I've been taking my dogs to Dr Allen since the very early 2000's. You're not paying for fluff when…read moreyou utilize his expertise and you're not going to be coddled. If you like over paying for vet care, there are lots of vet practices owned by private equity firms that just care about profits. Weaverville is very fortunate to have an excellent affordable vet. Walk in care! I recommend him to everyone I know with a pet.

I called yesterday and was going to bring him in as a walk in. I have multiple sclerosis and had been without sleep for going on 28 hours, that's what I do for my pet. I called today at 4:45 due to the fact that my cat has suddenly took a turn for the worsen.Elizabeth was very snippy with me and said it was just too late in the day! I can decide what time my cat dies! She asked me if I wanted a check up on him or just euthanasia!!! I shop the euthanasia would be faster so Elizabeth could leave work on time! I apologized to her several times and told her I was all to pieces I'm trying to move and take care of a dying pet! This cat is my baby I love him more than I've ever loved any pet I've ever had! I then asked her if I could speak to a supervisor and she basically said no! She said she was going to ask Dr Allen if Rodney could be seen today. She said well you were going to bring him in yesterday. I held my cat a day yesterday it was it time to die, Elizabeth! I'm crying my eyes out and am very disappointed in this entire situation! How many times did o stay over when I was an employee at the hospital? When a patient needed care is when I stayed over past time to leave! Are they actually employees at a animal clinic or do they work at the mall? Very unprofessional!!!

A friend of mine has used Dr. Presnell for years with great success at a lower cost than my current…read morevets prices, and so when she was giving up an appointment slot I jumped at the chance to take it for my aging dog who needed to be seen. Unfortunately, we were seen by a new, younger vet and NOT Dr. Presnell. The bloodwork came back less than favorable and she suggested they keep him for two nights. She said they couldn't keep him longer regardless of his condition because of a one day holiday (that should have been a red flag). I inquired about overnight hospitalization prices and was told it was $60 a night. We agreed. We called to get updates (they never called us with any information) and the one and only time they called back, I was told he seemed to be doing better with fluids and had taken a spoonful of food. After the second night, we picked him up with the expectation (by what we had been told up to that point) that he was doing a bit better and anticipated a $300-$500 vet bill. The bill was nearly $1000!!! We were then told "he may, or may not recover". I know there is no way to predict the outcome, but my dog came home even worse than he was. Once we saw him it was obvious that he hadn't improved at all. He refused to eat, vomiting and had labored breathing. I wish the vet had given us a true prognosis of how bad things were. I would have preferred a truth bomb that it was his time, rather than given hope when things were hopeless of improvement. I had to go to my regular vet and have him put down after having had him home for 1 1/2 hours. I felt horribly guilty that the last two nights of my aging dogs life were spent having test and being given injections surrounded by strangers.
