There is not a playground here (sorry kiddos) but what you do find are many trails to walk and enjoy . You actually might not even see another person . This is a huge park with many trails intersecting one another. There are plenty of informative signs all around, benches and just tranquil scenery. How could you not like sitting beside a creek listening to the sounds of nature. Most parks miss the whole point of what a park is supposed to b. There is history around if you look hard enough . I have been twice so far and haven't seen all the trails yet. You will see turtles sunning themselves and colorful birds They have one bathroom at the entrance and a pavilion with picnic tables right beside the parking area. If you like nature (as I do!) , wildlife, and peace and quiet this is your jam. It is mine:) Now women word of warning I wouldn't come here by yourself straight up. The place is so huge and I'm sorry if you go on the long trails it could b dangerous. Just b cautious and observant. So this is a more of a wild park than people are used to. The parking lot is gravel. If you love to explore nature as I do! You should love it:) I love the history of this place which many parks erase or don't highlight enough (Alabaster cough cough) So take a water bottle, a snack, and love of exploring and go check this place out. Please though respect the park don't litter, and have some time in nature. Quietly please ... First, I don't live in this town but this park kept popping up on my feed as an uncommon wonder in Alabama, only 45 minutes from my house...how did I not know this?! Anyways, I took a nice ride to the town of Montevallo. Immediately, I saw families playing in the water, walking their dogs, sitting on the colorful swings, fishing and playing volleyball. What a great park to play, exercise and just enjoy yourself. There are plenty of benches and tables to sit, eat a meal, play board games, cards and/or relax and watch the flowing water or the bubbling waterfall. Now, let's get to the wonder of these tree carvings. Each tree is a unique piece of art. I can only imagine what goes through the minds of children as they walk through and see the faces and creatures that are so pronounced in these carvings...the stories that are formed in their little minds. Such a place to stretch your imagination! Anyone living in the area should definitely check out this park. I can only imagine the fun that takes place on this beautiful property.

This beautiful, well maintained park is where you want to go for a peaceful walk, to get away from…read morethe hustle and bustle of the city, or look for "Kindness" rocks. It doesn't look like much on the outside.The parking area is large and gravel covered. They have handicapped parking right next to the bridge that is the entrance to the park. The bridge crosses Goose Pond Creek. People often fish from the bridge or just prop up to take in the peaceful flow of water and see if they can glimpse the fish below. The park just received an update. The much used, cracked and broken walking trail has been re-paved and looks wonderful, cutting through the grass, trees, and flowers. Multiple benches line the walk way, providing nice shady spaces to relax or read. Lamps provide light for late afternoon to late night visitors. Also on the walking trail are a set of restrooms that are usually clean. There is plenty of room to play here, among the trees. Look closely and you may find a Kindness Rock. For those unfamiliar with these little happy pick me ups, Kindness Rocks are rocks or pavers that people paint positive happy artwork on and hide for others to find and collect. The idea is that one message, at the right time, can change someone's entire day, outlook, life. Some are quite beautiful. There are Facebook groups dedicated to giving clues where to find them. Come try to find some or paint your own and leave them in the park to brighten someone's day. Squirrels are plentiful, here, and almost tame. They are used to visitors bringing them peanuts and will follow you. The park has a nice pavilion for picnics or parties. It's quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately, if you have a dog, they can not accompany you across the bridge, into the main park. Dogs are more than welcome on the long walking trail right before you cross the bridge to your right, though. It will take you straight across to the city park, which has a children's playground, pavilion, walking trail, picnic tables, base ball fields, tennis courts, and disk golf. Goose Pond Park stays pretty busy. There are usually people walking the trails anytime you visit. The shade from the trees gives welcome relief from the heat in the Summer. I highly recommend you check it out.

This was a last-minute stop based on a sign I saw along the side of the road, and it was absolutely…read moreworth it! I had some difficulty finding it, as there is a town called "Natural Bridge." Google directed me there, and not to the park, itself, which caused some confusion. Coming in from the I-10, take highway 13 North to road 278. Turning RIGHT takes you to the town. Turning LEFT takes you to the bridge. There are some signs, but they are worn, and obscured by vegetation. Arriving at the park, one is immediately greeted with picturesque views, and a trickling creek. The trees are majestic, and the parking ample. It's important to remember that this is rural Alabama, and not some big city. The admission is inexpensive, and the trails are simple. The people that run the gift shop are country folk, and are very kind. Mind your manners (and your children). Stay on the trails, walk carefully, and do what the sign says - "Take only pictures .....leave only footsteps. With that said, this place was amazing. The bridge is absolutely breathtaking, as is the rock formation called "Indian Head." Many inscriptions - some over 100 years old - are carved into the surrounding sandstone. There is dripping water under the bridge, so watch your step! The trail is primitive and there are roots sticking out here and there - be careful! Shoes with traction are a MUST here for safety reasons! Enough said - go enjoy this natural wonder for yourself!

He opened the store for us and he filled us in on the history of the place and showed us how the mill worked. It was very interesting to us. We bought the grits and cornmeal that had been freshly done the day before. The restroom was locked when I went (has number pad for the campers ) So we had to ask for it to b unlocked. The restroom was very nice . They have a covered bridge and peaceful trails. The trails unfortunately are not marked very well at all. We were afraid we would get lost so we didn't stay in the woods much. They have a camp ground for RVS and plenty of space . You can bring a tent :) Nice, little side trip w/ a bit of history.

A couple miles down the road I crossed paths with yet another sign for Kymulga, to which I kept driving. But then it started weighing on my mind and I decided to GPS it to see how far away it was. 5 miles...I'm early for my meeting, let's give this a try. Arriving at the park they have very reasonable rates ($3.00) and the place (considering it is the dead of winter) is really quite pretty. Only explored for a few minutes, since I needed to get back on the road, but they have disk golf and hiking along with fishing (license is required). Several picnic benches located around the covered bridge. Would make for a fun spot to go do additional exploring. Will definitely plan a day trip here....plus based on the other Yelp reviews there seems to be some good BBQ in the area.

The bathroom facilities were actually decent. At parks, the bathrooms can be less than what is desired but you can tell these are regularly cleaned. Overall, it's a nice park!

The park features a soft gravel walking trail, shaded by beautiful pecan trees, workout equipment, a playground with a climbing wall, nice clean restrooms, and a nice pavilion. The park is well lit at night and features free movies in the park in the Summer. Thorsby's Swedish Fest and Strawberry Festival are both held here. I encourage you to go to both. They are fun for the entire family. I really enjoy this park. It's a very pleasant place to unwind.
