We always stop in here when we come to Houston. It's conveniently located around from our lawyers office and the perfect place to stop and shop for a bit (we never get in early enough to eat before so we come shop here first and go eat somewhere after) They have adorable gifts section for kids and clothing and candles and decor! Recently changed insurance companies and thought I'd try Briargrove Pharmacy as a safe alternative to the dicey, poorly managed CVS near my home. Transferred my prescription, but when I arrived the price was much higher than what I was quoted online. The lady rudely said the pharmacy didn't accept my RX insurance; she was very short with me. I also asked if she could discard my old prescriptions (2 bottles of pills), and she said it would be $5. No explanation on why. (I would have paid this had she been a little less rude with me.) I left with my expired drugs and no prescription. Won't go again. read more

I really love the personal feel of this place. The staff are always bright and welcoming. It is the perfect spot to pick up a gift and a card, or if you just need a last minute toiletry. I have found myself coming here shopping for unique birthday cards and ornaments, as well as children's gifts and elegant scented candles. Things change out a lot, so there is always something new to see! Same parking lot as the 24 Hour Fitness. There are some designated spots just for Briargrove Pharmacy customers, which is great considering the lot is always busy with gym-goers. There is also a pharmacy and a post office inside! I use the post office a lot. They used to be cash-only, but recently switched to accepting credit card as well. The post office hours are different from the rest of the store: M-F 9am-5pm, and open Saturday beginning at 9am (I think they may close a little earlier on Saturdays). Please don't waste your time to go to this place!!!! This morning I and about 4 other customers arrived 4 minutes before they opened at 9:00 am (not very early btw) All of us tried the door, which was locked, but for some reason it would swing out toward you, but still had the dead bolt engaged. The lady just stood there and said " we open in 5 minutes". Literally made us all stand there like idiots. It's 5 days before Christmas and you can't accommodate customers who are right in front of you??? This was the first time I had ever been there, horrible first impression. I will not go back and definitely won't give them my business, I'll be sure and let all friends and family know to stay away also. I recently had surgery and because I have to stay off my foot I needed a pharmacy that delivers as the other chains don't. I found Briargrove on Yelp and so happy I did. The pharmacy was extremely helpful in suggesting some medicine I needed on two separate occasions and when I called looking for a supplement the doctor suggested they ordered it and had it the next day. It's hard to find so I was supper excited and the cashier also honored a mail coupon I got from their stores. I recently had a total hip replacement and needed various assistive devices. I ordered from Amazon and they were lost and then the replacements delayed. I needed things immediately and called Briargrove pharmacy. I spoke to a real person with a real interest in providing excellent customer service. Stay away from the post office inside the store!! The rude miserable woman that runs it is consistently hostile and negative. Some people just shouldn't work with the public. It's a shame as the other employees are usually friendly and helpful. I'll take standing in an hour long line at the regular post office over dealing with this lady any day. Very consistent in not having prescriptions ready. 4/7 times I have gone I have had to come back the next day even after waiting two to five days for them to prepare the prescription. They do not go out of their way to fix their mishaps. I'd recommend another pharmacy. read more

Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. I have visited them on at least four occasions to fill a compound prescription for my daughter, and on each and every visit they have shown an alarming consistency of treating customers like shit. Here are a few examples: 1. Never filled my prescription until I arrived (a complete hassle) despite numerous entreaties on my part to have it ready for pick-up. 2. It took them no less than TWO HOURS and multiple phone calls on my part to my insurance company to have them work out coverage. I had to basically do their work for them. 3. They are a very high-traffic pharmacy that makes customers wait for an hour or more (see above #1 & 2), with no sitting area. 4. No one has ever smiled at me, or even PRETENDED to give two shits about me or my prescription. Rude, uncaring, inefficient, disorganized. 5. They charged me $120 for my daughters script. Fine, that's their price. When we went to another pharmacy because we were so sick of Briargrove, the other pharmacy charged us half that. Not to mention they are what amounts to 10 pounds of crap in a 2 pound bag. The entire store looks like Joan River's estate sale exploded onto the shelves. The Fire Marshall would probably have an aneurism just walking in there, and I would bet money that the handicapped have trouble navigating the resale shop they call a business. Briargrove Pharmacy is one of my favorite places. I love to visit during the holidays. It feels like you have stepped back in time. You can pull up to the door and shop for gifts, mail them with the post office in the back and pick up your medication. This is the most unique pharmacy. The only thing missing from this locally owned hidden gem is a soda fountain with ice cream floats. I just found out they offer bio identical hormones. I'm I love with this place! Negative review!!!! This is a pharmacy that should not be used. I had a prescription transferred over from another compound pharmacy. Briargrove stated they would fill the order. 7 days later the medication had not arrived. I noticed they charged my charge card $107.00, and I never received the medication. I contacted them and I was told " I had to personally track it down with the post office " they are not responsible". Actually, exact words were " they are not responsible once it left there facility. I stated they took my money, but I didn't receive what I paid for. They again stated to call the post office and now I am out $107.00 plus my medication.They showed a lack of professionalism, and caring for other individuals that are in need of their services. This is truly what pharmacies were before the mass produced ones appeared. You know your pharmacist and the pharmacy employees. They are extremely helpful and call you by name because they take the time to know you. Should you be ill or postoperative your stuck at home, they deliver for a small fee. I switched because a pharmacy tech was constantly rude and not helpful. I'm glad I did and I don't plan on leaving. read more

I only gave one star because I have to, they deserve NEGATIVE STARS!! I am a disabled chronic pain patient. I called after they came highly recommended. I asked if they carried a certain manufacturer, immediately the man says "I will not tell you who our manufacturers are unless you show me your RX". I said before you assume anything you should listen to a potential customer as I tried to explain I am disabled, live 30 miles away, the other 2 manufacturers make me extremely ill, they came highly recommended even though I live 30+ miles away and I was willing to drive there every month. Even if they were the only pharmacy in the state of Texas I would NEVER give them by business!! Obviously the reputation of that part of town is correct. This pharmacy literally just saved my sister's life for being open during the flooding from hurricane Harvey. The Walgreens across the street only gave her 20 pills of a 120 pill prescription which she didn't see until after they closed on Friday. She takes 4 pills a day and was going to be out on Thursday. If she didn't get these meds she would have had a seizure and gone into shock. Thank goodness for this loyal and amazing pharmacy. They were so sweet and caring to help get my sister what she needed even though she had never gone there before. She will be moving ALL of her prescriptions to this location. THANK YOU!!! read more

This pharmacy is amazing. The pharmacist went in on a Sunday night (they are closed then) and filled my prescription. Had he not done this, I would have been miserable and possibly had a fever by the morning. This is the second time they have "saved" us. A few years ago our one year old was VERY sick and needed a nebulizer machine/breathing treatment. No walgreens or other pharmacy was open or was out of this machine. The pharmacist met my husband and 11pm in the parking lot, gave him the machine, and said "no charge the register is off. Come pay for it when you return it." 30 years ago this probably happened al the time, today....I'm not so sure. read more

It took four tries at changing my doctor in their records and the owner claimed that his staff is properly trained. They told on Tuesday I had a valid prescription with refills on Tuesday and I told them to refill them on Thursday. On Friday, I had no refills and they wanted to fax my old doctors. After 2 years of going to this pharmacy I am switching to Wallgreens, Randalls, Costco heck anybody else but Briargrove pharmacy. It took me 2 years to realize they don't know what they are doing. I thought because they all had on white coats and are up high on a platform they knew their business. They have made mistakes with medicine, insurance, co pays you name it. I'm not even sure the people that work there are even pharmacists. Even if you call in 2 days ahead of time for a refill it won't be there when you show up. You will sit there behind every old timer from Tanglewood all disgruntled wondering where their medicine is. On a weekend I had a Rx filled and that night I noticed there was only a couple of teaspoons of liquid in the bottle. The next Monday the "pharmacist" said that I needed a new prescription. Couldn't she have told me that on Saturday? It was seizure medicine for my disabled son for gosh sakes it was kind of important. What if I had thrown the bottle in a bag and left town without checking it? Was I supposed to read her mind? In addition I insisted from the beginning that I had a secondary payer in addition to my private insurance and they assured me I didn't, just give us your credit card please. I finally pushed it and it turns out I do have a secondary payer to cover whatever the first payer won't. This had been in their computer the entire time I have been going hundreds of dollars in wasted co pays to them. David the owner shrugged it off and came up with a bunch of weak blah blah. I was really hoping he would make it right but he didn't. He is a small business owner and the buck stops with him. If it had been Wallgreens I could have gone up the chain. That is why I don't shop at boutiques or small business owners. The pharmacy does carry some hard to find things like food thickener etc, weight gain powder that I use for my son etc. But most of it is just tacky junk. Best Pharmacy in town!! Once again, they have surpassed my expectations. Our insurance company was no longer taken at this awesome.pharmacy and it pretty much broke my 89 year old fathers heart. They're the only pharmacy in town that knows how to treat patients with very exceptional needs and I couldn't imagine going back to another big box chain so sit in line, be disrespected, and have nothing but problems. However, the staff at this location made my father a priority and was able to work their magic and get his insurance accepted once again. Now thats customer service! And if you have a REAL prescription, that other "pretend" pharmacies dont have (why call yourself a pharmacy, if you can't service the needs of people who need real.medications..
