The park is dog-friendly, as long as they are on a leash. But, they also have a pretty big dog park where they can run around unleashed. We will be here next weekend for our grandson's high school graduation party. The pavilions we will use are quite large, have lots of tables, ceiling fans, lights, a fire pit restrooms and a playground. This park can be enjoyed whether you have a group event or if you just want to chill out and soak in your surroundings.

We hiked 3 miles at the Matson Hill Park near Defiance/Augusta off 94. Within the fist 5 minutes,…read moreif you head counterclockwise, you'll come across a sinkhole on the right side of the path. There are several small stream crossings, but plenty of rock bridges to keep your feet dry. We were impressed that the trail was clear of rots/rocks/overgrowth. Makes sense that the trail was also intended for bikers. The trail was built by mountain bikes for mountain bikers, but the day we visited, there was a sign at the trailhead that said "hikers only." There was so much shade on this trail. Perfect for a hot summer day. The trail has a few loops depending on if you want to hike the smallest 1ish mile trail, the 3 mile hike on the Matson Hill Loop, or the 2 add-on trails: 3 miles Hays Trail and the 2 mile Oxen Mill Trail. The maps at the trailhead and throughout the trail indicate the historic 1830s stone homes on the property were closed to visitors. Checking out the St. Charles County website now, the Hays and Boone family homes are open to the public again after a renovation in 2020! We almost hit a deer on the side road after getting off 94. Just keep your eyes peeled and your speed appropriate on the curving roads.

We came to see the Sculpture "The Awakening" which is a massive sculpture of a giant who is struggling to get out of the ground. It's not a single sculpture but five separate sculptures that make up "The Awakening". Great park to visit - not only for the sculpture but for some peace and quiet.

It took us 1 1/2 hours to complete the trail. Looks like you can fish on the dock or by boat at the boat ramp. There is a swimming cove for the other side of the entrance. The trail is quite easy and is clean of debris. I would like to come back in the late summer/ fall to see the tree leaves!

So why am I giving this place three stars? The camping service here is a little........rather......special. The cabins were of filth, and the showers there are mucky and there is rust, splotches of?? random muck everywhere in every corner of the bathroom. Not to mention the ants everywhere plus other bugs. Not even during night time. Don't even think about testing the theory yourself, just stay away from the camping experience. Other than that, I would reccomend this park to those who want a nice afternoon maybe enjoying the cool breeze, staring at flowers and other wildlife outside or go biking. It's pretty beautiful!

I mean. You can never go wrong when you visit this place…read more You think there's nothing more to life? Come here. You can think clearly up here just looking at that view. I had visited 5/18 with a few girlfriends. It had rained a day prior so there definitely were some muddy patches. We also encountered a black snake (too scared to take a picture- I ran away), a dead baby snake, a ton of cicada shells, spider webs in the way of our path, and some bees. We went around 11am and though the high was 84, it wasn't so bad since most of the trail is in the woods. I hadn't been here in a while but it seemed shorter than I remember. If you're looking for an hour-ish long hike, swing on by.

Makes me wanna be a kid again. My favorite though, is the wildflower meadow. Perfect for birdwatching. There's also campsites near a creek that you can see from the lookout by the playground. O'Day Park opened in spring 2019 and as the city's newest park is new and up-to-date. This is a…read morewonderful community park that rivals any in the county. Park development was a partnership between O'Fallon and the MO Department of Conservation. Because of that O'Day offers more natural settings and omits athletic fields. Features: -O'Day Lodge, a rental facility for business conferences and other activities. -Amphitheater for free community concerts and plays. -Adventure playground with unique items like a ropes course, group swings, and climbing logs. -Paved and natural walking and cycling paths. -Picnic pavilions. -Splash pad. Park developers also retained or added natural settings such as meadows, prairies, and woods.
