This now seems to be because the manager is paranoid about the risk of shoplifting. However they must lose a lot of sales precisely because there is no changing room. They say that you can try at home and return goods if they don't fit but you have to return within a week, which is sometimes difficult if you are working or live out of town. This is not a policy in all St Luke's shops - indeed most, if not all of their other shops let you try things on before you buy. I mentioned this to the manager of the Saltash shop and she became quite verbally aggressive towards me. A very arrogant woman whose attitude must deter a lot of people from ever returning there again, which is a pity because this charity needs and deserves all the support it can get.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is pleasant and the store is well lit, clean and tidy. It is worth having a good look around whenever your around as stock changes quite quickly and prices are reasonable. I have found several nice bits here, particularly videos and games for the children and books for myself! Access in and around the store is ok but a bit more difficult with prams or children.

The womens clothes are grouped according to sizes but its worth a look on the other rails as Ive found some great bargains as theyve been put on the wrong rack and therefore not been seen. This store can get quite busy so its sometimes difficult to get round with a pram but there is a lift at the back of the shop to get to the childrens and mens departments. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the childrens section has some lovely clothes.

They also sell homeware in this store and have some really lovely things, quite similar to what you would find in Next etc. but at much more competitive prices. There are plenty of changing rooms here so you never really have to queue for too long and the rooms are clean and spacious. I don't live in Newton Abbot but whenever i am nearby i try to pop in here as i much prefer it to the Matalan in my hometown.
