Something in my body told me to check the website to see if…read morepeaches were ready earlier this week, and to my surprise, they had stopped the picking to allow more fruit to ripen. Do you know what that meant!? It means they had already started picking them and I was late! Again! I remembered to look again today and it said it was open but it might not last all day and they highly doubt there would be peaches available to pick for Saturday or Sunday. The website noted the late freeze in April didn't give them a great harvest this year. That meant RUN RUN RUN ‍ so that's exactly what I did. Although I missed two exits getting there SMH, I pulled up, changed my shoes, and opened my trunk to grab my little red wagon. To my dismay, it was not there! I could not believe it because how was I going to haul all my peachesand by myself?! I quickly called my mama and she told me she indeed still had its. I was heartbroken because I was already by myself and no one could come such last minute but now I have to somehow carry the heavy peaches through the field and the hot sun. I looked around and saw wheelbarrows but already knew they would be way too heavy for me to pull around the field so I quickly emptied a reusable bag for my box to go in, and headed to the stand. This year you have to purchase a entry band for everyone that is within the field. That $3 goes towards the farm and whatever they need. Years prior, container size you purchased dictated how many people could go into the field to cleft l collect for that box. Bigger box, more people. I noticed a sign stating I couldn't bring a tote bag in the field and the gentleman explained he would have to check it on the way out. I didn't really care about that and explained to him how I left my wagon and he offered for me to use one of their wheelbarrows. I declined at first because I knew it was going to be too heavy for me to haul around and I instantly had flashbacks of back in the day trying to move that thing. I decided to walk over and see how heavy it was. Guess what!? These wheelbarrows are so lightweight! They're not even made of steel LOL I was so happy and quickly grabed the wheelbarrow, put my box in along with my things, and headed into the field after paying. The smell of peaches fermenting has got to be one of my all-time favorites! It was a warm day today so I definitely took my time and tried to find shade as I picked my peaches. My box quickly filled up so I grabbed one, munched on it and then left after taking some video. What a quick visit. I knew my next stop was to grab my favorite peach butter so I headed to the store. They have less products this year and I wondered how our current climate has been impacting other farms which helps supply their store. They have a few different varieties of mushrooms all boxed for 10 bucks to include lion's mane, porcini, yellow trumpets and others. I made my way around the perimeter of the store and saw some of the usuals like beef jerky, beeswax candles, kraut, cheeses, milk and such. When I got to my favorite spot with my peach butter, there was none! The whole top shelf was empty! This has happened to me before and I had to come back. Hopefully I'll be able to grab some at a later date but if you go grab me a jar lol. I then started looking for to Taharka's ice cream and noticed a deep freezer with a sign indicating the ice cream was inside. I decided not to grab any because I wasn't too sure if I was headed straight home or not. The last time I had to eat both pints so that they didn't melt in my car . . . . . I can't wait for my next adventure at Larriland. The fall will be a great time to visit as well. Oh yeah, right now currently they have onions, tomatoes, potatoes, beets and some other pick your owns in season as well. Happy picking

(Lots of moldy or rotten big ones to ignore.) We later found much more productive rows but were told those rows were not yet open. $4/person admission, $49 for a large flat, pay before you see the field. Disappointed.

Not 5 star but decent enough for the large crowd here today. Burger was well done and lukewarm. Plenty of tasty toppings though so I enjoyed it. Hot dog was serviceable. They had BBQ chicken but I couldn't find a thigh. I made the bad choice to go with a half of a breast. To dry for me. Next time I'll take a wing and a leg if no thighs are available.

Alpacas, a member of the camelid family, are smaller and nicer than llamas, a relative. Mainly, they don't spit, at least not intentionally. We found these alpacas to be sweet, soft and silly. It was a little difficult to find the farm. The entrance is not clearly marked and we made at least two wrong forays onto adjacent properties before finding the farm. Once there we were welcomed by Heather, one of the owners, who gave us a brief rundown before introducing us to some of their goats, sheep, turkeys, donkey. She led us to the paddocks where the alpacas were, giving us instructions on how to approach them, how to feed them, how to pet them. Most had been recently shorn and Heather provided us with feed and the alpacas eagerly ate from our outstretched palms. They were soft and plush, the females more delicate eaters and the males (separated in a different area) were gobblers. These are animals, not pets, so while they are gentle, they do have wills of their own. It was a warm day and the alpacas enjoyed a spray from the hose. It was funny to see how excited they were to feed (reminds me of my dogs) and they ran after Heather when she got the food. Afterwards, we went to the barn where Heather, a fiber artist, demonstrated how the alpaca fur can be mixed with other fibers, how the wool is felted, and how it can be spun into yarn. There are textiles, yarn, garments for sale. Reservations are required. Sign up for the first time slot. Our tour ran over by 30 minutes and the next group had to wait. It is a picturesque drive to the farm but keep in mind that it turns into a two lane road through country lanes. We had left plenty of time for the drive but with our misdirected turnarounds and some road construction we ended up cutting it close.

They also had hay rides but we didn't go because it was a little too sunny for our dog. Everything was free, which was nice! Very free form and you can walk around everything easily. There is also a big farm store in the center with pumpkins, mums, apple cider donuts, pies, jams, etc! The driving is one way so it's easy to get in and out of the farm. The pizza was tasty and ready in 5 min because they precooked the dough. I was hesitant about that technique (never seen pizza dough cooked and stacked like pita bread), but it had a nice crunch and the tomato sauce tasted pure. $23 for credit, $20 for cash. Overall, a nice experience and felt more rustic than more commercial farm places!

My family has tried various online "fresh food" companies, pre-made meal, you name it and they were just ok... usually the food did not last and was mediocre at best. We love our local famers market but even with our good intentions, we rarely made it on time. When my hubs stumbled upon FTF I was skeptical but really liked the idea of delivery, subscriptions and ala cart options and loved supporting our local farmers and businesses so we gave it a try. Here we are two yrs later and we still LOVE it! The fruits and veggies are so fresh that they typically arrive still covered in soil... this is actually our families favorite part! After about 6 months of receiving the subscriptions, we started ordering ala cart items and for the last year or so we've been getting about 75% of our weekly food from FTF. The meats, bakery, dairy and pantry items are all great! FTF is also not like a CSA where you tend to get the same items week after week. They have variety and this makes it fun for the whole family. We've received items that either we would never have chosen or had never eaten and we love it. If you are a meal planner than FTF is a wonderful option bc you get an email of the items that will come the following week and you have plenty of time to plan accordingly. The recipes and storage tips they provide are a great touch too. If you are traveling then it's super easy to suspend the service for as long as needed. Now, are they perfect, no however they do a darn good job fixing mistakes and are quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Sometimes there are missing or unavailable items and we will either receive a credit for or will get a little extra of another item. Personally, we would rather get that credit or extra item then a subpar product that would end up in the trash. There is a lot of talk in the reviews about the surprise email halting delivery to re-vamp and let me tell you, we were SAD... so sad but they worked hard to get back online and we were super excited to receive an email a week later announcing they were back up and running. Dealing with the logistics of fresh foods and delivery to the (very large) Balt-Wash area can not be easy, fresh food is very temperamental. The best part of it all... our 5yo son gets super excited to see the "red bags" on our front porch every week and he's learning about fresh foods and how important it is to support our local farmers. You just wake up on a Friday morning and there is this cool basket stuffed with produce picked at a local farm....maybe even some cheese in there made locally! Small batch jam is your thing.....I GOT THAT IN MY BASKET TOOOOO, along with fresh baked bread, one week I got pasta sauce!!!!!! If all my capital letters and exclamation marks weren't enough to convince you to give this product a try, let's just say that I've heard horror stories of other "organic" or local-based CSA deliveries. I don't have time or money for shriveled and half rotten fruits and veggies! Small basket options for people who don't need to much run about $45 a week, and a larger basket to feed the whole family are about $70. Stay seasonal, eat local, be happy, be healthy! "You can pay the doctor, or you can pay your farmer"!!
