The food took a very long time to arrive, but when staff seemed to be itching to clear our starter course plates away we assumed that the main courses must be ready to be brought out, however they were not. We waited another ten or fifteen minutes for these. I had the fish cakes to start, which were large but didn't taste of much. The main course of chicken stroganoff was the biggest disappointment. I opted for half rice, half chips, and the ratio of carbs to stroganoff was completely wrong. My dad's 'senior' portion of chicken curry was certainly no smaller than my (supposedly) full size portion of stroganoff; he just had less rice and fewer chips. This might not seem like a big issue to some, but when presented with a plateful of chips and rice, with a small amount of stroganoff on the side, it ruined the meal for me. The main course was otherwise tasty, and so I'm sure there are satisfying menu options available, but I won't be rushing back to the Antrobus Arms.

I was extremely impressed by the feel of the place. The restaurant side looks to be very well attended with some amazing meals on the menu. I didn't know you could get chinese-style enchiladas! Unfortunately we were too late to get food and had more important matters in mind. The beers were very good; a superb choice of hand-pulled real ales, competently served and well-kept. At £2.70 a pint, they were a bargain these days unless you happen to have an in-house brewery. Next time I have a night off, we will have a trip there to sample the ffod as well as the beer.

The music was from a jukebox and although we were only there for a relatively short time, while there I remember the music sounding pretty good. However, not to sound old but the music was a bit too loud. Don't get me wrong, although I am prefer places a bit quieter so can talk while shouting/screaming, if the music is louder thats fine. I had a wide range of them and found all to be very good for the price. Last time I went for food we went for lunch and we both got sandwiches served on flatbreads. Mine was a butternut squash, re-fried beans and mozzarella creation. It was pretty nice and came wth some very tasty wedges. The meal itself was very filling and large for a sandwich (not that I'm complaining about too much food..we just had planned to get takeaway later on and didn't realise how big they were) Overall I would say this place is good not great. I prefer it as a place to drink but that's my opinion (and preference for eating greasy burgers). I will be going here again at some point, probably next time I feel like a few cocktails.

The lack of an extra star doesn't denote anything wrong with this place, rather that I just don't like it quite as much as my 5-star Chorlton faves. We crawled along with slight hangovers at about 11am to get some breakfast. When we went to order we were immediately told that it would be a 30 minute wait due to a large party having just ordered. This didn't bother us so we ordered coffee and orange juice and settled in. The food turned up a lot sooner than expected. I had eggs baked in a clay pot with flat bread and he had a full English. Mine was excellent, great for something a little bit different than usual breakfast options. The runny yolks sealed the deal. I'd love to head back soon to try the non-breakfast options (and perhaps some more of the beer and cocktails).
