Beautify is a secret I don't actually want to share, but for the benefit of the lovely business…read moreowner I will let the secret out :-) This is my fave salon because: (a) it's out of the way, where you will always get a free car park right out the front (most people don't know about Beautify because it's not inside the bustling Jamison Centre); (b) they do beauty AND HAIR in one place; (c) the prices are reasonable; (d) you get spoilt with gentle, personalised attention, no matter what you have done; (e) they use good-quality products; (f) because it's relatively new and unknown, it's not hard to get an appointment; (g) it's quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Need I say more?? Last week I had my long hair trimmed, after a beautician-standard head massage, and then blow-dried, for just over half of what fancy salons in Civic charge. No loud music. No pressure to colour it or buy products. Today I had a proper pedicure. I say "proper" because those nail salons in the mall do not provide a relaxing, individualised, or dignified experience. I also had my eyelashes "permed" (who knew?) and tinted, which will save me time in the mornings! Five stars from me. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

My experience started with being offered a hand towel, and barista coffee, made in store. Having my hair washed, I was sat in a gorgeous room, stylised like a home cinema - dark walls, a High Def TV playing an Attenborough documentary, and recliners with back massagers. The staff are attentive and caring, making sure that everything they do is right for their client. Using high quality tools, and cutting edge technology, I even felt comfortable having my beard clipped by them. 10/10 experience.

The environment changes for the calmer pretty quickly once you go in. They offer a range of different services but I've mainly used their float tanks. It's organized with everything you need (ear plugs, soaps and towels etc) and the floating experience is pretty good. I've not managed to find a genuinely silent float tank in Australia. It's pretty good but you'll still hear the odd noise through the water if someone's thumping up the bleachers (at least that's what I assume the noise is). Nonetheless a really relaxing place to come, with staff who've always been friendly and helpful.
