I moved here from San Diego a few years ago and went through multiple barbershops, all of which were absolutely terrible--bad cuts, no attention to detail, and just an overall miserable experience. Then, not even intentionally, I stumbled across Brentwood, and I've been going there ever since--two years strong. These guys are on another level. They actually care about what they're doing, and it shows. I always book with Calvin because he's an absolute perfectionist. He takes his time, makes sure every cut is on point, and never rushes through it like so many other barbers do. The guy knows exactly what he's doing, and I walk out looking on point every single time. On top of that, the whole shop has a great vibe--the staff is outgoing, friendly, and treats you like you're part of the family. There's no way I'm ever going anywhere else. read more

Have gone here a few times and it gets worse and worse. I've gotten a haircut from the main three guys and the only one that seems to listen and ask questions on how you'd like your hair is Calvin. I went yesterday and Calvin wasn't working but there is the new guy. He's a bigger guy with tattoos and they should fire him as fast as they hired him. When I sat in his chair I showed him a video of how my haircut was last time which was Calvin's work but he didn't care to even to try to recreate it. My hair is so much shorter around than I wanted and couldn't even try to stop him before he began because he never stopped one time to ask how I would want it. From failing at a taper to completely missing hair around my ears he is such a failure at what he is trying to do. read more

Traveling out of state with the family. Hair was beginning to drive me crazy. Decided I needed to get it squared away. Found these fellas on here and gave them a call just to see if they can do the flat top style cut. The gentleman on the phone said all of them are equipped to do them. So, I decided to give them a try. I am very particular when it comes to getting a flat cut. I was with the same barber for almost 20 yrs before he retired, and he was very meticulous. I am very pleased with the cut I received today and would definitely recommend this shop. read more

One of the "True" Last remaining Barber Shops. Want a razor fade? No sweat go talk to John. I went in, and asked if they could do a fade? John replied regular, or razor? I was very surprised; not to mention "EVERY" hair cut comes with a razor shave! Not many barbers doing this anymore. I sat in the chair, and John began. From scissors to seriously 10 different clipper heads. He constantly kept looking at all angles to make sure it was even. You can tell these barbers love their work. The typical barbershop banter cracking away in the room. Honestly after about 45 minutes I was done. I asked how much, and he replied $14! I couldn't believe it. There are a few places charging twice this much for half the work. If you are looking for a no rushed great priced hair cut with a razor trim. Then this is your spot! read more

Probably the worst barber i've been to. Had lots of friends talk about this place, so I figured i'd check it out. The atmosphere was very nice, and the guys working there seem very cool. But the actual haircut was just not it. That guy was done under 10 minutes...I thought he was just that good but it turned out he was just rushing and unintentional. Worst haircut my husband has had in 40 years! Every time I look at him I can't believe a professional would let a customer leave with this bad cut. He is happy he is retired so he won't have to go to work with this haircut. A hat will do until it grows and can be corrected. His longtime barber just retired. read more

Went here as a kid and the original owner cut my hair. Was a flat top back then lol. Now I just get a simple cut and a beard trim from Jim. Good atmosphere and not a silly place for uppity millenials and pretentious kids. But even if you are one of those they will still cut your hair. You will be upset though that you can't tell your friends that your haircut cost 30+ bucks here. A cut and a beard trim is less than Hudson hawks hair cut. I can leave a 5 buck tip and it's still cheap. Hudson doesnt even have real barbers but they pretend they are one. Stylists is what they are ask to see their barber license. They have some neat hair and beard products here too. The guys are all good to talk to an have different interests so pick the one that works for you. read more

Do not waste your money here. Terrible service, incompetent staff, and general carelessness. I asked for an extremely simple haircut: single-length clipper on the sides and back (no fade), scissor-cut on top, no sideburns. The cut was an uneven hack-job, and attention to detail was nonexistent. When I got nicked with the razor on my ear during the neck shave, the guy said, "That's the problem with these things--they're so sharp." Places like this are the reason the big stupid unisex chains have virtually taken over. They're nothing like the barber shops of the past which they claim to be like. As a Springfield resident, I'll put up with some hipster B.S., having to make appointments, and paying six more bucks each time over terrible service any day. The state of men's grooming in today's society is absolutely abysmal. read more
