A fish tank. A TV is on the ceiling of the clinic I was in. But what I mainly noticed was what was done during my scale and clean. It's one of the best ones I've had and i was thankful for the fluoride foam on the tooth tray which was at the end. My old dentist uses a blue gel which is fairly gummy and it's kinda gross seeing as you're not to rinse it out for half an hour. They smear it on with a cotton wad and it gets all over my lips and tongue. X-rays are instant. They show up on a computer monitor also mounted up high so that you, the patient, can it straight away. They also took some photos using a tube camera of the tops of my teeth which were also displayed instantly. I got a care pack on leaving, containing a toothbrush, two mini toothpaste, a stick flosser and magnet. Should you be too early there is also a cafe just two shops away.

When my dentist of 20 years retired I decided to try St Lucia Dental which has been a very amazing and rewarding experience. Dr Angus Quinn has just completed a Bridge and when I saw the result I was nearly in tears as the colour match was perfect, the teeth looked more real than my original teeth, the fit was perfect and suddenly I am now really happy to smile. The surgery has the latest state-of-the-art equipment, bright surgeries with views of trees, the charges are competitive, and I must not forget to mention the very friendly and obliging reception staff. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this Dental practice.

The facilities are new, well cared for and hygienic. Parking is easy. The reception staff are always friendly and helpful. The dental assistants have always been attentive and gentle. I continue to go there. There is one little bug bear and that's witnessing the owner having hissy fits at his staff over minor issues like appointment stuff ups. I was there recently to see it first hand as I was walking past and it made me very uncomfortable. The staff elevated the volume of the music but it wasn't enough to drown out his loud angry tirade. I just thought it was quite unprofessional and I felt really badly for the dental assistants being roused on. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, that's all. In this day and age, this type of behaviour would get you a visit to Human Resources for bullying.

The staff were lovely and the dentist was both efficient and considerate. I have an extreme dentist phobia (serious) and I found this practice to be professional and sympathetic to my situation. It took many many tries to get me completely numb, but the dentist continued asking questions and poking around to make sure I definitely couldn't feel anything before removing the teeth. Would highly recommend to anybody in need of a good dentist. As soon as I get my tax return I will be making more appointments for sure.

Peter Haines at MJ Mylne Dental has been my dentist for the last six or seven years, and I'm very…read morehappy to keep my records there. Peter's a gentle older guy, very good at explaining what he's going to do prior to diving in without warning. When I told him that I get anxious about needles, he actually listened, giving me plenty of warning (and numbing gel) and talking me through everything. I assume this is his standard way of operating, as this is one of the reasons he was recommended to me by a workmate in the first place. The dental nurses and receptionists at MJ Mylne are also all lovely to deal with. There's generally very little wait time, and fillings are performed very quickly. There's another MJ Mylne clinic at Cleveland, and Peter spends his time between the two clinics, so some days he is available at Cleveland and other days at Capalaba. I'm abstaining from five stars for MJ Mylne Dental because in the last twelve months I had to take an appointment while Peter was on leave, and I wasn't a fan of the younger dentist who took my appointment. He was quite rough and spent the duration of my appointment chatting (to the point of flirting) with the dental nurse. Not Very cool - and yet if anything, made me more confident in choosing Peter as my dentist.
