I have boy-girl twins that just went through the process, so I am well qualified to comment. My kids ran quite different searches and had different support needs. BH College Coach made some suggestions based on my kids' strategies and working styles and my kids chose the coaches they worked with. That was huge and both pairs worked together great. Both coaches knew the process and strategy cold, and provided invaluable structure, organization and motivation. Notably, there wasn't a hint of stress (for either team) as the November early application deadline approached. When I had random questions, I was impressed by the institutional resources they had to answer them. Both of my kids got into their ED schools, so of course I am a delighted customer. But I would have written the same review before we got those decisions. I can highly recommend BH College Coach. read more

Very good guidance for college, in picking classes, activities, colleges and the application process.

Had an appointment scheduled and the coach never called. Checked the time, date, number, and time zone and all were correct. Tried to follow up with the number given, but despite it being during business hours the call went right to voicemail. A complete waste of time. read more

My experience with Becky was truly remarkable, culminating in my admission into numerous top 25 schools and subsequent attendance of Northwestern this year. She gave me so much help throughout last year, both in terms of admissions advice and just telling me to get my butt in gear and stop procrastinating. She never failed to leave me with my head swirling with ideas after a meeting, and perhaps more importantly, she was one of the few people who were willing to call me on my bs, whether it be overestimating my admissions chances or my idea that I could procrastinate and still put together quality applications. I paid for a coaching session for my daughter and after telling her that one school she wanted to transfer to was too good for her, they spent the rest of the hour telling her to just go on the Internet and find some other school. They offered zero suggestions about other schools whatsoever. I am only glad that I negotiated them down to a single hour before springing for a package because they had zero advice or guidance. I recently had a phone counseling with one of the coaches and was very disappointed. She came in unprepared (didn't read the materials I submitted ahead) and refused to read it at the meeting. The meeting was scheduled for 45 mins but it ended after 2 mins. I feel it's totally a waste. read more

Steve Fernandez-Brennan was the perfect guide through my college applications. At the end of junior year, I was pretty stressed about college applications, and I didn't have the knowledge I needed to push through it all. When I started working with Steve, he immediately changed the way I saw the process, focusing on getting the best value out of the colleges I was selecting and making sure I was applying to the right colleges for me. On the writing front, Steve was the perfect mentor. He allowed me to take the reins and express myself while making sure I stay on track. I found that by working with him, I began to understand the process more myself and his teachings helped me navigate through the chaos that is college admissions. I was accepted to 10 of the 12 universities I applied to, including my top schools UCLA and Cal. Extremely pleased with College Coach. Great customer service and answered all my questions when we were considering hiring them, spot-on advice on choosing a coach, wonderful coach who handled the whole process and our son's strengths and weaknesses beautifully. From getting to know him, to crafting the college list and honing it down, applications and essays and timelines, visits and interviews, deciding early action vs. regular decision - the entire process was handled beautifully. Never had any issues reaching or meeting with our coach. We began one year ago (April of Junior year). Since we homeschool, our coach also helped me tremendously with all I had to do as the "guidance counselor". I have two kids, 14 months apart. We hired College Coach for the full ride, the whole four years of high school, both kids. They gave us indispensable service for the whole 4 years of each kid: from which APs to take, what was "too big a load" of APs, cooling our anxieties and giving the best advice at each curve in the road. My son was in THE most competitive environment for applying out (NYC's best high school) to Ivies and MIT, et al: i.e. his high school seemingly had a 'cap' for numbers of accepted students because the whole student body was so talented. College Coach, as I say, guided and nurtured every step of the way. When it came time to the applications, writing essays, and interview prep, College Coach actually switched us to another person, and this was an awesome Coach in the extreme. I won't mention her name, but I think everyone at this company cares, pays great attention to detail, and helps in every way. I've referred at least three other kids/parents to the company, and as I've been saying privately (now publicly), I think College Coach is one of the best companies I've ever encountered, both privately and professionally, in my adult life here in Manhattan. I'm a theatre producer, my wife is a designer, and believe me, between the two of us, this company shepherded us (and our kids) WELL. Our son is in MIT, our daughter in Penn, and I recommend College Coach very very highly. Top rating. read more
