I would not recommend this service. Although they did have very good nurses - generally LVNS the…read moremajority were unacceptable ...... sleeping on the job, leaving patients unattended while under 24 x 7 Crisis Care, workers given insufficient information with respect to address and location of patients resulting in frequent late arrivals of an hour or more, no estimated time of arrival for Crisis Care which varied by hours, inconsistent Case Manager patient/family arrival times making communication poor, disregard for families wishes to treat non terminal conditions, medication changes without consulting family before or after despite written request, scheduled 12 hour shifts that leave patients in Crisis Care unattended without notice of when or how long for "breaks" and "meals", unsecured controlled substances in substantial quantities by both nurses and Case Managers, assertion of total patient control despite patient inability to consent in ALL decisions with respect to patient care, lack of medical equipment, quantified use or use in general-thermometers, blood pressure machines, pulse and O2 odometers, stethoscopes, O2 delivery machines etc etc etc. Failure to use medications ordered for patients. Failure to provide written notes and records of patient care to families or patient representatives. Failure to interact with patient or take and record basic vital signs even upon request. Most troublesome is their insistence on intervening in family and spiritual beliefs to ensure only their philosophies are implemented, even by passing family to communicate their own brand of moral compass and spirituality. Stating concepts such as "passing over" and "transitioning" can only be achieved by patient if family IS NOT present, but only attended to by a single hospice worker-this is presented repeatedly as "fact", not personal belief etc. A failure to respect and understand that they are not "family" and their repeated inserting themselves into family moments or take these moments over entirely is not acceptable for hired personnel providing medical care consistent with care and comfort as defined by patients and families. Failure to support patient eating and fluid consumption even when requested and in fact discouraging addressing hunger and thirst as comfort and care issues. No electronic charting or ability to allow families real time access to charting, electronic or otherwise. Bottom line, if you don't want to be involved in any way with a terminally ill patients care and comfort or dont wish to define these issues with respect to your own beliefs, religious or otherwise then this hospice would be perfect for you. If you simply want to walk away and allow this hospice to make ALL decisions with respect to the terminally ill patient then give them a call. If you simply wish to cease treatment for a terminal condition but continue care for other conditions, feed and hydrate, provide the minimal pain, sedation etc medication to keep your loved one comfortable then these are NOT the people you should hire. Yet once Michele White the caseworker took over, she dropped the ball. Although she was the one that shared a listing of providers for cremation, she failed to enter that information under my step-fathers case. Once he passed, the nurse Jariah called a company that is contracted by Harris County to come pick him up as if his family did not already complete our due diligence and make the final arrangements. My step-father was picked up from his assisted living facility and taken away like he was trash and an inconvenience. I had to call around looking for him in the time when we should be able to grieve our loss. Instead, I was forced to contact another company that I didn't even know existed and complete some documents to have him released to the provider we originally selected. No apology was offered. No sorry for your loss. Only call I received was for the family to be blamed for everything. Their staff acted as if our family was not proactive and caring enough to make the final arrangements in a timely manner. I highly recommend to find another hospice provider. These people a cut throat salesmen looking for the newest victims to target. They tell you everything they think you need to hear and once you sign the paperwork, they forget you exist. These people do NOT care about the patient but the billing. e were failed and yet we were the problem. Sadly no one cared nor were they concerned. Run and do not look back.

Houston Hospice - Diamond Team, lasted a week before I had to fire them and find another hospice…read morethat could provide end of life care for my mother. To begin, their intake nurses are rough, belligerent and detached. The lady we got could care less about my mother, she just wanted to do the minimum and get out. Not a single commitment was upheld, not one. We called for support and help four times in the first week and the average time to hear back from someone was two hours, then another two hours for a nurse to arrive. So if you have an emergency, just call the ambulance and have the hospital take care of it, it's faster, and your loved one will suffer less. Now, as a result of me firing them, they became hostile, threatened to make me pay for equipment they left behind and failed to retrieve. They never took into consideration that my mom had died and their employees, having missed the appointment to pick up the equipment, lied and said a dead woman was preventing them from getting it. We choose to go with another company who was hands down better suited for caring for end of life patients. Houston Hospice is a money game, you are a dollar sign, if you are cool with that, then use them.

Complete bait-and-switch. The admissions representative sold us on services and timing that simply…read moredid not happen. When my mother was discharged home, we were told her equipment would be delivered the day before discharge. That did not happen. We were also told a hospice nurse would be at the house waiting to assess her when she arrived home. That also did not happen. I had to call multiple times just to find out where the equipment was and when a nurse would arrive. We then learned she had not even been fully admitted yet. It took several days to sort everything out during a very stressful time. One nurse who came out did not appear to know how to use the oxygen equipment. A week into hospice care, we still had not seen a nurse aide and again had to call to ask what was going on. The organization has felt extremely disorganized from the start. Communication between admissions and the clinical team does not appear coordinated, and the promises made to our family were not followed through. Most concerning, the nurse assigned to care for my dying parent has spent significant time on her phone during visits rather than focused on patient care. This has been incredibly disappointing during one of the hardest times for our family. Families considering hospice should ask detailed questions and verify exactly what services will actually be provided and when.
