I learned about his services during Covid when he hosted in-person presentations for small groups of socially-distanced and masked people, then offered his services at a discount to attendees. I now have a living trust and peace of mind. Even though that was years ago, I still get his quarterly newsletter with updates on changes in the law impacting seniors. Go see him. You'll be glad you did.

I understand that Mr. Ward represented my father and not me, and I fully respect that distinction. My review is based solely on my own experience and observations as a family member directly affected by significant changes involving my parents' estate plan. Given the complexity of our family circumstances and the significance of the changes being made, I expected an exceptionally careful and thorough process. After learning of the changes, I requested an opportunity to meet with Mr. Ward to address my questions and concerns. Mr. Ward refused to meet with me. While I recognize that I was not his client and that he had no obligation to disclose privileged communications, I was not asking him to reveal confidential information. I wanted an opportunity to raise questions and provide relevant information concerning circumstances that directly affected my parents and their estate plan. His refusal to meet with me only added to my concerns about how the situation had been handled. I came away from this experience with serious concerns and many unanswered questions about the process surrounding these significant changes. The consequences for our family have been profound. Relationships have been severely damaged, and what should have provided clarity and security for my parents and their family instead became a source of tremendous conflict, causing additional and unnecessary stress. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Mr. Ward for a family dealing with a complicated or contentious estate-planning situation. Anyone considering substantial changes to an existing trust should ask detailed questions about the attorney's process and make certain they fully understand the consequences before signing anything. This review reflects my personal experience and opinion regarding a matter that has had an enormous impact on my family.

Since the 2 stars (which equates to the "[service] could've been better") were due to the unprofessionalism and inattentiveness shown (not due to her being an LDA), I have no reason to change my rating or delete my review. TL;DR: Marizen is NOT a lawyer. She is a Legal Document Assistant that cannot provide you with legal advice. She is a significantly affordable option for a Living Trust but she is unprofessional and has poor attention to detail-- key characteristics that are paramount to detailing an important document. Details: I left a Living Trust inquiry via her site and Marizen emailed me back within 1 day to "text" her back for a scheduled over-the-phone consult. Upon speaking with Marizen it was clear she did not take the time to review the few questions I had sent her in my initial inquiry as she was confused as to what the consult would primarily be regarding. Her rates were significantly less than what other competing services were offering which raised an orange flag for me. Upon further research, I realized Marizen was NOT a lawyer, but rather a "Legal Document Assistant (LDA)." According to the CA Attorney General, LDAs cannot give legal advice. This was my first encounter with an LDA, which allowed me the opportunity to do the necessary research to make a more educated investment. Had Marizen gotten back to me with the necessary next steps and questionnaire as she had promised (it's been over 1.5 weeks), I may have considered her as a possible option to complete my Living Trust needs. But if you are looking for a more affordable option, perhaps Marizen is a good fit for you.

I put up with it because I thought he would be tough and work for me in the end. He didn't do any work for me. He actually didn't realize I was dealing with trauma and recommended that I get help with confidence, he did not help with the trauma because he is a very very overwhelming individual and that would be great in court however with clients it is horrible. It would have been worth it if he would have actually taken my case, but he wasted my time and now I have to find a new attorney and in that time I could've been doing that. He referred me out to two attorneys, one of which was a correct attorney and one of which is a criminal defense attorney. I don't need a criminal defense attorney. I need a probate attorney. He pride himself being right on everything. he definitely got wrong unless you have, the patience of Job and unending amounts of money is what I am assuming I wouldn't put your mental health on the line for this guy. He may know a couple of things, but he didn't do anything to help my case except gave me a few pointers, which I think that any lawyer could have given, and in the process so horribly difficult to deal with, I thought he could be the person to bulldog the people I needed to, but all he did was bulldog me and in the end all I got was information for the wrong Attorney. He has no empathy next to none. I think he probably has a good heart, but he's been in this job so long that it doesn't seem like he's been out of his office in an infinite amount of years to know or give a care what anyone else thinks he assumes like crazy what you're thinking and he already knows what's going on completely in every situation and as if he knows what's going on in your mind and in your life without asking. unless you have copious amounts of money, I suppose that is the reason he didn't take my case or he's just completely burnt out because he seems he's on a hair-trigger tantrum. He wants understanding but he gives none. he wasted a month of my time where I could've gotten another Attorney he led me to believe he was going to do the work for me and I really believed in him. What a letdown and I was already dealing with PTSD and he tells me I have a confidence issue. He seems to know everything he possibly could be Jesus. I'm not sure but he acts like the devil.

After the second insult of my intelligence I stood up and walked out to be told "pay the lady $60". Not worth a dime. Don't waste your time here.
