When we went there, we were told that it would be cheaper paying out of pocket with a discounted plan rather than going through our insurance. My loved one felt strongly about going to this specific practice, so I said ok. Towards the end of the program, someone accidentally billed my insurance and the appointment was covered, we only had a co-pay. I went to them and showed them, but to my surprise, they wouldn't take care of us. They said we opted to go outside the insurance. I only opted for that because you said we weren't covered and it would be cheaper!Now, I'm not an angry guy, I'm a hard-wired optimist, but I came away thinking that we were intentionally misled. Trust me, for my own sake, I tried to rationalize how this could've been an honest mistake, but, if that were the case, why wouldn't the practice own up to it and make it right? All in, it cost me about $3,000 that I shouldn't have had to pay at a time when money was tight with 2 young kids on a single income. Pyramid scheme-style nonsense. I had probably a cumulative four hours of my life wasted on lectures on why I should be a recurrent patient - before I could be adjusted. People have spent less time being recruited for a time share. And their philosophy is nonsense, that getting adjusted can prevent cancer (which is often genetic). I paid nearly $200 and still didn't get adjusted. When I confessed that their practice probably wasn't right for me, they handed me my paperwork and said goodbye. And I still didn't get adjusted. They never touched my back, but took my time and money and more than a little of my patience. I left with MORE back pain because I was so angry. If you are interested in finding DOCTORS that are willing to help you, I recommend looking elsewhere, because all you'll find here are snake oil peddlers. I specifically brought my children to this practice because of their holistic view of health. I love Dr. Phil's commitment to excellence. I am someone who strives for best practice but frequently falls short and needs refocusing. I love the education classes that help me to regularly reflect on what steps, big or small, I can be making to own my own health. And love that they are so intentional with the time they spend with us to pass on the knowledge they have. It's not for everyone, because it does require more commitment and time, but they make it clear from the get go, what their mindset and model is and if people aren't willing to commit to it they are free to seek care elsewhere. So let me start by saying I like chiropractors, acupuncturists, and other similarly veined services. My wife and I have been to various offices over the years and always been rather happy. This review largely covers the practice in terms of customer service and the "sales tactics" discussed in other negative reviews. I get it; you are a business and need to make money too, but the fact that it was done in the way that it was in a healthcare environment is just unprofessional and frankly off-putting. The people there were certainly nice enough though realistically it all seemed like a very carefully planned series of events. The words "time share pitch" come to mind after I went through everything and I think you will see why. So I went in the first time for what I believed was back pain and was first made to watch a informational video for about 10-15 minutes. Then I was asked if I wanted X-Rays after a brief physical review. I said yes to the X-Rays thinking it seemed like a good idea but in reality, as you will see from this reference site below, it is not a often needed thing for a chiropractor nor is it really useful for finding these subluxations. The link below by the way is a website that is maintained by doctors in order to prevent poor practices in the medical and therapeutic fields. http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/chiro.html Now don't get me wrong, subluxations are viable issues, but I have not seen X-Rays offered as a first point of research at a chiropractor's before. Orthopedic, yes but they have proper facilities and are better trained for that type of diagnostics. So that aside, I then went to the front desk where I went to schedule my follow-up appointment...but before that, I was asked if I know anyone else that may need chiropractic care. I said not immediately, to which they looked at the questionnaire I filled out earlier and they saw my kids. Why they needed to know who my family members were earlier did not send off warning signs, but then I put two and two together when they told me my family will get a discounted session if I bring them. Very clever way to pitch additional services by asking for family member info, so i give them credit for that. After I turned down the option again, they proceeded to take my appointment...but with a catch. I had to have my wife come in too. For an hour. With other people. So when I asked for more information on what this is for I was explained it is headed by the doctors once a week (so I can't even select the date) to further review the benefits of chiropractic care and explain how treatment is done. Time share pitch anyone? Now when I say had to do this, I mean I asked for an alternative and they said their way was the only option. That was difficult to do because I work and my wife will usually be at home with the kids. I told them this and that it would be difficult, to which they suggested I get a babysitter. Now tell me, what kind of office goes out of the way to suggest that the only way they can discuss treatment options with me is if I have my wife present, with a group of other people, and that we should take on the burden of a sitter just for an update? I mean, on top of whatever fees I am paying the office, I now must go out of my way to appease their wishes (and not me the client/patient) to get this sitter and for what? It's not as if I am getting surgery and will be incapacitated. So, all that aside now I asked to speak with the doctor (very tall fellow). I pressed more, stating very clearly that my wife and I have been to chiropractor and other alternative cares before without any of these things being required. I asked that we could be exempt from it given the circumstances and the doctor just said he didn't think it was a good idea. Ok, I thought. let me give him a chance. I simply asked why? I stated if I could be offered and explanation I would gladly make the efforts to inconvenience myself now that I understand their necessity. After some more pushing on this matter, the doctor only offered that it is what they always do and that in the past he has had bad experiences without going through this process. That was it. No reason as to what those experiences might be (other than leaving the practice which I understand very well). Just simply because I tell you to. It was at that point I stated in an ultimatum (can't say I didn't try) that if I cannot get some concession or reasoning I would have to seek service elsewhere. The doctor responded that he can prepare any paperwork and X-Rays done so far for transfer to another office. Wow, I thought. So rather than trying to work with me he dedicated himself to the process of his sales pitch so much so that they would rather lose my business. So I left and never went back. In the end, this review is not a review of the offices capabilities which may in fact be rather good. But at the same time who would want to when the sale for your health comes first? read more
