I tried to bring it up with the executive director and was told to see her in a couple weeks after I said I needed to talk to you about some things you need to know. I mostly to another pool where I feel respected, wanted and valued. I do not feel targeted by bully and unhinged staff in the pool area. Management in that department needs a "Sea Change" honestly. I have a new home pool now. Where there is a team atmosphere and very supportive. I had to work up some bravery to write this review. It is not easy when you feel like you have to speak up and question the very authority you want to respect. I loved this y. Still do. The pool rock. I got friends there. Being at that Y was a huge part of my life. But the bullying and disrespect was just to much. I left broken hearted and not able to get any supportive ear. The manager of the pool was more "concerned about protecting her employee". She said those words. Well what about volunteers and swim regulars? What about swim students? I saw sone questionable things I did not feel free to bring up on the chain of command. I will say now this place needs changes to make it a more supportive place for all. My son attended the drop in free soccer class and now wants to sign up to be on a team. My son has never shown any interest in sports and was encouraged by me, mom, to attend. He was out of shape, red faced, and out of breath almost the whole time and I kept waiting for him to throw in the towel. The coach easily held my sons interest and focus, positively motivating my son to complete all the drills he was teaching the kids. My son was proud of himself after he completed this class and looks forward to joining a team, This organization is making a positive impact on individuals within its community and should be recognized for doing so. Amazing people doing what they love! So glad we found this place!

I finally decided to go for it and researched a number of gyms online. I was attracted to Silverdale Fitness because of its classes, location and reasonable rates. I have been there for three months now and have gone from straining to bring the groceries upstairs to running up the stairs with ease. :) What I Like: *The instructors have been so helpful. I came in completely out of shape. My experience in the gym was mostly limited to high school classes ten years ago. Both Kelly (Yoga) and Deb (Step) have gone out of their way to help me in their classes. *They offer more Zumba classes than any other gym I looked at. I love Zumba and the women in the Zumba classes are so much fun! The instructors do a fantastic job. Janice and Mary have so much energy and really keep you moving. Zumba is a dance aerobics class that involves a lot of hip shaking. :) *They have excellent Step Aerobics classes. I highly recommend taking a step class from either Janice or Deb. They are both excellent instructors. *They have a number of Yoga classes. Yoga has helped my arm strength quite a bit and, now that I am more active, I appreciate stretching out my sore muscles. *The People: Their staff is 100% helpful and friendly. Also, they have an excellent clientele. I realize they have little control over who signs up for their memberships, but they coincidentally have a great group of people in their fitness classes! I was immediately welcomed in by class regulars in Zumba and Step. The classes are mostly women and every age group is represented. *10 Day Trial: The ten day trial was perfect for me. It gave me enough time to check out the classes and get comfortable with the gym before committing to a membership. What Needs Improvement: *They need more small hand weights upstairs in the aerobics room. There are never enough two and three pound weights. That said, the little weights are pretty cheap and I'll likely buy my own eventually anyway. :) *A number of the step benches and steps need to be replaced. It's fine most of the time, but it becomes a problem when you get a large class. It's tough to use a step bench without enough traction. *Although it does not bother me, I know a number of people who love spin classes and Silverdale Fitness does not have them. However, with a Silverdale Fitness membership, you can go to Kingston Fitness and they offer spin classes there.

It is frequently closed off for High School /Master's Swim Team/ Water Polo. It is a "public facility" with far too few truly "public use" hours. That's how tax dollars are siphoned off for certain classes of people - we all pay but only a few reap the benefits. When I had a knee injury and could not exercise, I was able to use the hot water spa, the steam room, and this made me feel better. I have used the deep water pool for their "Water Aerobics" class as well as just water walking for relaxation and meditation. When available the cooler water pool at the rear of the facility is wonderful for lap swimming. It is usually not available in the evenings due to High School water polo. The "family pool" or Don Nakata Pool is warmer and it's okay for lap swimming but far too shallow and broad and only 3 lanes truly for laps. The cost is quite high $11 per drop in if you are an island resident. However, the lockers and showers are well kept if a little dated. Ongoing renovation work through 2025 and 2026 further restrict hours.

Numerous times either the instructor refuses to come to work or my son is sent home. My son work nights. So, the inappropriate absence of one of the Aquatic's swim teacher is unacceptable. We even get emails to pay more money to BAINBRIDGE ISLAND AQUATIC CENTER. If the instructor is not there, why should she get paid? This place needs to be IRS inspected for "ripping off" customers . Where does my money go? Clearly, it is not used for swim lessons.
