This is a spectacular park! I wish I knew about it years ago. If you get a chance, check out the St. Charles County Parks site and find a Ranger guided bird tour. Bring some water, save a map, note the restrooms. Plenty of trails, tables, trees. Parking is good. Be prepared for a 2-lane winding road to get here. read more

Klondike Park is just gorgeous. When I was there, there were a few photo shoots going on (I'm guessing senior photos) and they all looked adorable. The setting, the sand, and the water created many photo ops. I sat and took in the beauty of the place. The only kinda bad part is that I scratched my hand on some of the silica/sand. Just exercise some caution and you will be golden! I cannot wait to return! read more

I have been coming here since before it was a county park. (Sneaking in afternoon hours). Since becoming a park my wife and I have enjoyed many sunsets from the view above the conference center. A great place for a picnic. We have brought our children here through their childhood and had many great afternoons exploring the trails around the park. With access to the Katy Trail, bring a bike and spend the day sIghtseeing the beauty of the area. read more

Katy trail cyclists take note -- this is a great campground. Right off the trail, perched above the Missouri floodplain. Lots of private sites. We were spoiled by coming on a weekday in September, out of peak season, and we had our choice of great spots. Well-maintained and good showers. I wish I could say that we explored the trails, but we had other business at hand. read more

Very nice park not too far from Saint Charles. Multiple different hiking trails and people can even rent cabins/ camp areas! You can fish in the lake and look at all the awesome wildlife. I saw turtles, many bird species, bass, and cacti! read more

Without a bridge out on the Katy Trail, we'd never have known about Klondike Park, home of a trail detour for the spring and summer of 2019. The first time through, my friend and I had gotten lost a few minutes prior so we weren't exactly feeling this place and just wanted to get through it. We did notice some beautiful scenery as we rode through that was more reminiscent of Colorado than Missouri. Either way, we plowed through it, eager to reconnect with our route. The next day we were lucky to take in more of this park and loved what it was putting out. We had a stop at the lake here, watching turtles pop up as we sat on the sand and rocks taking everything in. Their trail paths looked and felt refinished with a nice, smooth blacktop that was great for riding and surely for hiking as well. The hills surrounding the area are steep, and one is gravelly and dodgy to get up and down by bike, but it added to the sense of adventure. As often as we do the Katy Trail, this spot likely will be skipped once the trail bridge replacement is wrapped up, but we enjoyed being forced to experience it on the 2019 trip. read more

What what I DO FOR A KLONDIKE PARK? This is a unique Park overlooking the Missouri River valley in wine country with an interesting past. The land was donated by a wealthy doctor who had purchased a silica mine. There is a lake in the park with white sand beaches from the silica used to make glass. Bring a picnic lunch and grab a bottle of wine at a local winery and have your own picnic here. Great hiking, biking and scenic overlooks. read more

Only 3 stars...we stayed here last weekend, Memorial Day weekend in one of the cabins. We got here on a Friday and the cabin was very roomy and the environment, the lake and the whole area was nice actually!!! The reason for only 3 stars is that the shower room was a mess, and the stalls ran out of TP, I seen on reviews that the shower rooms were always nice, perhaps it was because of the holiday weekend? Also, the stairs to the shower room from the cabins were blocked by some other cabin renters table the whole weekend...we asked the ranger why? His response "well I talked to them and told them they could leave it there during the day only, even though technically its not allowed". I explained to him that it IS always there at night and it's so hard to see, he claimed that they promised to move it during night hours! He said the table was there to protect the other cabins children from the steps...I have children too...but I guess when you are too "busy" to watch your children the rest of the campground has to "pay for it"!!! read more

Beautiful views and in close proximity to all of the Augusta wineries=a win-win for sure! I visited Klondike Park on a sunny weekday afternoon last week and was definitely pleased. We ended up hiking about four miles on various trails and terrains, with beautiful views of the Missouri River and the forestry surrounding the Augusta area. There was a 2 mile trail that was challenging and provided a little bit of shade via tree cover which was greatly appreciated in the somewhat muggy Missouri May weather! I'd definitely recommend Klondike Park as an alternative to Castlewood Park. While the drive is a little bit longer/further west and Klondike Park itself doesn't provide as many trail options, the Lewis and Clark trail is within close proximity, providing more hiking/biking/running space for miles along the Missouri River. I hope to be back to continue exploring Klondike Park sometime soon! read more

Very nice hidden park in St. Charles County! There's camping, hiking, fishing and even kayaking! The lake has great views of the bluff and has white sand. The overlook is easily accessible to all travelers. Hiking trails are easy to moderate and good for animals and kids. Overall, a decent place to spend a Saturday! read more

My mom loves this park more than a lot of things in life. Me and my girlfriend planned a camping trip for Mother's Day weekend for her. The weather was perfect and booked it last minute. Klondike Park is located off highway 94 in Augusta, Missouri by the river. The park is very spacious that connects to the Katy trail for bikers to make a pit stop at for a quick picnic. There are various campsites that are: Cabins which run about $65, Basic campsites with electrical outlets and primitive camping. We were late to the party and had to settle with a primitive campsite. We ended up getting the short end of the stick and getting the sites that were close in proximity to other campers. It was a Saturday and it was very busy so we were neck and neck. There are primitive spots that are more secluded as well. Make sure you reserve your spot at least a couple weeks in advance and months for a busy holiday weekend. The campsite we were at was a little crowded but it was quiet at the same time. I love how there are rules such as quiet hours at 10PM. You can still hangout by the fire, but things start to dwindle down by then. The lake is beautiful with plenty of places to fish. Fishing is catch and release only. There is also a walking trail that goes up to the top of the cliff for s beautiful view of the river. The bathroom was what impressed me the most. They were so clean and maintained better than most places. A lot of parks leave the bathrooms to rot, not here. There is also a shower house and kitchen for people to use. 5 stars here. I was very impressed with the Rangers. We had two Rangers check up on us to see if everything was okay. They were polite and you felt you were being taken care of. They will make people leave right away if you camp without a reservation. It's the rules and I don't blame them for it. There are a list of rules you agree to before camping, PLEASE READ THEM. It's a great place to bring the family because there isn't any wild drinking or loud parties going on. The Rangers will not let that happen. Feel free to bring pets too! I didn't have any problems with raccoons bot any other scavengers which is a good thing. Overall this place is a great place to camp, fish or just have a quick day trip at. There's things to do for all ages including a new modern playground. Give it a try, and get out of the house! It's only 30 minutes out of Weldon Springs. read more

This place is wild. You've never seen a more strange beach of bleached white sand and very dark black rocks. A hidden gem that I didn't know about for over 25years. Went out there because there was apparently a unique trail and found an entire different world packed into a rather small space. REALLY cool and totally worth checking out. What a shame! This used to be a nice, beautiful, peaceful park. Unfortunately, since they began allowing people to use the quarry for kayaking and such, it's become a cesspool of people who don't respect the place, litter, and act foolish. Park rangers are a joke and hard to find. Campsites that use to be spread out are now right on top of each other. My family and I have been visiting this park every year, several times a year for the past 20 years. We are sad for what it's become and will no longer be back. read more

Klondike Park was highly recommended by a friend for our first family camping site. It's beautiful! Camping facilities: We stayed in the basic tent sites (b-10 to be exact). These are very close to the bathroom and shower house. Our site was still quiet and a bit secluded. (Obviously the ones closer to the parking lot and showers would have a bit more traffic going by, but most still sit back far enough of the path.). The bathrooms and showers were very clean and nice. The campsites were also very clean. The basic sites have a covered picnic table with a concrete slab under them. That and the fact they are close to the bathrooms is what distinguishes them from the primitive sites. Each site has a fire ring. The park: The lake loop is a nice walk for the family. It's also a great fishing spot. The trails in the park would be great for mountain biking. We took out bikes down to the Katy Trail for a level surface. Great place to go! Definitely would recommend. read more

The trails have no markers and I got lost so many times in the woods where some trails just lead you to a dead end, was super confusing. Not that scenic, some parts overlook the Missouri river, where the water smells like sewage and looks dirty. read more

Tons of camping locations, huge park with lots of trails! Shower house was very clean. Also the park is close to the Augusta wineries and brewery so fun overnight stop on the Katy Trail. The only thing to be aware of is the entrance from the Trial is a steep, steep hill that you will likely have to walk your bike up, especially if you are carrying any gear on the back. read more

This is a great hiking, biking, or camping spot. Lots of places to set up a tent and also cabins to rent. GORC does a great job of keeping the trails clear and they are respectful if you encounter them. There's quite a few different terrains here from bluffs to forests to a dried up herpetology area to the pondscape which is unlike any other area I've seen. This is a great county park to visit. read more

Went camping at Klondike park over Memorial Day weekend and had a blast! We stayed at a basic campsite which had a fire ring and an covered picnic table. While looking to book here I had a hard time finding information on the sites and set up so I figured I would share. You are not able to drive right up to your campsite you would will need to walk a little ways. We stayed close to the bathrooms/shower house. They were well maintained and clean. There is also a camp kitchen which has a two burner electric stove, prep table with electrical outlets as a large sink to be able to wash dishes or pans out. Our first day we biked over the Sugar Creek Winery, it was a nice ride (about 2.5 miles) but beware you'll have to go up a steep hill to get there and then another one to get back into the park. On day two we biked down to Augusta (about 3 miles) which was also nice, beware...steep hill on the way back in as well! Over all its a wonderful place to camp, bike and take in all the nature! read more

This is a clean well maintained small park with a small lake, hiking trails, and extensive mountain biking trails. It's also on the Katy trail.. We stayed in the clean and well maintained cabins, rode the Katy to Agusta for lunch, and did general camping stuff. Nice park, good times. read more

Took the dogs for a hike and exploring. Started at the Scenic View, walked the blacktop trail to the top and took in the scenic river valley. Drove through the rest of the park, not much more hiking after doing that trail. Besides both puppies were exhausted after that walk down the scenic view trail. There is a lot to this park, hiking, white sand beach, and camping. Seems a great place to camp and bike to the nearby wineries. read more

This is such a nice park. You can hike in the woods, head to the nearest winery which you have about 5 to chose from and then have a nice fire before retiring to your cabin. Many hiking trails and a nice lake to get your fill of nature. The cabins do not have running water, but they do have electric. You will need to hike a bit to the potties and to take a shower. read more

If you are a fan of mountain biking then this park is a must for it being so close to St. Louis. I like riding the Katy trail to this park and then take the paved trail up to the bluff overlook to watch the birds fly and see the Labadie Plant across the Missouri river. Take the trails back down to Katy trail. read more

This place was really great. The park had all kinds of recreational areas for BBQing, fishing, and even a couple playground. I took my mountain bike out on a couple trails there and it was pretty intense. I've seen people hiking the trails as well. It also has direct access to the Katy trail. Overall just a good outdoors location read more
