The real highlight is the air trampoline, all the kids naturally gravitated toward it and spent their evenings hanging out together, which made the campground feel lively and social. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're traveling with children and want a place where they can easily make friends and burn off energy. I would have given it more stars but left a message on voicemail that wasn't returned for well over 24 hours regarding our spot. The park was sold out when we arrived and we were placed in a spot that didn't provide the hook ups we reserved. They did move us the next morning but it's a hassle moving a big RV.

First and foremost, a big shoutout to Rhonda at the front desk! From the moment we walked in, she was nothing but professional, kind, and informative. Rhonda took the time to explain the KOA benefits to us, and no matter what we needed, she was always there to help without making us feel like an inconvenience. I even sent my husband to see Rhonda when he went to pick up some KOA t-shirts because I knew she'd take good care of him. Another highlight was Angie, who organized the tie-dye activity. She was super friendly and made sure everyone, even those who had never done it before, had a great time. Angie had everything set up perfectly and went above and beyond to make the activity extra fun with her exceptional personality. Steve was another favorite during our stay. My husband especially appreciated his friendly demeanor and helpfulness. Whether we needed assistance or advice on local activities, sites, and restaurants, Steve was always ready with a smile and some great tips. People like him really make your trip memorable. However, we were disappointed by a few aspects of the campground. There weren't many activities, and we especially missed having a pool. It also didn't seem very kid-friendly. The miniature golf course, in particular, needs some serious work--there were spots where the grass was bubbled up, making it impossible to play straight, and other areas were so worn out that it was down to the wood. This made it tough to enjoy. Another small gripe was the trash situation. We're used to having our trash picked up at our campsite by 5:00 p.m., but at this KOA, we had to take it to a big trash bin ourselves. While it's not a huge deal, it's a nice touch that we missed. Overall, while the campground itself could use some improvements, the amazing staff at St. Ignace KOA, particularly Rhonda, Angie, and Steve, made our stay much more enjoyable. Their friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism were the highlights of our trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in spite of the smoke, rain, and wind. Can't wait to have this as a staple venue for so many memories. There's plenty of spot varieties depending on your preference but it's a small enough place that access is easy no matter what spot you land in. Bathroom, showers, and laundry are kept immaculately clean (much appreciated)!! The shallow beaches were great for kid safety and rock hunting - we even caught some crawfish which was easy entertainment added to the rest of the kid friendly additions to the beach.

Immaculate landscaping and it was beautiful to walk the pups along the beach of Lake Ontario every morning. Staff was great and the store was well stocked. This was our first and last stay at Trailside Campground…read more We rented Cabin #3, which is only about 25 yards from the pavilion. It was Friday, July 24, and there were no scheduled concerts or events. Around 5 or 6 people, including the owner, were partying in the pavilion with extremely loud music, strobe lights, and a disco ball until the early morning hours. The cheap curtains in the cabin did nothing to block the flashing lights. At about 1:40 a.m., I politely walked over and asked if they could just turn the music down a little. I never asked them to shut it off--I simply wanted it lowered enough that we could get some sleep. The owner's response was unbelievable. He appeared to be intoxicated and immediately came storming toward me yelling, "Hey! Hey! Hey!" He then told me, "This isn't a KOA or a family campground. This is going to go on until 3 or 4 in the morning," and said he'd give me a refund. He wasn't calm or respectful--he was aggressive and confrontational over a simple, reasonable request. The next morning, another camper stopped me in the bathroom and said she felt bad for how the owner spoke to me. She told me another camper was so upset after witnessing it that he left the pavilion. She also mentioned the owner had been drinking all day because they were celebrating the one-year anniversary of buying the campground. We weren't the only people bothered by the noise. Campers across from us were complaining too. If your campground isn't family-friendly and you plan on having loud parties until 3 or 4 in the morning, that's your choice. But be upfront about it so guests know what they're paying for. More importantly, don't treat paying customers with disrespect when they make a polite request. Customer service starts at the top, and unfortunately our experience with the owner ensured we'll never be back.

The host couple, Mary & Jim are gracious, helpful and willing to offer suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants, and will answer any questions. The park is peaceful and did I say well cared for? Close enough to Saint Ignace, ferries to Mackinac Island (recommend Shepplers) and restaurants... Highly recommend the Buoy Grill restaurant across from the City Marina, owned by a former Coast Guard Man and visited often by Coast Guard Cruz who contribute memorabilia that adore the walls of the restaurant. Also showers available at City Marina for $7. We enjoyed our six days and if our journeys brought us back to the area, we would certainly stay here again.

Be careful with the big rocks. For tent camping it should be fine. We stayed there so we could visit Mackinac Island on the weekend, but later found out that there's a casino near by, closer to the island that's cheaper and it offers hookups. Check them out. The camp hosts were very nice.
