100% Swiss beef = 200% price increase! ---…read more What should you do BEFORE you enter a foreign country on a Sunday evening? Change Swiss Francs. I say again, CHANGE SWISS FRANCS. So after a long day of traveling, we finally made it into town at 6pm. All the banks are closed (of course), and all the restaurants offer dishes for 25-30 CHF per dish (multiply by 1.3 to get a sense of price in $ - btw, this is a realistic exchange rate when you factor in actual rates offered plus commission). Not good when we are left with $30 for the two of us. The golden arches instantly become our savior... Sort of. A Big Mac combo meal costs 11 CHF A McChicken wrap (or its equivalent here) costs around 4 CHF. Their extra value menu is equally gilded. A cheeseburger (single cheeseburger, mind you) is 2.50 CHF. even a ketchup packet is 0.20 CHF. At least we were able to grab something for under 20 CHF. But you know the old saying, you don't appreciate what you have till it's gone? Well, now you know. Moral of the story: Definitely make sure you change money before you head to another country!

I could not have picked a better place. We came here on a Thursday night and we were able to get seated right away. The ambiance and interior of this restaurant spared no detail left behind. It was hard to believe that we were still in Switzerland. We began with a really nice bottle of Pinot Grigio wine right from the central part of Italy. For starters, I ordered the PASSATELLI IN BRODO DI VERDURA soup, which is Spatzle (Swabian noodle) in a vegetable broth. It was absolutely delicious and was served fresh and at the perfect soup temperature. I then had the RISOTTO AL LIMONE E TARTUFO as the first course. This was the most amazing Risotto that I've ever had. The truffle oil together with lemon and black truffle really put this dish over the top. For the main course, I had the SCALOPPINE DI VITELLO AL PROFUMO DI TARTUFO, which is veal cutlet with truffle cream sauce and black truffle. This was paired with some of the most amazing potatoes I've ever had. For dessert, I was graced with some of the best Tiramisu. Surely I didn't even have the room for dessert but I'm glad I partook. My colleague and I were the last to leave the restaurant at about 11:30pm. We had a delightful conversation with the owner and got to learn about the history of the restaurant and the owner's passion for bike riding along with his month-long trip to the US about five years ago. The waiter was very friendly and was good with the recommendations. The food we got were part of a special menu they had and was simply delicious. The prociutto was fresh but didn't come with any thing to accompany it. The highlight was the pumpkin risotto with mozzarella -- super flavorful and filling. And as for the tiramisu.... It was the best tiramisu I have had (I've been to Italy and there are variations in tiramisu but this one was simply well portioned with really fresh ingredients). Overall we enjoyed this place as the food was much better than other alternatives around the area. Took a star off because service took a longer time due to popularity and also because the appetizers were not memorable.
