There were so many activities to keep us entertained, including a corn maze that my big kids got lost in The hayride out to the patch was a highlight, allowing us to pick our own pumpkins straight from the field. Before leaving we checked out the food vendors and tried the hot cider and the apple cider donuts. They both were amazing! We left with a wagon full of pumpkins (literally) and a little of everything from the food stand. Will def be coning back next year! read more

Great Upick and picked apples (Sep 2025), free hay ride, kids' area, petting zoo, food vendor, and store We've been to Gaver Farm in December for their christmas trees, and it was fun to bring visiting-friends out for some apple-picking in the fall! I'd call this New Market, about a third of the way from Mt. Airy to Frederick. Just north of I-75 at exit 62, turn right onto Old Frederick and left after a few houses onto Detrick Rd, and you're right there. Plenty of free parking. You come in through their apple and hard-goods store, with lots of fun seasonal items . If you want to enter the large play-area, there's a charge for kids older than two, and you can buy food for the petting zoo and some extra activities like digging for gems! (Tickets online or to the right of the store.) We checked out the current apple varieties in the store, then headed straight to the free hay-ride, or really tractor-and-cart, and got our bag at the orchard for picking apples. Of course, people pick the close-in and lower-branch apples first, but there were plenty more and we filled our bag to bursting. Wear sun-screen and a hat, there's not a lot of shade in the orchard! When we got back, we stopped outside the store for some snacks at the food stand. The apple-cider-donuts were fresh and soft and sweet :-) Kettle-corn was hot and fresh and crisp, always a favorite. We loved some apple slices with caramel to dip it in! The cider at the stand reminded is to grab a gallon in the store to take home. Yum! The other food at the stand was like fair-food: burgers, dogs, fries, tenders. Fun, but not the main attraction. Next to that is a large open covered-building with picnic tables for around 75 people, which was a nice place to relax. We had lovely early-fall day picking apples, tasting fresh cider and cider-donuts. We'll bring the young kids to the play area when they are in town. Christmas Tree Farm: We drove the hour outside of DC so my friend could cut down a Christmas tree. They have a great selection and even carried a whimsical, rare tree type that we ended up choosing. They don't serve any hot drinks if you go on a weekday, sadly. They provide a saw and a cart, and help "package" it. We set our on stopping here last Friday when my son was off of school and my friend was visiting. Unbeknownst to us, all of Maryland had the day off of school. There were so many cars and kids. We decided to just go to the Donut Hut for some cider, cider donuts, and coffee. The cider and donuts were AMAZING! The coffee was horrible. Don't buy the coffee. Our second and last stop was at the Farm Market in the barn. There are so many good things to buy like bread and butter pickles, all kinds of jellies, potpourri, pumpkins of various sizes and colors, sauces, candles, snacks, and so on. Had a bag of apples from this farm bought this past weekend. Unfortunately you cannot pick any apples at this farm but you can buy a bag of already picked apples. All the apples that I ate were mealy but had a great sweet taste. The apples lost their crispness and crunch. The apple cider donuts were excellent here. And pumpkins looked fresh. We always go for Fall Fest. It's always an incredible experience- worth the drive and the price. They have a ton of things to do there- fruit picking, farm stand, bouncy ground, ropes course, tons of slides, tractors, all sorts of giant farm equipment adapted so kids can play on it, animals you can feed, games, things to ride on, shows, a corn maze, giant bubbles, sand boxes, corn silos, toy tractors, rubber duck water races, tractor rides, food, picnic tables, port a pots, hand sanitizer, and so much more! It was almost exactly 8 years ago I was here during Thanksgiving weekend in November 2017 with my girlfriend of that time & her daughter to get a Christmas Tree. One of the best fall festivals out there for families! I paid $13.50 on a weekday for my admission (one year old was free) and I can't believe what I got for it! While certain activities and hay rides were closed, there was a ton to do! We stayed 3 hours and I don't think I saw everything. They advertise that there are over 60 attractions, appropriate for any age including 2 jumping pillows, Chicken Show, farm animals, mini mazes, playgrounds, duck races, ball games, photo centers. That is definitely correct! There are multiple playgrounds, so many slides from tractors or down hills, and petting zoos. There's one giant bounce area that is divided into small kids and bigger kids. Also these giant corn silos with toy trucks that kids love playing and jumping in. There are goats, alpacas, ducks and peacocks to feed. They also have pigs, mini horse and donkeys that you don't really feed. The gift store has lots of fun Halloween decorations and treats. The only downside is that there are no bathrooms, only porta potties. The outdoor sinks by the petting zoo didn't have water, so definitely bring some for post petting zoo cleaning. A great fall festival plus apple picking and a pumpkin patch. It's a short hay ride out to the picking area, and the apples (Fuji and cameo) were delicious. Just watch out for the wasps, but that's a hazard at any orchard. The festival had a ton of activities for the kids- lots of slides, corn pits, carnival style games, and a small zoo area with lots of very friendly goats who can't wait to be fed. Food was ok- your typical fall fest fair with hot dogs, Mac n cheese, and cider. It's a great fall festival overall! read more

Wow. The last few years, we've gone to alternative corn maze farms, just lack of knowledge of knowing about Garver- this season, a friend's tag along invite helped us to discover Garver. At our other farms, the kids usually spend an hour or two tops exploring the various activities, so that was what we planned for this visit.. and with this I initially thought, hmm this ticket price seems a bit high compared to others....but NOPE wow so much to offer we found ourselves at Garver for 4ish hours just going going going-worth the admission price! There was so much to offer, and great variety for all ages- we had in tow a 3yr old and a 1yr old; there was a great balance of activities they could do together & activities to enjoy on their own- some highlights: -we rode the cow train many times -went down all the slides even more times -enjoyed saying hello to the animals -played in the corn silos making corn angels for a long time -crushed some glasses of juicy cold apple cider -bounced & swung for fun times -and our fantastic family photoshoot in the pumpkin patch & sunflower field They advertised over 60+ attractions & I thought mmhkay, but wow they really meant it- there was so much to do- all well spaced out so it didn't feel crowded; we didn't have to wait in many lines- I think the longest was the ride on car attractions (which we didn't do but it seemed to move quickly too) There were also a lot of great decorations throughout, perfect for family photo memories- overall an excellent fall vibe, would absolutely return every year-so glad we discovered them read more

My family and I have been here several times over the years. It's a lot of fun for their pumpkin patch and fall festival. Prices were pretty good and they have a huge play area for the kids. They also have some food trucks, drinks available for purchase, and a large barn with farm fresh selections to purchase. You can also buy feed to give to the animals. First-time visitors may find the staff rude; there were arguments, and the overall friendliness could improve especially for people reserving event tables, staff wasn't accommodating or helpful. First time cutting our own tree. They provide you carts and saws but you are able to also bring your own saw. They have cut trees as well. They had so many beautiful trees to choose from it was hard to decide. The prices are also reasonable. The employees with shake your tree out and bail it for you too. WOW, this is an ideal Fall excursion for everyone in the DMV area. I don't know why it took us so long to come here, but it's just a short hour drive from Arlington. When we visited on the 3rd weekend of October, the trees began to turn for great foliage viewing. The sky was blue and clear, and there were still some apples to pick! We got a peck of about ~25 fuji apples, which were delicious and we made into a more delicious apple pie the following day. When you arrive, take a short hayride to the orchards and pay for your bags at the entrance (don't wait in the admissions line by the parking lot). Next year, I want to check out the Fall festival! This requires a separate ticket, and there were farm animals, big slides, outdoor games, etc! There is also several dining options like hot dogs, burgers that you can easily spend the whole day here. We went for the warm apple cider donuts, which is HIGHLY recommended! The donuts were a between of cake and yeast donuts, warm and delicate and just melt in my mouth! Gaver farm has so many positives but some of the negatives have really brought it down. This year we attended the fall fest and a lot of activities have been added but it doesn't appear as though enough personnel were working. For the obstacle course, too many kids under 5 yr old were on it which caused problems for the older children. Kids were going up to the sign, reading it "at least 5 years old AND 50in" and the parents were still saying go in. Suggestion: have someone monitoring it like on the slide. There were no attendants for the animals. We witnessed what appeared to be blood coming out of one of the goats with no one around the question. The animal area has become too focused and between the food area right behind, it's packed. Lastly, the two main features I loved pre-covid are shadows of their former self. The corn maze and the pumpkin patch. The corn maze was the first really great corn maze I encountered but now, so many people have made multiple "exits" and trampled the corn that it's not even a maze anymore. It may be time to raze it and give it a year or 2 to regrow to it's former glory. The pumpkin patch wasn't even. It's now a tractor ride to an area where pumpkins and squash are on the ground and the guest pick one off the ground. Gone are the days where people would go and actually pick the pumpkins off the vine. Gaver farm can be the best but some things need to change. read more

We visited in the fall for the pumpkin patch and associated activities. This place has the most activities I've seen at a place like this. I think there were like 50 different things to do. Very fun for the family. It's also really big and spread out. The grounds were well kept and clean. There are some cute photo opps. Downside was that even on a weekday it was extremely crowded. Lines were impossibly long for food. There were also lines for some of the activities. I decided to go in the place where you checkout and get some pre packed donuts to hold us over. We did do the included hayride but skipped the little pumpkin patch (looked kinda lame) and opted to pick our pumpkins from the large variety in bins near the front. Whoa!!! This farm was totally worth the drive and money!! This is the BIGGEST farm that my family and I have been to. As soon as we arrived at the farm the parking lot was loaded with cars, and that is always a good sign. I purchased tickets online for my family of 3, the lines were long but it was moving. This farm has 60+ attractions, the unlimited hayrides were the icing on the cake. A perfect fall festival for children of all ages especially toddlers. Food The lines were ridiculously long and it was only two areas that you could purchase hot food from. With the size of this farm, they should have more places available to purchase food so they cut down on the lines. Also, there was only one place to buy "hot" and fresh apple cider donuts and cider slushies but again the lines were super long. Gaver farm provided an awesome few hours of fun for my 2 1/2 yr old. We went a couple months ago on a random Friday, and couldn't believe how crowded it still was. Can't imagine what it's like on the weekends. But even with all the people, it's big enough to spread out and not feel like you're on top of other folks. They have so many attractions and things to do for the kiddos....you really can't go wrong. The highlight for my little was the big white slide with the potato sac to slide down. She also loved the jumping pillow. She was technically too small for the ninja course, but we stayed to the side when it wasn't busy, and she loved that too. My highlight was the WARM and fresh apple cider donuts. Now, I've had apple cider donuts before, but now I'm not sure if I can ever have them again if they aren't fresh and hot. One of my favorite annual activities is going, driving out to the suburbs and finding a fun apple orchard to pick apples at and get some delicious apple cider donuts. Bonus points if they have any pumpkins and/or a corn maze. What I was not expecting is how basically Gaver is a fall themed amusement park for kids and adults alike. I chose it originally because it was one of the closer orchards to DC only being about an hour away from the city which is not a bad drive at all. There were probably 1000+ people at the farm this weekend, but because the campus is so large it didn't feel that busy. They have a giant, corn maze, plus a mini corn maze for kids, tons of animals that you can feed and interact with, a pumpkin, patch, a sunflower field, lots of different games and activities, ropestackle course, hay ride, and so much more! If you have kids the $20 entry fee to get in is basically an entire days worth of activities. There's so much to do that a child would be hard-pressed to be bored here. I am 33 years old and I found a ton of fun stuff to do and most of the fall fun land is dedicated to children haha We got in line to get hot fresh donuts, and they were absolutely delicious (but if you don't want to wait, they have non-hot versions at the market when you leave). In addition to the apple cider donuts that are ubiquitous with fall, they also had glazed pumpkin donut holes, which were also delicious. I left with a dozen apple cider donuts as well as a gallon of cider to take home . If you're into photogenic and fun fall activities I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

This is my first time here and definitely not my last! I was a little hesitant coming because it was a hike and the reviews about no masks scared me. Clearly I went because I'm writing this review. Lol I ordered my tickets for the previous weekend but couldn't make it, I sent an email, and they were able to exchange it for another weekend. Anyway so we arrived a little after 11am on a Sunday the Ravens played, I'm saying this to say, that it was still crowded, after only being open for an hour. I thought it wouldn't be too busy because people were getting ready for the game. WRONG! Parking is as organized, there were parking attendants directing you for places to park. I downloaded ticket leap for my tickets, which was an easy process. Someone scanned my tickets and we were given pink wristbands. Now to the good stuff. Gaver Farm had so many activities for us to do, unfortunately we couldn't get around to everything, and my toddler wouldn't allow me to. We enjoyed the swings, the hayride, the adorable pumpkin field (great photo op), the slides, feeding the goat, and the delicious food! It was worth the ride and we will be back next year. Beyond worth the drive from Northern VA! We've been cutting our tree down for so many years and this was by far our favorite place. We worried when we initially saw the parking lot and how busy it was...Little did we know once you go through their beautiful barn shop on the other side are Christmas trees as far as the eye can see. I have never so many beautiful trees in all my life, one was prettier and better shaped than the next... The prices are so much better than Virginia... The staff is extremely helpful, cute well appointed shop with very nice items that were well priced. Lots of wreaths etc. We can't say enough good things and will be back next year and will let our friends know this year... My son and I visited Gaver Farms at the suggestion of a friend. It was an early October weekend, and it was sold out; good thing we had advanced tickets. Bottom line: if this is how Gaver does a Fall festival during COVID, I am super pumped to visit during non-COVID times (whenever that may be). The farm is very spread out and nearly everyone was always wearing a mask (except when eating). Tons of hand sanitizer stations were set up throughout all areas. They literally had everything (except corn bins which were closed because of COVID) from a chalk house, to log cabin building, tons of slides and tunnels, a digger area, tractors, fire trucks, bikes, a cow train, and a corn maze to football/basketball/baseball, a bouncy ball area, spiderweb climbing, duck races, tractor swings, sand boxes, hula hoops on cows, a big chair, and bouncing pillows. My *only* complaint was the bouncy pillow was 2+ and my son, who is not quite 2 and therefore was a free admission, was unable to bounce. We've never come across this issue and, frankly, he's built like a fire hydrant and was bigger than some of the kids already bouncing. The hayride to the pumpkins is actually free so even with no admission to the fall festival, you could go to the pumpkin patch. It was great at the time, but I'm sure picked over by the end. Unlike many places, you pay for the pumpkins at the farm, not a booth in the patch. I will always remember this farm because it's where I called a pumpkin crazy (see picture) and now my son hasn't stopped saying crazy pumpkin since. The food options are SUPER basic, so keep that in mind. Overall, though, I only have amazing things to say about Gaver Farms and this is, seriously, the fall festival I will compare others to In the future. We can't wait to come back! read more
