My initial thought was having to travel into Brisbane's CBD and spend mucho dollars on parking and trying to such a business, but there it was, a shining saviour of time, travel and hassles. The owner of Black Tie-White Lace has had this hidden gem operating in The Gap for over 15 years and I guess it's like one of those businesses that you never seek out, until the occasion arises. They carry an extensive range of other items too like bridal gowns and those for bridesmaids, children's suits, jewellery and even shoes! I believe if more people knew just how good the service and quality of workmanship was here all of the other alterations businesses would soon be out of business. I often come here and ask If I could get my pants/jeans etc altered within the hour and irrespective of how busy they are they always achieve this without a hassle. They are always friendly and accommodating and I have never been disappointed with the result, on top of that they offer some of the cheapest alterations around. Even the more complex and time consuming alterations like those associated with suiting and leather goods they seem to do it with ease and for an exceptional price. I have had friends get wedding dresses made and altered, clothes made from fabric cut offs they have had lying around, silk saddles put into jeans, moth holes repaired and restored, everything you can imagine they offer. And, yes, it was truly divine - a beautiful, light-as-air, floaty, fuschia and bright orange silk maxi that I could just see myself wafting around Brisbane in. A lesson in this season's colour blocking trend - the Queensland way.
