I was in SGF, desperate for an emergency hair and beard trim before a big video conference call that popped up on my calendar, so I decided to try Dapper Barber because it looked like a place I could trust to trim my beard correctly. Boy, am I glad I did! The owner, Sean, cut my hair and beard, and 1) my beard has never looked better, because 2) nobody has ever paid so much attention to detail and been so meticulous in shaping it. I walked into Dapper Barber looking frizzled and slightly homeless, and when I walked out, I felt like I could have stepped into a beard competition and had a fighting chance at a trophy. Sean also did an excellent job with my hair, and convinced me that I was combing my hair slightly wrong for the past decade, showed me a better way to do it, and then shaped the hair up around it, and it looks better. Why haven't the many barbers I've been to over the years noticed that and offered to fix it for me? IDK, but Sean did, and I'm grateful. He's truly an artist and a craftsman with scissors and clippers, and he's good company, too. Further, the ambiance at Dapper is... well, dapper. The place is like a museum of dapper gentlemanhood over the years. Next time I'm in town, I'll plan to be there longer for another hair and beard trim, and to spend extra time marveling at all the artifacts and curiosities around the shop. One could make men's I Spy books by taking pictures of the shop--and I'd buy that, too! It's a shame I live so far from SGF; otherwise, I'd never go to another barbershop again in my life. read more

He immediately told me that he wasn't experienced with cutting black people's hair and that is understandable because there is not a lot of diversity there However, this man gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. Antique barber chairs that have been brought back to life and the same detail went into my cut time and time again. A truly great establishment for gentlemen to observe, converse and relax around other men. I'd heard about Dapper and was curious how they'd do with a hair cut and a beard trim. I keep a very full beard, but it can get a bit wild from time to time. Landon did a great job helping me reign it in a bit and get it looking real nice. I came in as a walk-in on the weekend and a spot was available in another hour so I stuck around to wait. A few members dropped in for a drink and struck up some very pleasant conversation. It's a nice opportunity to sit and enjoy a Saturday afternoon; relaxed conversation with whoever stops in, a drink to pass the time and a very cool atmosphere. This is an establishment that caters specifically to men. It provides an opportunity for men to get away from their daily responsibilities and allow them to rejuvenate amongst other gentlemen. This misunderstanding could be why Samantha R was frustrated that they wouldn't service her. It's not that they meant it to be rude or hateful, they just feel it is important to protect the haven of manhood that they've created. This place is simply awesome. It's a very chill environment. The interior setup feeds the rustic, old fashioned feeling. I haven't had someone cut my hair in nearly 10 years, so I figured it was time for something new. I met with Steven, who did a consult with me to figure out what style I would go for. He gave some great suggestions, and we decided on a do. He's a great guy, and we swapped family stories. He was quick, but man, he really paid attention to detail. Got to experience the essential oil infused steam towel with lavender, which was great. When he finished, and I got to see the finished product, I was blown away! Simply put, Dapper is the absolute best barbershop in town and quite frankly, probably the country. I, for one, can't imagine a better experience than I always have there, The owner and one of the barbers, Sean, is experienced, talented, and passionate about cutting hair. I'm giving Dapper two stars for the cool atmosphere of an old time barbershop. And that's where it ends. I decided to purchase a gift certificate for my husband and father in law. I had to drive to the shop (40 minutes) to actually purchase the gift certificate. My husband did not get the services promised. The owner, Sean, gave my husband a shave on the house after I complained. He was very gracious, so I thought I'd try again this year. You still can't purchase a gift certificate on line, calls are not returned, promises not kept. I would not recommend going through the hassle of getting your haircut and shave at Dapper. Prices are way to high and in my opinion, not worth the frustration. read more
