The manager as he called himself, sitting in the truck smoking cigarettes n throwing them in my yard was very rude. refused to let me read our contract he kept pushing me to sign it. By the time we got to Ohio from SC took them five days. Our contract with bright star was pick up one day delivered the next. Cost us four nights in two different motels. EXTRA EXPENSE FOR US. CHARGED US 696.00 in packing supplies for four mirror n two TV'S. we packed everything in 22 gallon totes new totes not old n brittle. THEY PUT MOVING TAPE AROUND ALL BOXES. THEY KEFT A MESS IN MY OLD HOUSE WITH THEIR SHOE PRINTS N LEFT THEIR TRASH EVERYWHERE. WE HAD TO PAY 150.00 for someone to come in n clean up after them. The manager refused to let us give them water n it was mid summer. OUR ORIGINAL QUOTE WAS 2700.00, G&M moving n storage 56 new hook road suite118 BAYONNE,NJ 07002 was who bright star subcontracted us to. When we got to Ohio we had to wait two days on the truck, our new home was totally empty. Our contract state final payment upon delivery after our payment to BRIGHTSTAR OF 2700.00, sand guys who loaded us delivered our furniture, we had called and asked for someone else, another crew. They were very rough loading our stuff did not even get all our stuff on the truck. Refused to open the back of the truck till we paid him another 4300.00. We called local PD after driver got in my husband face and pushed him, my husband is 70 years old with a walker. Police came took all our information said movers considered furniture in the truck on the property was considered delivered!, Our contract stated they would put things where we wanted them. They just packed it in. They did put beds together set one tv on stand, my new 65 in flatscreen I got two months before for my birthday, screen was shattered. Our empty n we showed them it was empty was beat with a hammer n the lock cut off of it. We called cops back out but they said we can't prove they did it or what state? They lie right out of the gate when they say they are a family business {maybe Mafia} and have been in business a long time. Huh! They are con artists and moving BROKERS. That bright new shiny truck shown on their web site with their name on it turned into a beat up old yellow truck with no name on it with two movers, one which could not speak English. The first thing they did was start charging me more and more money which of course requires deposits. So they start at around $5000 and when all is said and done end up at $10000. Then my CONFIREMED pick up date was two days late. They did not contact me and due to the time change and their early Saturday closing it was too late to contact them. Since I was moving across country this really messed up a lot of things. It takes hours and hours to plan a move like this. What I didn't plan for was the moving company to be a fraud. To make things worse the delivery was made by ONE guy and it took him over eight hours to complete. Then he wanted a tip. Ha, ha. Fat chance. My furniture was all jammed into one room, although he did move the beds and dressers upstairs and a desk and chair. He set the beds up and that's when I started noticing the damage. My bed platform had a triangle shaped rip. It got worse from there on with a lot of damage and even missing items. In order to file a claim for damages, you have to use a claim company all movers are designated to use. At any rate they require documentation, one being the bill of lading. I had documentation except for the bill of lading. I had an email that said it was attached, but when you clicked on it there was one line that read "pick up is past". I called Bright Star too many times to count. Each time their response was "I'll get that for you shortly and send it on." It never came. I sent numerous emails and most times didn't even get a response. I am calling out their employees: Christian Munro, Jane (no last name on her email} and Yoheli (no last name). I have filed a complaint with the FMCSA/NCCDB and will be filing another with the Better Business Bureau. I've attached some of the pictures of my damaged items. Do not trust any 5 star reviews you read from this company. They are all fake reviews! They are also a broker, not a real moving company. I used them for my cross country move. Initially "Josh" and "Dani" seemed kind and personable. Josh told me there was a storage facility in the city I was moving to and that customer service would be available to me at all times. Come the day before the move and the day of, I could not reach anyone after multiple phone calls and voicemails left at different numbers. They never called me back. The storage facility that Josh told me about exists, but not in the city I was moving to but a city 1000 miles away. The movers they contracted with were Southern Elite Van Lines. These guys were 4 hours late because "the truck broke down" and showed up in a UHaul. They tried to scam me out of $1500 but I caught the "math error". When I did, the guy just smirked at me because he know they were trying to screw me. They also tried to get me to sign the contract without the correct total due at delivery. He said, "oh don't worry, we will fill it in for you." I said, you've got to be kidding me and made sure to fill in the correct amount myself before signing. They refused to give me and copies of the contracts so I took photos. The customer service at Brightstar never once called me back after I called multiple times thereafter. No delivery date was provided. On arrival, a different moving company (subcontractor) delivered my belongings. Items were promised in 4-6 days and arrived 12 days later. Fragile boxes were damaged, often stacked underneath non-fragile boxes. The flatscreen TV arrived with a crack. We had a clothes rack that was destroyed. The insurance they provide is basically non-existent. The most frustrating thing is that the estimate more than doubled although the list of items to be moved hardly changed. The customer service reps were rude. I spoke with Lucas, who falsely claimed that they were a legitimate moving company, stating all their trucks had logos and that they take photos and inventory of items. After discussing everything with him, I paid the deposit and finalized an agreement to pay the remaining balance upon delivery. On the day of pickup, the movers arrived four hours late in a $19.95 U-Haul truck. They gave me an excuse that their truck broke down, and they had to rent the U-Haul to complete the move. When I asked for their company name, they said it was Star Light Moving. They couldn't take all of my belongings because the truck was too small and promised to return the next day to pick up the rest. However, I repeatedly called Bright Star, but no one answered, and the movers never came back. I was forced to give away my $1,400 couch, leave my remote control bed base in the apartment, and throw away other items. The movers still have my king-size mattress, three flat-screen TVs, four poles to my canopy bed frame, and 20 boxes filled with kitchen items, clothes, and sentimental belongings. Afterward, they began calling me to increase the price beyond the original agreement, also demanding half the money upfront, contrary to the initial deal of full payment upon delivery. I did add 20 small boxes, 1 gaming chair, 8 tote bags, a puppet house and barbie house. Dannie said she was going to have to re-do the quote, because I went from 35 pieces to 71, I asked why it mattered that I was told I had 300 cubic feet and Carlene told me there was still room on the truck. I also asked why Carlene listed items such as the beds as 2 pieces and now that number has grown to 10. My quote doubled and now they were charging me $2545.22, this increased the cubic feet to 531. I should have canceled at this point, but I was going to lose my deposit. When the movers arrived they packed all the smaller stuff in the truck, it looked to be about 6ft, by 5ft, nowhere near the 531 cubic feet. The movers said they reached 71 pieces, and it was based on whatever came first the number of pieces or cubic feet. They wouldn't take the beds and dressers. They told us it would be an additional $2400.00, I forgot to mention they demanded we had to pay half the balance before they filled the truck and the remaining balance when they delivered our belongings. So at this point we are already out $1800.00. We told them they weren't getting any more money, they dropped the price to $1400. We told them to deliver what they had. We were told the movers would give us a delivery date, they said someone would call, on the way out they hit and damaged a tree. I called Bright Star immediately, they told me once they delivered my belongings they would review the phone calls and case with management and would refund if needed. I called every day for a delivery date, no one at Bright Star could help me, I swear the extensions and numbers changed every day. I finally received a call 11 days after pick-up that they would be at my house in four hours. Who operates like this. I've been calling Bright Star every day since, I've been disconnected and transferred to lines that just ring and no one picks up. As many of the other reviews have stated, they do not arrive on time and definitely do not arrive on the day of schedule. There is always an additional fee other than what was quoted. Furniture is not stored with furniture coverings and pads as advertised and will sustain damage. They promise three-day delivery and it is 3 weeks. You call for updates, no one knows anything and stop taking your calls. Their practices are misleading and a scam. They are not BBB certified. STAY AWAY from this company! I don't usually write bad reviews but this company deserves it. You pick a date for delivery and then the day after is also included as a back-up. I called them the day before my delivery date and they did not know when they were going to have it delivered and hadn't made the schedule yet. I was told they had 30 days to deliver. I told them if they weren't going to deliver when I needed them to, I wouldn't have chosen them. I have called customer service an they are rude and no help. Right now I have no idea when any items are going to be delivered and was told they'd call me in the next couple weeks. This is 2 weeks AFTER my picked delivery day. I had a horrible experience with Brite Star Moving Company. Initially, they persuaded me to sign the contract with them by kind promises of assistance before the move. However, this turned out to be false as they ignored my calls for help continually. After signing, their service quality plummeted from 10 to ZERO. The pickup coordinator was incredibly rude, yelling at me multiple times due to her inability to grasp my frustration over the unexpected price increase. My contract estimated the cost at approximately $1,900, yet on moving day, the price surged by an additional $500. This was baffling because I was assured by the representative that the price would remain fixed unless I added more items to the shipment. Contrary to adding, I also removed two items, but the cost still escalated. They have proven to be dishonest, and I suspect fraudulent practices. Now, this is their tactic: I am about to expose them. They quote you one price, and then on moving day, the driver claims your furniture exceeded the allotted space, demanding additional payment to ship the remaining items because you have to pay for the extra space. The driver also throw in my face that it was only an estimate, and not the final cost. The final cost is not presented to you until pick up day. So, despite assurances that my price would remain fixed, it did not. Furthermore, even when I mention about customers saying this happened to them, they deflect blame onto the customers, claiming price increases are due to additional items being added, but it's all a lie. Read the customer review because this company is also not trustworthy just like the rests of them. If multiple customers report similar issues, it indicates a systemic problem. I anticipate they will use this defense against me also after this review is published. Also, read your contract thoroughly because AFTER YOU MAKE THE FIRST INIALLY PAYMENTD THIER IS NO REFUNDS, so I had no choice but to proceed with the service since I had already paid an $800 upfront fee. However, what struck me as odd was the representative's demeanor; it seemed as though she took pleasure in telling me this. Nice to get your business but afterward their true face is shown.
