Even though Quotidiano is in the mall, the entrance from inside the mall is closed, so you have to enter through the street entrance. Now, to characterize Quotidiano would be to say it's part bakery, part Italian and all deliciousness! The pasta was freshly made and serve a perfect al dente. We tried the Puttanesca Tagliatelle and fried ravioli- all of which was great! I was also having a bit of a sweet tooth moment and ordered a banana shake, which was the BEST BANANA SHAKE of my entire life! The atmosphere is great, it was busy and the smalls in the air were intoxicating- you know you're in for a treat when the air in the restaurant is fragrant and in a way is a glimpse into the meal itself. The service was a little inattentive at times, but given that there was a massive rainstorm going on, and the power flickered on and off a few times; I'd assume there was other stuff going on behind the scenes. No biggie. We needed to ride out the storm anyway, so no worries about that. It was also fun to look at other diners plates and appreciate all the beautiful and tasty dishes they were eating. It was more soft and doughy than I expected. Most quiche crust is a short crust pastry and tends to be crumbly, and this crust was decidedly not that. It felt like I was eating bread. I didn't mind, personally. It was very filling and I ended up taking half of it home. The lettuce it came with was fresh. They provide you fresh olive oil and salt. Like most dishes I've had in Argentina, I find that I need to add salt or black pepper to enhance the existing flavors. Unfortunately, there was no black pepper provided at this restaurant. The pasta was supposed to be a ziti with a mushroom sauce but as you can tell from the pictures - this was not ziti. It was cooked well, and I liked that they grated the Parmesan for you, but it was an average tasting pasta dish. Ambiance was nice and casual. Service was friendly.

The decor of the restaurant is very elegant with lots of wood. We dined on the second level and were treated to an excellent view of the diners below. Being as there weren't many non-alcoholic drink options I had water. This is one area of opportunity. I would've loved to have something like a fruity cocktail to complement my dish. As an appetizer, we had the Corn Polenta with Prawns. It was an interesting dish with tender prawns and a seafood broth poured over the polenta. Very good. For my entree, I had a very rich pasta dish called Tagliatelle with Creamy Spinach and Ham. This was a delicious dish- let me tell you, the standout was the ham which was very mild and not heavily salted. That dish was a 5/5! For dessert I chose the Panna Cotta, it was a little too sweet for my liking. We also passed on the complementary Limoncello at the end. Overall, I really enjoyed our visit to Sottovoce, the main dish was spectacular, but the other elements bookending the main were a little less than spectacular. On my first visit I tried a traditional Argentinan stew called Locro. Baked in a clay oven and served piping hot, Locro featured white corn, beans, squash, and meat. I was enjoying it well enough until the sweet potato dish arrived at which point all bets were off; that dish got all of my attention. The menu features a "wood-fired potato and sweet potato" category and it was from that small offering that I'd opted for the sweet potato topped with creamed corn, honey, and walnuts. During my first visit - and even on the return visit - I'd have sworn this dish was covered in melted cheese. It was not. But the combination of flavors and textures was so immensely satisfying that I couldn't wait for a do-over. During my second visit I again ordered the amazing sweet potato (and a Northern-Style Tamale, a bottle of wine, and flan). Everything was, again, quite delicious but that sweet potato? It was fabulous and one of my top flavor sensations in a month of travel. Cumaná serves immensely satisfying food that differs from what you find elsewhere. You can go with pizzas and pastas but why, when the menu is filled with gems rarely found elsewhere. And as for that sweet potato? I never saw anything like it on any other menu. My father was so happy we brought him there so now he has a new place to eat and bring friends to try the food. My only complaint may be the bread they served the table.
