    B&B Fence

B&B Fencing Huntsville, AL Notice: This review is not a…read more"AI-generated bunch of fluffy BS" review like we're all starting to see on the inter-web - I personally drafted this in WordPad, and pasted it into this damnable media location ( yes, I'm a grumpy old man). We had 800+ feet of chain-link fence, a 16' double gate, a 12' and an 8' single gate, installed this past April by another local company (which shall remain nameless for legal reasons). We had to have these "other guys" out a few more times to make "corrections" - which they just couldn't do, not without screwing up something else...with their "good-enough" or "that's the way WE do it" attitudes (and the crew couldn't speak or understand English). We were frustrated and fed up, and couldn't see anything EVER being "right" (even with a 1-year warranty on labor). After much research, and wading through the "real" reviews, we called B&B in mid-July; "Can y'all fix this s__t?" After a lengthy review of the obvious problems and proposed solutions, Jentry assured us they could eliminate the humps and sags, and floppy fabric, and too-short / out-of-plumb line-posts, and uneven margins, and loose tension-wire, and fix the gates, and.... "Let's do it." "Ed" and his crew were here, early. We did a quick review of the tasks to be done, and they got to work. All of the line-posts were removed, and replaced with new ones; and this time they were straight, plumb, and a string-line used to cut them to the EXACT height (as opposed to no evidence of a string-line being used by the "other guys"). The loop caps were PROPERLY placed, the old terminal posts were cut to PROPER height and caps set level, the fabric was stretched "TIGHT," and was attached with the industry-recommended number of ties so that there was "half-a-diamond" showing above the top-rail (NOT a whole diamond - give-or-take). The gate posts were re-configured for PROPER spacing of the gates and the provided latches, all of the dug-up rocks and dirt were removed (as opposed to being left where dug up, or strategically hidden about the property, as per the original installer). ALL of this was accomplished in LESS than three days, even when digging the holes BY HAND, and for at least half a day with only two men working, vs. three. When there was any question, we could quickly communicate, confer, and decide. (The previous installer initially took four days, using a tracked machine to dig the holes, and a machine to mix the concrete, and with three men who needed help to understand how to use a drill to drill holes in gate-posts.) B&B's crew, with "Ed" as the foreman, was OUTSTANDING! We're SO pleased with their work - it looks GREAT, and all of the gates close and latch properly now! The owner, Brett, was readily available, and was out to personally inspect the job. If you're needing fencing done RIGHT the first time, you won't regret hiring this outfit to do it. Highly Recommend!

Ed and Steve were very easy to work with and listened to my concerns and made sure I was satisfied with the end results. They were also flexible enough to accommodate a few onsite changes without impacting schedule. Very happy.

It's been almost a year since I had them pour concrete and place rock in my back yard. Literally…read moreevery time I see it, I am angry and feel stupid for going with this company. From the beginning, they were difficult to work with and terrible at scheduling. A 2-3 day job took two weeks and not because of rain but because a $5k job was considered small and want a priority. I basically had to be at home and use annual leave (vacation time) to see if they were showing up. Sometimes they would show up for 1-2 hours and then leave and not say when they were coming back, if they were coming back that day. The "manager" wasn't there so I was directing the workers what to do. If I wasn't outside where they were, they did whatever was the easiest which was usually wrong and not fixable. I will never suggest this company to anyone. Either the management was incompetent, liars, or lazy. Maybe a bit of all three. Biggest regret of homeownership the past 5 years.

I contracted with them to do drainage work, a sprinkler system and landscape lighting. I was told this would take 3 weeks to complete, with each phase occurring on consecutive weeks. The project as a whole took almost 12 weeks to complete, and this was only because I hounded them with calls multiple times per week. The drainage work was the first part, it seemed to be fine, though the French drain was not placed the complete length that was discussed originally. Also the fingers of river rich were put in to stop erosion, but almost no grass seed was put in afterwards, so nothing but weeds grew in between the river rock. The second piece was the sprinkler system. This was put in during a day, but the ground was not backfilled properly and they needed to come back out to fix it. We were told that they would put down grass seed after the lighting job was completed. The lighting work was not completed for another 8 weeks, and there wasn't any seed put down afterwards. They were also supposed to aerate and oversees the lawn, but since they could not get their mower into our backyard, they told us they would come back with a smaller mower to pull the aerator later. This never happened. I had to call them 2-3 times a week for 8 weeks to get them to complete the lighting. Part of it was landscape lighting, the other portion was putting in a fan and spotlight in/on our screened patio. The wiring was placed so shallow, that it came out of the ground within a week and they had to come back to fix. The light and fan was supposed to be put in by an electrician, but was just put in by the owner and his friend. They put a cheap conduit over the electrical wire that didn't even cover the wire. They sent an electrician out to fix the wiring, but he just rigged another kind of conduit on the bare wire to cover it up. The uplighting for the trees was sold to us at $65 a light. I just found the lights online for $45 for a 4-pack of lights. We just gave up with this company and figured we would just be stuck with this work. Over the last year, I kept burying and covering up the wire as it came out of the ground and have been trying to repair the grass in the area where they did sprinkler and drainage work. We are still fighting massive weeds from the lack of follow through on planting grass after their work was completed. I am writing this review today after I just finished replacing 3 lights that stopped working and half of the wiring that was put in for the landscape lights. Turns out they believe that wire nuts are not necessary and you only need to tape wires together with electrical tape before putting it in the ground. If you are looking for a company to do landscaping work for you, stay very far away from this company. You will only be sorry if you choose them.
