She was prescribed Norco and Gabapentin to manage post-surgical pain, which left her in a weakened state, and she was discharged to a rehabilitation facility of our choosing. After touring several facilities from Providence's recommended list, we selected Beachside Post Acute. We chose Beachside because we needed a facility that specializes in both physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT). It's a cozy, thoughtfully designed property in a breezy part of Torrance, conveniently located near both Walgreens and CVS. The building appears to have been a converted motor lodge, with a single-level layout that wraps around a central outdoor courtyard. This design allows each room to have either a window or sliding glass door, providing natural light and fresh air--something we found especially valuable. The PT staff have access to a dedicated room with specialized equipment, and both the main corridor and courtyard are used for assisted therapy sessions. There's also a recreation room and dining area where patients can enjoy meals outside their rooms, offering a welcome change of scenery. The kitchen serves nutritious, genuinely tasty meals--I can personally attest to that. What truly sets Beachside apart is the staff. They are compassionate, attentive, and clearly take pride in their work. To those who may read this--Susan, Marisol, Julius, Eva, Kimberly, Bryan, Alyssa, and everyone else--thank you. You made a difficult experience far more manageable, and we are deeply grateful.

However, my experiences with the nurses at the 200 station have been extremely disappointing. During multiple visits, I felt as though my questions were an inconvenience. The staff at that desk were not approachable or helpful, and their demeanor came across as "why are you bothering me?" I initially thought it might have just been a one-time interaction, but unfortunately, it happened more than once. When I went to other nursing stations, the staff were polite and willing to assist, which made the contrast even more noticeable. I understand that many facilities are understaffed and that healthcare workers are under a lot of pressure. I can be patient and understanding if someone is busy or brief. What was upsetting, however, was the dismissive attitude. When I asked to speak with the head nurse about my dad's condition, I was met with visible eye-rolling (yes, even behind a mask it's noticeable) and told to "write your note on a blank paper," after which the nurse looked away as if my concern wasn't important. On another occasion, I asked for help opening the family room, which was supposed to be open at 8:00 a.m. It was already 30 minutes past, and this was the second time I had asked. The only response I received was, "Well, it should be open," followed by being ignored. There was no offer to check on it or find someone who could help. Bringing a loved one to a facility like this is already emotionally difficult. A little kindness and basic courtesy go a long way. I hope this feedback encourages management to address the attitude and approach of the nursing staff at the 200 station. It would make a meaningful difference for families who are already going through a challenging time.

My dad is a strong-willed elderly man who is also blind, and the patience and compassion shown to him were remarkable. She said the food was great and the nurses were great and took care of all her needs. Mind you she called a meeting with the staff including the social worker to make sure everyone knew what she expected. The staff loved her and respected her. They worked with our hospice program closely to ensure all her medications were correct and towards the end they kept on top of any change and alerted hospice and us, the family immediately. The staff was very caring and professional in her last days and wonderful to our family while we suffered our loss. I gave them a 4 out of 5 stars because the night staff we felt could have been more attentive. We were very concerned towards the end because the night shift doesn't check or monitor the patients as often. We had to remind the night shift med nurse to continue her medications. We just ended up staying the last two nights with her so we were sure someone was with her. We recommend Vermont to anyone looking. Very clean facility and all staff from front office, to nurses to the house keeping were fabulous and we thank them for taking care of our grandmother.

With only 6 hours till mom was coming home, Cari told me all the supplies needed, where to go get them including the bedding that hospice failed to tell me we needed! She was invaluable to me and because of her we had caregivers for mom at the last minute!!!! Mom came home to soft bedding so she could be comfortable and she was so happy!!!! The supplies that were included with hospice arrived after mom passed so I donated them to Moms Home Care and finally got to meet Cari in person and give her so many hugs!!! Thank you again Cari!!!
