We tried Kyoto cold brew that's made from the glass apparatus and it was so good. We are very picky about our cold brew, and it was within the range we could accept-- not overly acidic, strong roasted flavor but not overshadowed by the bitterness. It hit all the checkmarks for us. Even after a day old it was still reallly good. Server was also super helpful in getting us suggestion for another specialty drink. We avoided the sweeter ones so landed on the London smog latte with steamed oat milk, 2 shots of expresso, earl gray and cane syrup. The earl gray flavor was just perfect with the coffee and oat aroma. One of the best flavors coffee we've had. After the tea got steeped for a while it got a bit too strong but I still liked it at a lot. I love that it's aromatic without being overpowered by sweetness. read more

BrewLab is such a solid coffee spot in Champaign! I'm from out of town and have been here twice! That's a testament in itself. I've had both a hot vanilla latte and an iced crème brûlée latte here and loved them. The vanilla was smooth and cozy, and the crème brûlée was creamy, sweet, and just the right amount of indulgent. Delicious coffee in a third-wave setting. The drinks are well crafted. Their drip coffees are brewed freshly, and there are options of a couple different beans. The espresso is pulled for a smooth shot. Their offerings resemble those of corporate coffee shops, despite some of the indie trappings. The beans come from a national wholesaler, and many specialty drinks are based on syrup flavors. I get the impression that this used to be an indie shop but that its character changed as it scaled up. The upshot is that they make generally agreeable coffee drinks that cost a little more than usual. read more

I tried BrewLab for the first time this last Saturday and I loved this coffee shop! The inside was so cute and welcoming, and they had an extensive menu named after the employees! I got the Drew and my husband got the Alyssa. His was a flavored latter and it was arguably one of the best lattes I've ever had, I got a cold brew with cinnamon coconut cold foam! The cold foam was amazing as well, but the cold brew had this weird twang to it. I love cold brew, it's pretty much all I drink and I would not get the cold brew here again unfortunately. But I would definitely be open to try their other non-cold brew menu items! read more

Stopped in for better coffee than what was offered in my hotel room. I opted for a large black sesame matcha and added two shots of espresso. The space is small and cozy and they have a few small tables outside for when the weather is nice. The menu is pretty extensive with seasonal offerings (one of which was the black sesame matcha) and fresh pastries. I really liked that they had a Staff Picks section that I assume is their staff's favorite drinks named after them. The chalkboard along the wall detailed each drink. This cute little cafe right off green street is a perfect study spot for in between classes. Both of our croissants were delicious and the perfect temperature. The dirty chai with vanilla was very very good, exceptionally godo! def a new go to order! I tried the strawberry cold brew with almond milk and it was actually delicious! The coffee shop is connected to a bike shop and you can choose to sit in the bike shop if you want a quieter environment to study. It has a clean, modern vibe and feels like a creative space, especially with the white board walls that are already filled with tons of quotes and drawings.
