First time we ever had a Less than stellar show. Not only do they refuse to allow any alcohol in the show, but that which they sell is so severely overpriced! Secondly, the regulation of cell phones, Albeit a good idea, seems to be at best unconstitutional. I hate to do it, but 2 out of 5 stars and usually I love outdoor venues :(. Kind of heartbroken since we drove down from Portland and I told my kids it's the best show ever where everyone is happy dancing and singing. Here's the issue; DON't buy a seat unless you are either comfortable standing and blocking everyone behind you, or only sitting the entire time... or the risk of your view being blocked the entire time by someone standing or dancing during the show in the seated area. At the California Honeydrops concerts just now, who I've seen a minimum of 10 times at other venues, absolutely everyone was in a seat until a few stood half way through and then others in the seated area felt upset they couldn't see and left...these are the most expensive tickets-the seated. There is no space for those with seats to stand and dance without blocking others except for the very back - up the hill of the venue all the way on the top of the lawn, where you cannot see and cannot hear the music. As for the area in front of the stage and sides off the stage are only for those who bought SRO tickets. Huge bummer, because this means the only way to dance and enjoy the shows is to get those SRO(standing room only) tickets, unless you want to be so high up you cannot see... and if you get the SRO tickets you can never sit. Again; you can choose to be one of the only people standing in the seated area and block everyone behind you from seeing and enjoying the show. We're in the front of the seating area and so many people who do not have tickets here have been caught by actual seat holders in their seats. The SRO is being patrolled but not the seated area. By patrolled I mean literally 5 people and a security guard on each side of the SRO. This particular show only it looks like it has about 70% of the seats/tickets present - but is "sold out". This is due to the AQI(fire smoke) and the early start (because of the fires). I was hoping with so many no shows and offering to pay for SRO on top of my seat I already paid for, I could get dancing space, but that was a no go too. The California Honeydrops in every other venue I've seen has been near every single person standing. The venue in Portland they play at removes all the seats so the floor is standing only, while the upper tier and balcony are for sitting. The Honeydrops crowd is a kind and loving one, where those who are less able bodied are always shown to the front of the stage standing spaces so they can see and everyone can dance... this is done by fellow concert goers. So much of the crowd being unhappy and leaving early could be prevented by allowing a usable dancing space where people can see and hear. I see from others reviews that in the past there was standing room in front of the stage and then the lawn. According to the Britt's website the capacity is 2,200 people for the venue, with 949 bench seats. The order is a fairly small standing room only zone in front of the stage, then row after row of bench seats then grass seating. There is some grass seating on the far right off the bench rows that is intended for those seated on the grass. After the SRO, then the bench seating, and grass seating at the very peak top is where non-standing room only viewers are to dance or stand. Update after the end of the show: We ended up staying to the end of the show, which ended far earlier than the Honeydrops had announced/suggested at the beginning "we're going to stay until our original ending time, or even longer if we can". The show ended up being done at 9:10pm, instead of the 10pm everyone was expecting from the show opening. I think it's likely because so many viewers left early throughout the show due to frustration about the seating situation. The extra star is because of the staff members who are friendly and kind. They'll tell you should sit or will block people(I had found a spot next to the rail on the grass blocking no one, but I was told a person had complained about an inconsiderate person in the same spot I was in, earlier in the evening blocking those with space on the grass, so I was reluctantly told I should move from the spot too, or move to the back top of the lawn, but in a friendly way :) 2026 #13 read more

This is my first time at this facility. I have been avoiding crowds (of course) for a while. I know this is outdoor but alas, I've been at home for two and half years. So while there are no mask requirements, I wore one the entire time. I was mostly the minority but hey, if it keep my head in the right space what do I care?!? We saw a comedy show on the grass and it was very enjoyable. This was walking distance from where we were staying which was also great. If I can take a getaway and largely leave my vehicle parked then I'm a happy camper. I cannot speak to the vendors or anything else. I didn't use those or the restrooms. The show was really about an hour and a half and about a ten minute walk, so no need. You can buy seats but I liked the idea of bringing a blanket (we forgot ours but the canvas painter's drop cloth purchased at Ace Hardware did the trick) and sitting on the grass. That way you decide how far apart you are. All in all a good time for a nervous Nellie. I really need to get a life (haha). I'd try it again. read more

Disappointing the past few years. The shows themselves are fine. Originally they allowed patrons to be able to bring their own wine or other spirits in to a show. NOW, you MUST buy from the vendors there at $12 per beer. It is gouging the patrons. I used to be able to watch a show from 'tightwad hill' when I couldn't afford the expensive tickets... Then, they built a higher wall to prevent that, I assume to force people to buy tickets. This change of policy makes me less apt to buy tickets for their shows unless it's an artist or band I really want to see. It's nothing like it used to be. read more

If you want to change your policy to require vaccine cards and or on-site Covid testifying to get into a concert that I have nearly $1000.00 worth of tickets to that is fine but if I do not want to agree to the policy change you should at least offer me a credit I will never support your business again read more

I absolutely LOVE going to Britt every year. The scenery is beautiful. The concerts are fun and always entertain. Pricing is fair. The only darw back is the parking. It is so difficult to park and then hiking up big hills to get in line is a pain. But in all honesty, if it wasn't on the hill then the view wouldn't be as amazing. read more

I've been to Britt twice this week 7/7/2024 and 7/9. The first time for The Shook Twins and California Honey Drops and 7/9 for Lettuce and Ziggy Marley. Both times in reserved seats. Both days were 104 degrees as the concert started. On the first concert, the rudeness of the volunteers set a poor tone for the rest of the show-rudely making us throw out our iced water without explaining why (OLCC rules). At this concert, I bought wine from the concession. Charging 42 dollars for Viognier from Weisinger's winery is highway robbery. This wine is in a keg and retails for no more than 32 dollars a bottle. It was warm (104 will do that) but the price is obscene. The bands were great but hideously loud, painful on my ears and my watch kept alerting me that I was in an environment that was dangerous for hearing. Two nights later and a repeat but instead of wine I bought $10 beer, again a price rip off. I did notice that half the volunteers actually were nice and the rest were grumps. A suggestion might be using half the volunteers as many seemed to have nothing to do. Again, the first act, Lettuce was TOO LOUD which took away from enjoying them. I had resigned myself to one more act that was over the top loud. But surprise: Ziggy Marley's band had their own sound tech and board-the music was perfectly balanced and not hard on the ears. Britt has gone downhill over the past 15 years, and I've been going there for 40 years. Expensive tickets, expensive alcohol, rude staff and music that is too loud makes me hesitant to recommend this venue to anyone. read more

I spent hundreds of dolors on tickets only to have the vaccination policy change after purchase. They are demanding vaccination proof and refusing me any form of refund or even a credit for future shows. Unfortunately I cannot, in good nature, entertain this notion So as a result of there complete refusal too refund me or come to any sort of terms. Great concert lineup for the summer of 2009. A smaller venue so you feel like you are close enough to the stage. We saw Les Claypool here and The YardDogs and both were excellent. If you want to be at a concert with no restrictions on your activities, this is the place to be. There were GA ticket holders crowding themselves into the reserved seating section, standing on bleachers, crowding / blocking the aisles, doing drugs of all sorts and blowing their pot smoke into the faces of the "security guards" -- little gray-haired ladies the festival organizers had probably borrowed from the classical series. No searching of bags or anything else at the door, just waltz right in with whatever contraband you can come up with. It's a free-for-all! read more

This review has to do with the enforcement of the chair height (nothing with over 4-inch legs allowed). Well, apparently this rule wasn't being enforced last night because people brought in full height chairs AND tables. Because of this we had to stand the whole concert. Five years ago this would have been a five star review hands down. To bad times they are a changin. This use to such a magical place unlike any venue. Good spots to those who wait for them. Bring your own food and drink etc... Now it is turning into a elite old people thing. They are working to take away the bring your own food/drink rule. They have made it so waiting in line no longer helps. It is now ALL about the money and nothing else. The music line up is sh*t this year and they seem to only want the older crowd. This was a gem in our small area that doesn't have much going on and now they are making it so the locals can't enjoy any more. Who cares if people sit at the fence when the shows are SOLD OUT!? There was a time in the not too distant past when I would have given this venue a 5 star rating and would have argued that it was perhaps the best music venue in the entire western U.S......However, a number of things have changed in the last couple of years that are not for the better and they have detracted from the overall ambiance and quality of this once stellar outdoor music venue. Among the more annoying changes that the Britt organization has made in recent years a change in the policy that used to allow patrons to bring their own beer and wine to the show. For those of you who are not familiar with the traditions of the Britt it has long been known for it's picturesque hillside setting at which concert-goers were allowed to bring their own picnic baskets including beer and wine. It was unique in this respect as the only public venue in the state of Oregon that allowed outside alcohol to brought into the venue. After almost fifty years of operation under this longstanding policy the Britt organization decided a number of years ago to restrict the ability of patrons to bring their own beer and wine to various shows. The decision as to which shows will be restricted appears to be somewhat random in spite of the fact that if you discuss the matter with Britt officials they will tell you that the policy change was required because of a number of incidents in recent years which resulted in unruly behavior, ostensibly fueled by excess alcohol consumption on the part of the unruly patrons. No argument has ever been presented that addresses the question of what prevents these potentially unruly patrons from consuming excessive amounts of alcohol that just so happens to be available for purchase from onsite vendor; suggesting that the real reason for the policy change is to generate revenue from increased sale of alcoholic beverages during the concerts. The problem with this situation is two-fold: One is of course that beer and wine purchased onsite is considerably more expensive than comparable beverages that patrons could otherwise bring with them to the show. The fact that most of the wines sold onsite are positively awful and grossly overpriced is arguably a matter of opinion so I won't go there, but trust me, you can purchase better wine at most grocery stores for $5 or $6 a bottle! The $6 cost of a plastic cup of beer is similarly annoying! The second and perhaps more important issue is that the sale of alcohol during the performances is disruptive. This practice represents a departure from the past policy of closing the concession booths during the actual performance for the specific purpose of minimizing the disruption caused by people constantly wondering back and forth between the seating area and the concession booths. Of course if they were to close the concession booths during the performances, like they have at every single show I have ever attended at the Britt where patrons WERE allowed to bring in their own alcohol, it would clearly impact sales and since the move is an obvious revenue enhancement strategy, the policy regarding the closure of the concession booths during the performances was quickly changed! A second change that has occurred in recent years is the introduction of the "early entry" gate which is supposed to afford patrons who make a minimum annual contribution of $250 to the Britt Foundation the opportunity to gain access to the festival grounds 15 minutes prior to the general public. Initially this was a great benefit for anyone who had the means to donate $250 or more to the Britt Foundation each year and one that I immediately took advantage of. The problem is that this "early entry" privilege is compromised by the practice of allowing special "guests" to enter the the grounds BEFORE those of us who have paid for early entry privileges. These patrons are then able to secure the best available lawn seating before the early entry ticket holders. Festival organizers have also taken to placing "reserved" lawn blankets in all of the best locations of the lawn seating area; locations that would otherwise be available to those of us who have made the requisite $250-plus annual donation that grants us the privilege of purchasing early entry passes. Reserved lawn blankets, for those not familiar with the Britt, are spaces on the lawn behind the reserve seating that are "reserved" through the practice of staking out a 6'x8' tarp on the lawn and then selling these prime spaces to patrons for a cost that typically equals or exceeds the cost of the reserved bench seating that is located at the front of the venue. All in all the Britt Festival organizers have turned what was once the premier live music venue in the state into a personal playground for themselves, their friends and benefactors while selling the rest of us a bill of goods. read more

Understand that, when the 2021 season tickets went on sale, the situation with COVID in Oregon seemed greatly improved. It seemed safe to plan outings outdoors. As you know, the entire situation went sideways in ways nobody could predict. The unyielding policies in regards to ticket purchases is unfair. I am not objecting to the requiring of masks. I am not objecting to the checking of vaccination status. These should have been required from the beginning. It is not fair to change policies once the season started. As for me, I missed the concert because of the smoke and the refusal of people to wear masks properly. The valley was under a smoke advisory, but Britt chose to forge ahead no matter what. I'm out $100 and, oh well, too bad. I will never try to attend a Britt concert again. Between the year I had endure cigarette and marijuana smoke, and another where I couldn't even see the performer on the monitor set-up for those of us who couldn't get a good seat, I'm done. read more

This is a unique venue, just because it's set outside upon a hill. When the evening sets and the stars come out, the lights from the stage reflect of the trees and provides a really cool vibe. You can bring in chairs, beer/wine and food, so it's like a huge picnic with awesome music. I saw Trombone Shorty, he killed it. The staff was ultra friendly, and mostly volunteers. The only downside is all the silly hippies dancing around being careless, but, hey, that comes with the territory. Find a show you'd like to see and check this place out. In the upcoming weeks Matisyahu will be there, fallowed by Bill Maher, so it's not like only small gigs come through. read more

Saw the Steve MIller Band at the Britt Festivals in Jacksonville, Oregon last weekend and it was in incredible show. This was the second time we've seen this band in the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon in recent years, and they still are great entertainment. With a sell out crowd, we heard many of their old hits; like "Space Cowboy," Fly Like An Eagle," "Rock'n Me," and many others. I know many will wonder who this band is, like my stepson's fiancee, who is 26, but for those of us who are not that young, they brought back great memories of my years in San Francisco in the '60's. The Britt Festivals is one of my favorite venues; located on a hillside in Jacksonville, an old historic gold mining town, you can bring your own picnic and favorite beverages. Yes, that includes beer and wine! Seating includes reserved benches (our choice that night), lawns and picnic tables. Great fun! read more

Went last night for a concert with Devil Makes Three and Trampled by Turtles. DM3 went on without fail, quite enjoyable and full of energy. Intermission. Then TBT came on. It was 9pm, and lights finally dim completely for this act. Smh. People became unruly. People started just rushing to the front, going under or over the bar that separates premium lawn from front row or general lawn. It became a free for all. Beer spillage on my feet several times, people stepping on my feet and I'm in my paid seating, where once I could see the music, during the second half I could not. There was CLEARLY no smoking in effect because of these fires to the north and south of us, but did that stop these stupid folk? No. I was disappointed in human beings last night. Give them a choice to make, they'll make the wrong one when they *think* no one sees. Boo. We left before the show ended because guess what, people ruin things for others. The couple sitting to the left of us, they left before we did because people were just being inconsiderate! I am disappointed in Britt Pavilions lack of security. Yes, there are people in white shirts, but they didn't see half the crap I saw going on, and when they did, didn't do anything half the time. My partner and I travelled 8 hours round trip for this event, only to feel... How can I say it other than disappointed? Meh. read more

We attended last nights show with Nicholas and Megan. We were extremely disappointed. If they were playing in a local bar we would've walked out the first set but here they are at Britt, high price tickets, selling their celebrity. We weren't offended by their humor, but we were disappointed in their lack of humor and material. It seemed like they were shooting from the hip and had very little material to draw on. We hope they will not return to Britt unless they drastically improve their material and performance. read more

Britt is a very laid back and intimate outdoor amphitheater. Except for specifically designated shows, patrons can bring in their own wine and beer (no hard stuff). The sound is really really good. The only problem I have with the place (and it is a significant issue) is actually seeing the stage. If you are in the General Admission area and are attending a show at which most of the people will tend to stand (i.e. a popular rock act), seeing the stage will be a challenge. The problem is that the first 50 feet of space from the stage is reserved seating with seats that rise with each row. By the time this seating ends and the GA section begins, you're well above the level of the stage. I'm 6FT tall and sitting just 30 feet or so back in the GA section, I couldn't come close to seeing the stage. You can try moving around to catch some views but that's a hit or miss proposition. Next time I'll be getting reserved seats to have a perfect time. I'll never attend another show in the GA section. read more

Love this small venue for smaller cities/towns. Parking is not too bad to get, just get there early enough. You can't park in the residential area so you have to walk to public parking which is nice cause you don't have to pay. Everything is in walking distance. Last year I went to two concerts: Ziggy Markey and Martina McBride. And experienced the two locations if seating. For the Ziggy concert, it was my first concert at this location and didn't really know what to expect. I ordered designated seats cause they were closer to the artist for $46 a piece. I would say Ziggy was 300-400 yards away. We were able to see him clearly and not on a screen like bigger venues. Since the seats didn't fill up, we were able to move closer to our friends. The front lawn and back lawn were really full. So for the Martina McBride concert we had back lawn seats. We arrived fairly early but the lawn was pretty much full. Where we ended up sitting wasn't the greatest cause the tower that the sound system and light people were at blocked the view. So I would definitely recommend the section seating. They have a bunch of food booths and beer/wine booths. They're a bit pricey but I understand. They have to make money to keep this place going. read more

Britt is the best venue for summer concerts anywhere in Southern Oregon (in winter, it's a bitty nippy!) The layout is like a lot of other "boutique" outdoor music venues: stage with a big bandshell, then a small lawn area, then several rows of bench seats (bring a cushion!), and a huge lawn area. There's a good slope from the first lawn area up through the seats and through the lawn, so everyone has a good view, at least until everyone in front starts dancing. Sound is really well amplified, so be prepared to be pretty much blown away by the sound in the front lawn, and still be able to hear well in the back. This year (2011), the front is broken up into 4-person and 2-person "premium" lawn areas, with extra fees to reserve them, so they don't go to the first in line any more. Rumor has it that if there are open spots close to showtime, they will open it up to anyone. Bands are a usual eclectic mix, from ABBA and Beatles tribute bands, to the Avett Brothers and Decemberists, and the classical festival in August. Seat heights (see other reviews) were definitely being enforced this year, at least in the front lawn area. No idea about drugs, maybe we aren't going to the right concerts. We did notice a couple of Jacksonville PD cars along the street on the way out. It's a great place to listen to some really good music under the stars. read more

This is a lovely venue on a grassy slope that deserves to be accompanied with lovely music and a picnic lunch. A couple of weeks worth of concerts are such as this but sadly too many concerts that show at the Britt should be at the Expo instead. The type of music that I am referring to is extremely loud and often the words are filthy. The band and the audience does not appreciate the fact that they are in an entire town's backyard. Let's keep the Britt an enjoyable experience for it's audience and it's residents. read more

Just went to the franti concert with my kids for their first concert. They had looked forward to going up on stage the whole evening. One of my boys is beyond shy and he was surprisingly excited. So when the time came franti called all kids up and we rushed down front only to be told the very front grass section is only allowed. Well one of the boys was so close to the stage he didn't understand why, and he walked up there just to be pulled off by two of the volunteers. It was so gross, and I'm so so sad. We left with 2 kids crying and confused. I'm so so let down and bummed out. The Britt has changed so much over the last 5 years. read more

Most annoying venue and crowd ever and I I have seen lots of shows in lots of places. I understand every show doesn't have to be a mosh pit - but geez. There is so much uptightness with the sitting/ standing thing it's ridiculous. The energy is so low there , no wonder the shows are average at best. I have come here twice for Tedeschi Trucks and we decided after this time - we won't go back. The whole front lawn blanket thing is really weird, too, people just sitting on these blankets. Lame lame lame. I guess if I were going to see a symphony I get it - sit on your blanket & drink wine. But for Rich Robinson you gotta stand and groove at times. C'mon. Chair boogie just doesn't cut it, no matter how hard you do it. The upsides of this venue, like the ability to bring in your own beer and wine and the pretty scene are ruined by how god-awful lame it is. The bathroom situation is also dismal. Big long unisex lines into two bathrooms that take forever. read more

What a great place for a summer concert under the stars. We saw K.D. Lang recently. The show was quite good, albeit the opening act was definitely not my fave.....a guy who played all his own songs. They were ok, but it was hard to get into the music having never heard of any of them. KD was a hoot. You could tell she was really enjoying herself and she brought the audience along for the ride. Nice to have a venue where you can buy local winery's offerings, hand crafted beers, and sit on a reserved seat or a blanket under the stars. Parking is a bit challenging, so arrive early. You can always have a brew or a glass of wine and marvel at the surrounding scenery. The Britt caters to all types of music, so there is something for everyone in their varied summer and fall schedule. A must do when in the area. And generally not overly pricey, as concert venues go. No $100 plus tickets here, thank goodness. read more

Lame! Saw Jason Isbell here, so excited to see him perform, paid good money for decent seats and drove 3 hours to experience his show only to find a strangled, oppressive vibe. No one danced, few people seemed excited to be there and when a few people seemed to be getting into the groove of the show they were shut down by staff and other patrons. I didn't understand as Jason Isbell was amazing! I found out after the show that sitting (rather than dancing) is enforced at Britt for most shows.... seriously?! WTF?! I will never see another show here and will actively discourage others from buying tickets to music events hosted here. read more

The Britt is an OK place but we were there over the weekend. My wife had knee replacement surgery earlier in the summer and had a handicap parking permit. We drove up the hill fully expecting to be able to park in the handicap parking. We were met by a rude woman volunteer that told us we needed to get a permit from the Britt to park in the handicap parking. News to us. So we asked how do we do that? She said "you can't, there are all reserved." We asked where we could park then. She shrugged her shoulders and said "somewhere down the hill." I asked how my wife was supposed to get to the car after the show and she said there would be a bus that came by. I was able to drop my wife off and some friendly volunteers helped her to her seat while I parked the car. At the end of the show there was no bus so as I walked down the hill to retrieve the car my wife waited on the curb. As soon as I got out of sight the "bus" came by and drove right by my wife leaving her standing alone and in the dark in front of the venue. She called me and said she would just walk down to the car but it was painful for her. If you go to the Britt and you need handicap parking be aware you need to make arrangements before. And also be aware that not all the "volunteers" are there to make your experience a good one. Some are just on a power trip. The Wood Brothers were awesome tho!! read more

I called the box office to get tickets for myself, my Husband, and Daughter. I explained that my Daughter is in a wheelchair and that we would need handicapped seating. I asked if the three of us could sit together and I was told yes. I purchased the tickets but when I got off the phone I realized that I had only paid for two tickets. I had told them three times that I needed three tickets. When I phoned back I was told that those were the last two tickets for the handicapped seating and there was nothing they could do about it. Very poor service! If I would have driven the hour up there and found out then that I didn't have three tickets I would have been really mad!! read more
