My sister and I came up with the idea of giving our parents photos of ourselves for Christmas last year. We don't live in the same town, so we had Brian do a photo shoot of us when she visited over the summer. My sister and I had been up almost the entire night before the shoot, so we were convinced that we'd look exhausted in the photos, but Brian was able to capture photos that made us look great. The images showcased our relationship really well in a way that was fun and relaxed. I am a graphic designer, so I tend to be hyper-critical of photography, especially when it comes to prints. Last year I used Brian for my engagement pictures and for my wedding! Worth every dime! Brian flew out to NYC to help us do a fun city engagement photo shoot. Me and my husband were really nervous about the whole shoot because we're not the most relaxed in front of the camera-- but Brian really made us feel cared for and most of all he respected our time! One great thing about his style of shooting he knows how to capture the best shot within a few takes. Our wedding experience was great as well and again Brian flew to wherever we needed him- this time in Seattle. We both felt like we were in good hands the entire day and trusted that he would not make us look bad at any angle- the day felt very care free for us! I cannot recommend him enough! Brian Hawkins is an excellent photographer. We hired him for our engagement and wedding photos and cannot say enough good things about him. We LOVE our photos!! The engagement shoot was so much fun. Brian made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera & the pictures turned out fabulous!! We didn't know where we should do the photo shoot and Brian had many great suggestions. The area in Palos Verdes he recommended was perfect. The wedding was such a wonderful, special day. Brian & his assistant Stephanie Franje captured the most precious moments. Brian created a schedule for the day and it flowed very smoothly. Our ceremony was on a golf course and we mentioned that afterwards we wanted to take photos at the beach one mile away. We don't live in the area and were unfamiliar with the beaches in San Clemente, but Brian & Stephanie researched them in advance and found a gorgeous stretch of secluded beach that produced the most amazing sunset shots. Brian & Stephanie both have an eye for great shots. No cheesy photo posses, just quality shots to capture the moments. Brian does amazing editing that brings out the best. He was always on time, very easy to get in touch with, responds quickly to questions and offered great suggestions and advice. Brian took photos for our wedding and has also taken some solo portraits of each of us as well. Our wedding wasn't very traditional (no white dress, no cake, no speeches, etc.), but Brian was great about getting the types of shots we wanted. He was also very professional about preparing--he visited the sites ahead of time and researched where the sun would be, as well as the tide (beach ceremony) so that he would have all the equipment he needed to deal with the conditions. He also does great post-processing work, all at a reasonable price. Sometimes Brian may seem to take a long time setting up a shot, but trust him and go with it--he has a great eye for composing and framing a shot so that it is both unique and beautiful. He is also always experimenting with different types of lighting, poses, processing techniques, etc. Be sure to check out his landscapes and fine art photographs as well--they are gorgeous, especially his prints on metallic paper and his HDR photographs. Some take my breath away every time I see them. If you are looking for a photographer for any event, Brian is your guy! We had the pleasure of having him photograph our engagement session as well as our wedding and we are SO happy with his work! Brian is incredibly accommodating, reasonably priced and so nice and easy to work with. My husband and I live in the SF Bay Area, but our wedding took place on Catalina Island. We found Brian online and, through email, I could already tell he was going to be a dream photographer. Our engagement session took place in Southern California where he was gracious enough to meet us. From the get-go, Brian was so nice, very mellow and allowed us to be totally relaxed and normal and really captured that through his photos. Even when the weather was overcast, he turned that into the best photo session I could have asked for and really made me appreciate taking photos on a cloudy day. We had so many compliments from our wedding guests as to how nice, efficient and inconspicuous Brian was on our wedding day. Brian was the photographer for my wedding in October 2011 and I'm so thankful we hired him! He listened carefully to the type of wedding we wanted and what type of photos we were hoping to get, then he did what all great vendors do and gave us more than we asked for or could have imagined ourselves. Really disappointed in the lack of professionalism. Brian agreed to photograph two related events I was throwing over the phone. We agreed on a price, I gave him the address, the dates, the times, etc. He told me he would send a confirming email. That never came but since he confirmed availability, price, etc. over the phone, I assumed that we were locked down and ready to go. A few weeks passed and I reached out to confirm. One voicemail went unanswered. Then an email. Then another voicemail. Then another email and a text message. Nothing. So now I am left one week prior to my first event with no photographer (as far as I can tell) frantically trying to find a replacement. Can't speak to the quality of his work but I cannot believe a professional would not have the decency to respond to a voicemail, email, etc. Really not cool. read more

Brian did an amazing job on our engagement session. He was great to work with, very courteous, and had lots of ideas for different shots and backgrounds. Our pictures came out perfectly with lots of styles and filters to choose from. We used them on our Save the Dates and as decorations at our wedding. My wife and I got compliments from all of our friends and family about how great all of the pictures looked.
