You just had to make sure that you came in during opening hours to hand in stuff, as bags left outside were always raided during the night by scroungers looking for the good stuff. This wouldn't have been so bad if they put stuff back in the bags, but they left them strewn all down the street which annoyed the hell out of me. I'm not sure what happened but this place has been closed for a few months now, so don't bother looking for it as you won't find it. I think it's now a ladies clothes shop..

However, I don't know if I caught someone in a bad mood or 5 minutes before closing, but when I went to drop off clothing to the good cause, I was greeted with a scowl, a door slam and not even a thank you. Absolutely terrible, it also made me want to take back what I had given away and give it to another charity like the Cancer Research UK up the street. I should have if had I not been in shock from the rudest encounter I have ever experienced in the least likely place, a charity shop. It doesn't matter where you work, but customer service is customer service.

Whenever I attend I am welcomed by a friendly receptionist. The building is light and airy, the rooms represent countries around the globe. I was in Zanzibar this time. The shop has various items to purchase and documents that evidence the international work of UNICEF. This is an amazing environmentally friendly build - every opportunity to recycle is utilised.

Needless to say, I briefly thought of purchasing it. This branch has a good selection with some vintage pieces thrown in. I only buy vintage. Vintage is cooler than thrift. I sometimes buy vintage from 2007 in charity shops, but it is not thrift..It is VINTAGE. Yes Dahling, Vintage 2007. This store also sells Eco seed bars and Divine Chocolate. There is very, very small selection of crap jewellery and a good selection of bags including one hot VINTAGE red one, which is probably 5 years old. I am just so up and coming.

This opens as by magic upon pulling the old-fashioned bell. I love being invited to private members clubs! This one actually feels not that dissimilar to other Soho town house clubs nearby - what makes The House of St Barnabas stand out is that it is a charity for homeless people rather than a money-spinner for property developers. The interior is quite dark and very comfortable, I would have liked more time to explore more of the rooms. Excellent setting for a daytime meeting, plus the now ubiquitous collection of lone workers and their MacBooks. The club hosts a series of interesting sounding cultural events - with a bit of luck I hope to be invited back for one of those.

Located on the main shopping street of Streatham, opposite the Library, the shop's main focus is quality clothing. The vast array of womens clothes and shoes make it direct competition for the equally bargainous Peacocks store directly opposite. A good place to purchase one off items such as evening dresses, which are displayed on mannequins in its windows. The only negative with this shop is that there is nowhere for people to leave donations out of hours, so upon opening the staff are very busy sorting donations that have been left outside overnight. Also, the adjacent Pinfold Road is a traffic warden hotspot, even the seemingly innocent bays alongside the red route. Public transport in the area is fantastic, however.
