My daughter went from a struggling student whom felt so low about her abilities that she missed more school than she attended to a confident student who is so eager to attend school that she is disappointed when the school day end. Since starting at Oak Learners, my daughter is much more willing to take chances in learning (she went from to being a reluctant non-reader to an enthusiastic beginner reader who isn't shy any more to ask for help). We did the March Break camp and it's so rare to have a real arts space that feels a bit gritty in a…read moregood way. My nearly-6 year-old daughter loved immersing in the various media (sculpture, printmaking, painting) and spending a half day just creating. I love that it's in a space that still feels like a home--how long till we no longer have spaces with wood trim and narrow hallways? Definitely not a modern aesthetic, but for us that was truly part of the comfortable, welcoming, artsy vibe. The instructor really noticed my daughter's particular abilities and we enjoyed discussing art--she was leaving teaching to pursue her own painting with more focus and I wish her well!
