I was concerned that she cud have a kidney issue, pancreatitis, or UTI. SO I Hadd her blood drawn & paid for a full exam by the vet. Even though it was pet dental month, both vet doctor riehl AND & tech MISSED a huge cavity on her upper right top. I lifted up her gums & boom there it was...but I only found it after this visit. Doc wasn't sure what her issue was so he threw some antibiotics at me, which I gave her, why I don't know bc the lab work ddnt reveal any infection. After 2wks of no relief for my Lulu, I reached back out to the vet office for more info on her labs to inquire about what cud be causing her issue. I told the girl who answered the phone that their office had missed a big cavity. She gave me a quote & I told her that the doc should do it FOR FREE because of his & the vet tech's BIG MISTake on the cavity & no diagnosis of her severe anxiety onset overnight. Doc riehl decided to NOT MAKE this RIGHT for my dog, even though I gave this office several opportunities. But no, they just wanted to promote more things that cost more money, WITHOUT GIVING ME A REASON for why I brought my dog into the vet clinic IN THE FIRST PLACE. I then took my Lulu to a trusted vet in Colonial Heights, where the vet & people on staff ACTUALLY CARE about what's going on with the animal - more than the collection of more & more money. That seems to be what it's all about at Dr riehl's. MO MONEY. Without any answers. A missed Cushing's Diagnosis and a cavity MISSED, during pet dental care month. These people were ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. Be careful who you trust your animals with. This was my experience.

It took two days to get close enough to feed her, but after that we fed her every two hours and she had a very hearty appetite. She appeared on a Friday but I couldn't get an appointment with the Vet until Wednesday. My wife and I both held her in our laps off and on for three days. She had a small house on our back porch and she went in and out regularly. She followed me around like a puppy. We knew she needed to gain weight and so fed her every 2-3 hours and she always ate. At the vets office she was strong enough to climb out of her carry bag several times. She did have a temp of 98.3 which is low. She had some evidence of fleas though we never saw one and she never scratched herself. She was diagnosed with round worms. So, she was given dewormer, a distemper vaccine and then was rubbed down with Adams Flea and Tick Spray. The Dr. wasn't in the room for that, he had left and his assistant did this. She used a healthy dose, spraying it on her rubber gloves and rubbing the kitten from head to tail and a double dose around the neck, ears and head. I've read, wetting their skin with this flea spray can cause further hypothermia. But the spray also says not to use on kittens less than 12 weeks old. I left the office at 3 pm and by 6:15 the kitten was lifeless and limp as a dishrag. She collapsed attempting to get in her bed. She was halfway in her bed with legs and defecation, hanging outside. She lost all control and had zero, ability to move. We have a vet in our family who said the flea spray is toxic and the kitten can't handle it and we should give her a bath in dawn, blow dry her, wrap her up and put on a heat pad. When we bathed her, she was already basically dead. Just a little shallow breathing and she died shorthly after. I returned to the vet's office the next morning and asked to see the flea and tick spray. One of the girls brought it to me and I took pictures of the bottle and label. I also google what happens if you put this on a kitten that is too young and too small. The girls in the office were devastated. They let me talk to the Dr. Mark Riehl. I was in an examine room, he came in the back door and was defensive and dismissive and started to just leave on a few occasions. He told me the kitten had one foot in the grave when I brought her in, that she was flea infested and he was between a rock and a hard place trying to save her life. My question is, if she is eating, has people careing for her, why misuse a flea product that he has to know has side effects when used off label. If she was fragile, why not recommend a flea comb and dawn bath, keep feeding her and come back in a couple weeks once she builds some strenght? His demeanor was so calloused and he was clearly in cover his butt mode. When I was leaving he said, do you know there are thousands of stray kittens out there. I'm not sure what that meant? Like, go find another one? There was no discussion prior to using the flea treatment. Like, this could put your kitten at risk. I also called the Adams company, they had to file an EPA report for off label use that caused a death. They said we do not support any off label use. My purpose in going to talk with the clinic was hoping they would say, that was a mistake and we won't do that to other small kittens. But when the Dr. acted the way he did, I was left with no other options than to report him to the state board and go public with my concerns. I must add one disclaimer. The ladies at the front desk were full of compassion and empathy and told me they would research the product. I'm sure they have seen other things that have caused them concern.

Then when you bring $250 down payment they give you attitude because you cannot pay in full but do not understand why you might give it back when you are treated poorly. Long story short my dog had surgery and I had to find another vet to finish the job of taking out stitches and THEY STILL GET THE MONEY. If you cannot pay in full you better take the initiative to figure it out yourself or you may get blindsided as I did. I would click NO STAR but you have to select at least one.

Unfortunately, we were seen by a new, younger vet and NOT Dr. Presnell. The bloodwork came back less than favorable and she suggested they keep him for two nights. She said they couldn't keep him longer regardless of his condition because of a one day holiday (that should have been a red flag). I inquired about overnight hospitalization prices and was told it was $60 a night. We agreed. We called to get updates (they never called us with any information) and the one and only time they called back, I was told he seemed to be doing better with fluids and had taken a spoonful of food. After the second night, we picked him up with the expectation (by what we had been told up to that point) that he was doing a bit better and anticipated a $300-$500 vet bill. The bill was nearly $1000!!! We were then told "he may, or may not recover". I know there is no way to predict the outcome, but my dog came home even worse than he was. Once we saw him it was obvious that he hadn't improved at all. He refused to eat, vomiting and had labored breathing. I wish the vet had given us a true prognosis of how bad things were. I would have preferred a truth bomb that it was his time, rather than given hope when things were hopeless of improvement. I had to go to my regular vet and have him put down after having had him home for 1 1/2 hours. I felt horribly guilty that the last two nights of my aging dogs life were spent having test and being given injections surrounded by strangers.

I don't even want to put one star because these groomers drown my neighbors dog and her dog died 3…read morehours after the groomers and she took her to vet at that point and the vet said that her dogs lungs were full of water and they couldn't do anything for her dog and her dog had just left these groomers and went straight to the vet because she knew something was wrong with her fur baby and she died within 3 hours after groomers and she did not have her fur baby anywhere around water so I know you love your fur babies so I wouldn't think twice about taking my fur baby to these groomers.
