This place is MSU's garage sale. I've purchased some great used Steelcase desks here. They always seem to have a pretty full supply of discarded MSU furniture. Otherwise, they sell pretty much everything: Bikes, used computers, random medical electronics, kitchen equipment, cars, old televisions, a preserved horse leg, etc. They are usually open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Keep your schedule open.

It was a long drive and I was worried that the keyboard would be sold by the time I got there (unfortunately, you can't 'hold' items, nor buy over the phone, luckily they only sell Tu and Fr so you can really plan your purchases if you wanted). When I got to the store I was a bit awestruck, it is really as eclectic as they say. One of the keyboards had sold, though they remembered me from my phonecalls and *really* hooked me up on the other keyboard... and THEN they also hooked me up with *another* really awesome keyboard and 2 pairs of headphones. Besides this, I was actually touched by the considerate service and their ability and desire to care about the items in the store. Laptop batteries were removed from laptops to improve their longevity and then organized into ziplock bags along with flash drives loaded with the original OS; they bought foot-pedals for keyboards and included them with the keyboard; I also bought a laptop and they included a laptop bag of my choosing; and the experience with the staff was superb. I haven't experienced service like that in a resale store ever, not to mention possibly any store. I will be back!

I owned a vacant residential property and was trying to get some large items moved away. I believe…read morein recycling. The items included a broken dryer, an old gas grill, and a large industrial-style metal mop bucket. I contacted Meridian Recycling because they were having a big event called Meridian Regional Recycling Event on April 23, 2016. I phoned and asked if they could come pick up the items at my house in west Lansing. The man on the phone said his volunteers were pretty busy with pickups, but if I could get the items to Okemos, they would accept them. I was disappointed because I had no way to move the items. The dryer was in the basement and still hooked up! A half-hour later I received a call from a different person who said he would personally come to the house to pick up the items. He and a young volunteer, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, worked very hard to properly disconnect the dryer and moved it up the stairs, carried it around the house, lifted it over a locked gate, and loaded it into a vehicle. Then they moved the grill and bucket (I showed them an easier way to get out of the back yard). No charge to me for having them do this heavy, dirty work. I know the metal will be recycled and this makes me happy. The two men worked hard and never complained. They were polite and friendly. I am very grateful.

I found it to be a very eye opening experience considering that I "lean green" and have been curious about businesses that produce products that can be considered limited use. Dart makes limited use products, but it is also very proactive about recycling those products (something you will learn about at the museum) and attempting to educate the public about recycling. I was privy to the employee cafeteria because my daughter works at Dart and I stopped in to have lunch with her. Not only do they have chefs cooking meals from scratch everyday using local products, they serve on, and recycle, all their own products. The recycling system is phenomenal--explained and easy to follow. So if you are curious about where your paper plates and RED SOLO cups come from, stop into the Main office and take a tour in the museum. You will also learn how to recycle these products and all of your other single use products.
