    Kurbis Suppe mit Schwarze Walnüssen

We were invited to this incredible restaurant by a friend who promised it to be a memorable meal, and it surely was. This wonderful restaurant is right up there with my all time favorite place in Munich, Schweiger2 Showroom, for this category of restaurant. Broeding might even actually bump Schweiger out of its #1 spot in my palette now (at Broeding it's not necessary to let them know that you don't like pig's feet or blood sausage at the risk of them serving it). The food is top-notch, especially when accompanied by some of the delicious, Austrian wines they specialize in. Very professional and friendly service in a comfortable, cozy atmosphere. Courses like pumpkin soup with black walnuts (mmmmmm, kurbis soup season!), fish, and Reh (deer) served with green beans & mushrooms with a pretzel knödel maybe sound pretty common, but they are nothing less than extraordinary when they touch your tongue here. Maybe it's the wine coordinated with each course that makes the difference (wein begleitung is an additional 35-40€ depending on courses, but highly recommended- and you will learn quite a bit about each wine as it's served). At Broeding, really besser geht's nicht!

Very creative menu of six courses. First time in Munich and first dinner in town. It's beyond my expectation for local delicacies.

Nice restaurant in Munich. Very professional service and great ambiance sitting outside in the backyard. Most memorable dishes were the Arctic char and the dessert, Tahitian vanilla white chocolate ice cream. Recommended!

Probably the best meal I've ever had. The combination of food, wine and experience made this an amazing experience.

We ordered the pork knuckle, pretzel with beer cheese, and beer. The pork knuckle arrived cold and lacked flavor, while the pretzel didn't seem particularly fresh either. The beer pour was especially disappointing--the amount of foam/head was ridiculous, and for a place associated with such a famous brewery, I expected a much better pour. The photos really speak for themselves. Service was the biggest issue. We repeatedly tried to get someone's attention to place our order, but the servers seemed to avoid eye contact and kept waiting for someone else to help us. Even getting the check was a struggle--we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers. The atmosphere itself has the traditional Bavarian beer hall feel, but unfortunately, the poor food, disappointing beer pour, and especially the terrible service completely overshadowed it. I really wanted to like this place, but based on our experience, there are much better beer halls and beer gardens in Munich.

We ordered the bratwurst with fries, along with Helles and Weissbier. The bratwurst was fantastic--juicy, flavorful, and the perfect pairing with a cold Bavarian beer. The beer garden is self-service, which works incredibly well given the huge crowds they serve. Even on a weeknight, it was packed, but the service moved quickly and efficiently. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd hope for from a Munich biergarten--lively, relaxed, and filled with locals. Its location away from the main tourist areas gives it a more authentic feel. A great spot for Bavarian food, beer, and a lively local beer garden experience.

We were lucky to meet Luba who guided us to two open seats and then took our orders. The Wiener Schnitzel was so delicious. The best that we had in Munich. Breaded veal schnitzel with sautéed potatoes and marinated cranberries. The cranberries kicked the flavor up a notch. So tasty. The Kasespatzel was a cheesy Swabian style noodle dish topped with crispy fried onions. So good. So addictive. Loved the dressing on the simple side salad that came with the Kasespatzel. Wanted something cool and refreshing to drink. Went with a blackberry sparking water refresher. Luba was such a great waitress. Definitely made our favorite meal in Munich a special one to remember. Danke schon!

The restaurant was just a ten minute walk from the hotel and on the way we passed a multitude of restaurants. We walked into a very friendly and busy environment. You could tell all the people sitting around us were having a good time and eating what looked like some really good food. We went to a side room that was just a bit quieter and without missing a beat... ordered a beer. Hard to make a choice with their comprehensive menu, but keeping with our tradition of eating lighter in the evening while traveling we went with: - Tomato and Mozzarella salad - A large piece of toasted bread - Veal Schnitzel with potatoes - Apple Strudel Without going through each item in detail I will say that everything was fantastic! Tomatoes and cheese were so fresh and tasty and the schnitzel was wonderful... Not enough good things to say about the amazing strudel..... Nothing like having apple strudel in Germany. Everyone here was just so friendly and helpful to us. We had a wonderful time and I am happy to recommend them to anyone coming to Munich! KUDOs to the team at Münchner Stubn.

Funkstadl did have a small little bar with a smooth wooden bar top with no rail with 4 round wooden stools with a padded seat. There was also a box footrest. Took a spot there, but ordered from a waitress vs. a bartender. Funkstadl had great food, but what I'd call a limited beer selection. There is a beautiful patio area in the front of the building, a ton of seating inside. Mostly lower eating wooden booths if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, at the time I arrived, the place was 75% empty. I would have loved to saw it busy and loud, but this was the first stop of many. Generally I thought FunkStadl got everything right, good food, good beer, and a relaxed environment.

I think the abv on that was about 7.5%. A nice buzz on that, good brew, but didn't top the Franziskaner...nice feel to the place, had sidewalk seating too. Decent service and menus in English as well as German.
