beer. The food was delicious and plentiful, a wonderful experience.

Fantastic Brauhaus. Not as big as some of the brauhaus you'll find in the Aldstadt this one makes up for it in the speed of service and the fantastic busy community vibe you will find. You will never have to wait for your kölsch to be replaced and all the boxes and ticked when it comes to German cuisine as well. The jovial and friendly staff also help with making this place feel alive with buzz. Brauhaus Pütz also has a kölsch we didn't find anywhere else and was one of my favourites, Mühlen Kölsch.

Refillable beers...you say when enough is enough because they keep bringing it!!

Service? Meh. Food? Delicious. Kölsch? Flowing. Atmosphere? Super. This is Cologne at its best. Seriously German.

Good place but note that in 5/22, it is not open Sunday or Monday nights contrary to Yelp. I wanted a second visit.

German home cooking of high quality and good local beer, all at a reasonable price. Nice traditional brew house atmosphere.

We of course ordered Kölsch, which they bring around to drop off full glasses as soon as you finish the last sip of your previous glass.

***5 STAR ONCE IN A LIFETIME PLACE***…read more The pork chop cannot be described with words. It's heavenly. The service is awesome, and the place is packed the minute the doors open. And the ambiance is all German!

Cuisine: 7 Service: 8…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 8 Overall: 8 After reading all the reviews, I had to come here and try this place out. On a Monday around lunch, the backyard was about one third full when we showed up. Everyone looked like they were enjoying their food and drinking Kölsch. Everyone talks about the pork chop, so I had to order it and give my own opinion. This was a solid pork chop and the onions certainly enhanced the dish. Unfortunately, my piece came lukewarm at best and definitely not as juicy as if it would have been right out of the oven. The version I had was good, but not worthy of all the accolades. Other than that, we tried Metthappen (raw pork tartare), which was somewhat bland and mushy. Had to add a lot of salt and pepper for more flavor. With that said, the liverwurst and blood sausage were both excellent. In the end, I did not love the bread, but the pickle was great. Service with a smile, the servers were very kind and patient. They will gladly let you take your time to order while they fill your next glass of Kölsch. If you want them to stop, many people have mentioned, just put your coaster on top of your glass.
