I was in town for the Liverpool Rock n' Roll Marathon. It was a last minute decision and I was fortunate to find such an affordable room near the start and finish lines of the race. Pros: 1. Excellent friendly front desk 2. Comfortable bed 3. They sell power adapters in their vending machine 4. Plenty of parking 5. Convenient location, located near Albert Dock 6. Affordable rates Cons: 1. Teeny tiny bathroom. If you tried to turn in the shower, your elbow will for sure hit the wall. 2. If you're sitting on the can, you probably can't shut the door as there's no room for both of your legs and feet! The pros definitely outweighed the cons, so I wouldn't mind staying here again in the future if I'm looking for something cheap, convenient, and nothing too fancy.

Even those who have splashed out on the better seats at the Echo for a concert, and are looking for a cheaper over night option this really is perfect. Had to stay in a room that hovered around a cosy 30-31 degrees Celsius day and night. The thermostat reading is from 3:30 am. The windows only open a sliver ( i suspect because they don't want anyone jumping when the guests' brains finally liquefy from being stuck in a brick oven and they seek to actually escape the hell in which they now find themselves). On the bright side, the staff are very kind and apologetic -- they should be commended for fielding what I'm sure are a ceaseless barrage of complaints only ending once the guests succumb to heat stroke. So, in summary, stay here if you wish to fulfill a fantasy of knowing what a slow broiled potato must feel like.

On arrival reception had us booked in, and in the room within a few minutes with such a friendly attitude. The room was a wonderful size with a sofa bed, dressing table, plenty of hanging space. Extra bedding if needed. Very comfortable huge bed. TV on the wall. Tea/coffee making facilities. Nice, clean bathroom with some toiletries. Powerful shower, which I love. This hotel doesn't have a 'restaurant' as there is a pub on site but the quaint breakfast room cannot be beaten. Friendly staff who will cook anything special that you may need. Why would you though, everything is there freshly cooked. We stayed two nights, Friday and Saturday We experienced the friendliest of service from start to finish. Really cozy and warmly decorated common rooms for reading, happy hour, socializing, etc. Great breakfast! Even better room service. We enjoyed their room service food so much that we had them pack us a 'to go' for the train back to London. The rooms are on the smaller side, but very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Simple and very clean. The town of Didsbury is only a short walk away and has everything you need for a lovely spring weekend. We will def. be back the next time we head to the Theatre of Dreams. :)

We have booked to return again soon, hopefully on a Tuesday as this, according to the literature I read in our excellent sized room, is a very special day at the Dalmeny as this is when they have the weeky fire alarm test which I would love to experience, especially as the children's entertainment is only on a weekend during term time. I dream not only of hearing the dulcit tones of the fire alarm test...ringing out like the glorious Westminster Abbey bells, but of being there during a test evacation, assembling at the fire point (which is at the front car park), meeting the fire wardens, chatting for ages about hazards and risks...I love Health & Safety, it could be the reason I've only been married 4 times but that's another story. My wife, unfortunately, doesn't share my passion and enthusiasm for Health & Safety but she, like me, enjoys the hospitality and experience the Dalmeny offers, so we do have something in common.
