Their web site says they are open until 4:00 on Sundays. I called the number on the sign and told the man who answered that I had just arrived to buy mulch, and he said "oh, well we closed early." I asked why he would do that when their web site advertises their business hours, and his answer was "hey, there are a couple other places close by that you can go- we're closed. Sorry." I started to ask another question, wanting to know when they would reopen, but he hung up on me as I was still talking! When I called back he had a very nasty attitude, told me I had anger issues, and hung up on me again! I can't believe people think they can do business this way. I have spent plenty of money here in the past, but never again! They have lost a customer for life. I will gladly take my business and my money elsewhere, and I will recommend to anyone who asks that they do the same.

I signed the estimate and they came out and did the work, but I was surprised when the job took only one person (probably paid at most $30.00/hr) less than 2 hours to complete. While the work was decent (not great, but decent), it still seemed that the estimate had been grossly overstated. I waited a week for a statement with an updated price, but it never came. I kept thinking about this, trying to figure out how the costs associated with a one person job on a tractor with a scraping tool for 2 hours could justify charging me $650/hr, especially when there were no additional materials needed as part of the job. The updated price never came so I emailed the owner and asked for an itemized bill. He called and said he was confused about what I meant by an itemized bill and I said that I was asking for a breakdown of the charges so I could understand how he arrived at the total price. He said that was irrelevant, the price was what it was and that I had signed off on the estimate. I said yes, I had signed the estimate, not an invoice. We went round and round and he said that the cost of the job was irrelevant and that the estimate he gave me was the quote of the job no matter how long it took and the breakdown was proprietary. Finally, he listed the expenses as wages, insurance, the tractor and transportation, but when I asked him what the costs were associated with those items, he kept telling me that the pricing was "proprietary." I specifically asked if the price of gas was proprietary, if the price of the tractor was proprietary, if the price of insurance was proprietary, etc. so he switched to claiming the accounting software he used was proprietary. While I get that Yardbook would probably consider their software proprietary, the pricing data the owner of Innovative Nursery, or someone in his company, would have input into the software was not proprietary which can only lead to the conclusion that the owner either doesn't know the ins and outs of his own business or that he had something to hide. Instead of having a civil conversation with me and simply explaining how he arrived at his numbers so I could understand where he was coming from, the owner launched a bunch of threats and accusations at me, so when I got off the phone with him I went on AI to figure out the costs I mentioned above as well as several others that I figured were associated with the job. I was right about the wage of a skilled landscaping employee being at most $30/hr, but was off on other costs. Still, using the most conservative costs I found, I came up with total expenses for the job of $487 and rounded up to $500 in case there were a couple small expenses I had missed. Since the total I came up with was considerably more than my original estimate of $300, I will not pursue this any further (I still think my estimate of $300 for the job is closer to accurate given how generous I was with the numbers, but again, I will give the owner the benefit of the doubt). Still, a $500 cost point for the $1300 price estimate leaves 62% in profit for the owner when a profit margin of up to 20% is more typical for a small landscaping business and most businesses in general. Given the level of incompetency of the owner in knowing and understanding his own business and the ramifications of that lack of knowledge, or his lack of honesty and transparency (people who have nothing to hide, hide nothing) as well as his lack of professionalism and a profit margin that can only be described as greedy, I cannot recommend Innovative Nursery or its services at all.

Even stalls that repeat the same types of items have their own unique spin and history. It's busy, with people everywhere looking and enjoying their purchases. Prices are reasonable, especially how fresh and local everything is. Homemade stuffed pretzels with everuthing from breakfast items inside them to just cheese. Fresh cup up fruit and veggies. Every kind of prepped salad you CAN think of. Veggies who veggies sliced. Fruit whole fruit sliced. The best place to find goodies for the weekend. Fresh meats to buy and take home and cook. Ready to eat prepped foods to eat there or take home. A shop for spices and wonderful things to use in the kitchen. This place also has a section where you can buy homemade fresh baked cookies cakes pies, breads. So much here to look at. Candy too. We went back to eat and again I had the Egg veggie wrap. It was fabulous. My friend had the breakfast burger. Crazy good. To be very honest, the amount of inventory is overwhelming. As you navigate through the space, you'll find everything from local jams, furniture, Viking attire, toys, decor, clothing, and seasonal merchandise (Christmas). I would especially visit this space if you're looking to entertain and need plates, tea cups, and so on. Also, if you're looking for a fancy brooch or necklace for your next social event, look no further. I visited for just browsing. I walked out with gorgeous Matryoshka (Russian Doll), a hand-painted Russian egg with a church on it, and crystal-ish egg holder. I paid very reasonable price for these items considering that souvenirs from Russia are scarce right now. This space really offers very unique finds. VALUE: The prices vary. Each seller sets their own prices so they are all over the board. I would say that you can find items within any budget. Most items are well priced for antiques. SERVICE: The vendors work at the shop to help out. Several people approached me to offer help, share stories about the space, and socialize. I found this to be a very friendly environment. I look forward to returning here. If you visit, I recommend allotting extra time for browsing the store and every corner. There are so many hidden gems. The shopkeepers told me that the inventory continuously rotates and expands, so you'll always find something new.

I was out shopping and thrifting in Middlefield so I figured I would check out the Marketplace…read moreMall. Located on Kinsman Road in a former drugstore building you will find an 'antique mall' filled with individual booths. The Mall is overall very clean and bright, most of the booths are well organized and easy to check out. On the downside I found that less then half of the items were antiques or vintage, instead it is a mix of all sorts of items. For me I only saw a couple of items that interested me. Overall the prices seemed high for what was being offered; prices do vary depending on the booth. The vendors and volunteers that were in the Mall were nice and friendly and clearly the vendors care about their booths. I was primarily looking for wood carvings, especially masks so it is always a longshot whether I will find anything, but usually I can find some items that are worth checking out; here the pickings were very slim. Of course your experience can and will vary.

All the flats and pots of plants seem healthy and vibrant and organized as you walk in. We mainly patronize this Troy/Burton store of the Urban Growers chain for our vegetables ever since our favorite Amish fruit & vegetable stand just a mile down the road suddenly closed shop in Dec 2013. As I understand it, the farm only closed their storefront which, in the years we visited, always had a healthy supply of both product and customers through their shop. J&J's now wholesales their produce to Urban Growers to retail. The POSITIVE about that is now you can shop on Sundays (J&J's was closed on Sundays due to being Amish owned). And you can now use credit cards whereas J&J's was only cash or check. J&J's produce is retailed in a one-room store on the south end of the building and includes lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, jalapenos, onions, peaches, corn, beans, melons, squash, beets, and zucchini depending on the season. One of my personal favorites are the sweetest peaches anywhere! All produce is wholesome, locally ripened quality at good prices.
