My family and I enjoyed going to this property when it was ran by former owner, Bob Paluso. Unfortunately, the new owner is not family orientated nor friendly. He does not conduct business the way Bob did. Since the new owner has taken over, we have been extremely disappointed. (In a word - he is CRUDE!) Several of our friends have inquired about trail rides, and we have all agreed that the new owner does not possess any customer service skills nor should he be running a public business. The new owner is NOT an equestrian, nor does he take care of these poor horses. We have colleagues that deal with this ranch and the new owner. We have been informed that many of the trail horses are not tended to properly and have ended lame and are unrideable for a multitude of reasons. The new owner was extremely rude to us and to several of our friends/ co-workers. We will not be back! There are so many other choices for trail rides in Wisconsin. We prefer to patronize ranches with customer service, genuine customer relations and old fashion courtesies, Palomino Pines is NOT one of them! (My family and I highly recommend Kurtz's Corral in Sturgeon Bay, Door county and Bighorn Ranch in Arkdale Wi)

The loop is…read moreapproximately 4 miles that take you up and down and around another section of the Kettle Moraine State Forest in Plymouth. A set of long stairs usher you up to the tower and that is where we started our journey. We climbed to the top and what a sight it is to see. This tower is high up as it sits on the crest of a hill. Amazing and a bit scary all the same time when you get to the top. Bring your pup cause this place is a perfect little spot to hike thorough with them. Trails are well marked and walking through the forest here is a bit surreal as you are led through windy twists and turns that are littered with rocks and trees and so much nature it is just a pleasure to experience. We drove up from Milwaukee and it takes about 50 minutes to get here. When heading home I suggest taking the scenic route back and driving by Long lake and through the country side of Wisconsin. Lot's to see and just an enjoyable jaunt all around!

The best part is there are flush toilets, and nice shower facilities. How much you enjoy this space depends on your expectations. There's a playground right in the middle of it so you have a lot of children screaming very loudly. I didn't mind. I thought it was pretty funny and after all ... kids. The biggest downside is it seems like everyone is on top of everyone else. There is almost no privacy compared to some campgrounds I've been in. People also pump their music pretty loudly and I observed one man shovel, his dog poop and casually toss it into the bushes. But for a completely chill camping experience, it can't be beat. Waupun itself has some pretty nice amenities, and of course you have the Horicon marsh right next-door. If you aren't aware, it is a national wildlife refuge. This campground also has a very attentive hostess, who brings wood to you. We felt kind of spoiled actually.

The building itself is definitely old and the ac units in the room are loud and the blinds are pretty see through, making it both loud and bright in the room. I came with ear plugs and a sleeping mask so it worked out for me. The furniture is a bit sparse all around, but still a nice inn and place to stay. The parking is free and there is plenty around the building and it was nice to be close by a coffee shop. The inn provides a lot of food recommendations and things to do nearby. If I had time I would have checked out the Horicon marsh to go birding.

I am a local resident and was called upon to check available guest accommodations for a friend. This motel has had handy-man renovations for life-support over the years, funded by weekly residents, and temporary housing for a recently released sex-offender or two. The staff is quick to greet you, but be advised English is a second language to them (this is not bad but it may be cause for faulty communication). Rates for a one night visit are above several non-franchised competitors as well as some franchised sites (yes, I checked others). Amenities are bare minimum, no pool or exercise room, your room may have a space heater. If all one needs is a bed and a roof over your head, this may be an option, but it may be more comfortable to stay elsewhere.
