The items included a broken dryer, an old gas grill, and a large industrial-style metal mop bucket. I contacted Meridian Recycling because they were having a big event called Meridian Regional Recycling Event on April 23, 2016. I phoned and asked if they could come pick up the items at my house in west Lansing. The man on the phone said his volunteers were pretty busy with pickups, but if I could get the items to Okemos, they would accept them. I was disappointed because I had no way to move the items. The dryer was in the basement and still hooked up! A half-hour later I received a call from a different person who said he would personally come to the house to pick up the items. He and a young volunteer, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, worked very hard to properly disconnect the dryer and moved it up the stairs, carried it around the house, lifted it over a locked gate, and loaded it into a vehicle. Then they moved the grill and bucket (I showed them an easier way to get out of the back yard). No charge to me for having them do this heavy, dirty work. I know the metal will be recycled and this makes me happy. The two men worked hard and never complained. They were polite and friendly. I am very grateful.

Someone called the morning of to confirm the pickup and then the tow truck driiver also called to let me know he was about 10 minutes away. Last year they did a remodel and now it's got fancy machines, trendy tables to fold your clothes on and cards to put your money on to use the machines. This is handy for them because they can keep your money on their system and if you lose the card, your money is gone. They used to have a quarter machine onsite for ease of using machines but that is over. Anyway- pros: lots of new washers and dryers. Cons: the machines leave the clothing super wet. Also- are living in a pandemic. I've watched the kid working here take his mask off to talk to customers more than I've seen him have the thing on his actual face. There are signs on all the doors and around the building saying masks are mandatory and to please take your laundry home to fold and to wait in your car. But here I am, freezing my ass off in my car while I watch three men with no masks talk to the prepubescent attendant in a douchebag adidas beanie and his mask around his chin. I'll be looking for a new laundry mat.

As much as I love my city, there is a particular up-north, pine tree & country charm to the greater Lansing area. Everything in the store was organized, well-stocked, clean and usable. There was a lot of construction materials and doors and a really big outside light section that was so well organized, it looked like Menards. We definitely have to drive by here again and see if there's anything else that we need. Of course, like all resale shops, the stock here changes all the time. But this one is definitely a do not miss!

They provide additional services so make sure to check their website. The washer and dryer machines are fantastic (Huebsch). Roughly 23 minutes in the washer! I'd recommend downloading the app as you can pay and receive credits for each washer/dryer cycle. The app will also show how many machines are available and the remaining time left in the cycle. I've been going here a few weeks because my washer is broken. I am very glad I found this place and have been returning weekly.
