Having a stove and microwave in the room is a good bonus. But, there are a few distractions. First, room is a bit dusty and both my daughter and I suffered from some allergies (the symptoms abated once we left our room). I almost never get allergies, so there's something odd here. Second, I called the desk with an issue they said they'd call me right back, but they never did. Third, the king-sized bed is 2 smaller beds joined together, so the center of the bed is not comfortable. Fourth, the bathroom door isn't flush with the frame by about a centimeter, so people can peek in and see you doing your business. More annoying, the shower door is also off by a centimeter (see picture), so the bathroom floor is usually flooded after a shower. In summary, it's not a creepy grungy motel, but there are definitely better places and I probably wouldn't stay here again.

They have great relations with this hotel and we keep coming back. We arrived from the airport and they allowed all 70 of us to store our bags in a room. Very helpful. The views were absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were spacious, BEAUTIFUL kitchen, two bathrooms, great design. In love. Found out they had a brunch buffet downstairs. Took advantage of that one morning. Unfortunately on this trip, I got the stomach flu and wasn't feeling too hot. I asked for an extension for check out. They gave me a 2 hour extension and I was very grateful. The one thing that I didn't like was that there wasn't free wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby. We had to pay. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering to stay in Melbourne!

On days there was no coffee I was offered espresso or cappuccino from the adjoining coffee shop? How does that even make any sense? You can bring me coffee from next door but can't manage a pot from within your own kitchen? Scrambled eggs were runny and over easy eggs were stacked up on each other. Everything was lukewarm, even the hot water. Nice selection of bread to toast though... Housekeeping put clean dishes I had washed from the drain board into the dishwasher with dirty dishes, which would've been nice if they were all dirty. But even then how about turning it on then? Or how about cleaning the bathroom counters and floors? Very strange. The housekeeping women was as nice as she could be when I asked for towels or detergent, but I had to go to her closet with her to show her what I meant since she didn't speak English. Wi fi was costly but I bought it anyway, I think it was 14.95/day, but not sure since I bought for 3 days for $40. It was very slow but it suited my needs. But I guess Travelodge in Melbourne is way better than the US ones. Over the next 5 days, we saw huge groups (probably Asian tour groups?) that were in the lobby. I personally was surprised at the sheer amount of people in this hotel. This place has 13 floors, but starts on floor 3. Floor 4 is for business meetings+breakfast, so I guess all the rooms are floors 5-13? I guess. Anyways, if you got in early like we did, you can check in your bag and they'll put it in storage for you if need be. In the lobby, there are "computer stations" that were all out of order, a couple sofas that you could sit on while waiting or passing the time, and some fruit infused water. The service here? Erm, it depends on the time. When it gets backed up, it'll take a while to get through. No line? Service is fast. I guess that's the same everywhere HAHA. Anyways, the room they have is tiny. Teeny tiny. We were in a room for two people. There are about 2-3 feet separating the twin size beds. They have a table on the far side of the room w/ an internet connection (btw, you get a free 100mbps wifi per room- after that you pay $10 AUD for more). There's a sofa in the room as well, a TV, microwave and refrigerator. Something different here is they had plates and utensils as well in a cabinet. Coffee maker with tea as well. In the bathroom, you have a few places to stand in, but it's also tiny as well. Small shower, toilet behind door. Merp. I guess they make do with what they have. It's decent for the price? I guess but I don't know what average prices in Melbourne are haha. You can also choose to pay $19AUD for breakfast per person, located on the 4th floor. They have congee/porridge, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages, baked beans, tomatoes/mushrooms, pancakes as their main meals. They have bread + English muffin, pastries, muffins, yogurt, boiled eggs as well. Vegemite? Have that. Australian honey, PB, jelly,a lot of variety there. They have apple/apple currant juice, orange juice, water, milk, 2 coffee machines, tea on the far side, along with 4 types of cereals. They have mentos mints in the front to take on your way out. The hotel was alright, but as a place just to sleep and eat breakfast, it fit the need. This is located really close to Ethiad Stadium, where they have their football/rugby games at. I chose…read morethis hotel mainly because of its close proximity to Melbourne Park for the Australian Open. But being located in the central business district (CBD), the hotel is also near plenty of restaurants, cafes, the free city circle tram stop, and Federation Square. ROOM -- $112 per night summer rate for a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom was a good deal. The room had a large, comfy, and clean queen-sized bed, a bedside stand, a wide flat screen TV, a glass table with two chairs, a fan, and a mini fridge. But everything was cramped, with little space for maneuvering. The bathroom floor was always wet because the shower didn't have a divider to separate it from the toilet. Water temperature varied a lot, often too cold. AMENITIES -- For such a simple and basic hotel, there were still a lot of amenities offered. A hair dryer was available for a $10 refundable deposit. A DVD player with movie rentals was available for a $2 refundable deposit. There were two desktop computers with a printer for guests to use. Free wifi was available, but it was really slow. An upper level shared kitchen and rooftop garden were free to use as well. The reception also helped book day tours to Phillips Island or the Great Ocean Road. LOCATION -- Located in CBD, the hotel is easy walking distance to Federation Square, Melbourne Park, and Flinders Station (all around 10-15 minutes). It's a little longer of a walk to Queen Victoria Market (close to 25 minutes). There's several bars and late night restaurants along Little Collins St and Meyers Place, so the noise of people disposing empty glass bottles at 2am and the recycling truck picking it up at 5am can be problematic if you're a light sleeper. STAFF -- Reception was nice and friendly. Check in starts at 2pm and you're given the option of being charged in AUD or your home currency. Check out is 10am latest, and it was a quick process. Reception desk is only open from 7:30am to 7:30pm, so outside of those hours, you'll need to punch in a code at the main door or call the after hours phone number if locked out of your room. Overall, our stay at CCBH was pleasant. I arrived knowing how cheap and rundown the place was going to be, but I was surprised at how nice (relative to the price paid) the hotel actually was. They also have rooms with shared bathroom facilities for slightly cheaper rates, so CCBH is actually a cross between a hotel and a hostel. I recommend bringing ear plugs and requesting a room that doesn't face the main streets. Also, the hotel doesn't have a lift, so you'll need to carry your luggage up either one or two flights of stairs.
