The bristol beer festival is a Mecca for Beer fans. Held annualy for the past 11 years it has grown from strength to strength.
The tickets are limited and the demand is incredibly high, normally with ques strecthing round the corners from the few pubs that sell them. The reasin being is it is so damn good.
Organised and run by volunteers the cost is kept down to a minimum and full credit to everyone involved for all the hard work they do. If you are lucky enough to get a ticket on entering you will have to purchase tokens to buy drinks. Tokens are normally in 90p and 10p format with most halves of beer ranging from 90p upto 1.30p. What is nice if you have a few left over tokens at the end of festival (which i rarely do) you can hand them in and all proceeds go to charity.
Before talking about the beer (cider and perry also) lets talk about the other stuff.
By other stuff I mean the pub related games to play including skittles and other traditional pub games. There's also a souvenir stand where t-shirts, badges and other paraphanalia can be purchased. Most important to mention is the pasty stall. Selling freshly made pasty's and other snacks to fill and line stomachs.
And then there's the beers and the ciders and the perrys. Last year they had over 200 beers from around the uk. Some even further a field. There is something for everyone. Green organic beers, Strawberry lagers, dark milds, through to verging on deadly porters. It's worth going just to see the various names of the beers.
This is an absolute must for the seasoned beer drinker, the new comer and the curious. Simply Marvelous. read more
