A cool nights rest on our journey through North Dakota…read more There's not a lot of staff, so no one was at the front desk to check us in. Instead, we had a phone number to call and have someone stop by the front desk to get us checked in. The room is nice. There's even a little "kitchen" area. I liked the knight accents, but felt like it needed a little more. My favorite part was the gymnasium, where you could throw some basketballs around. If you are looking for food, go down the street. They shouldn't even be serving food with the quality I received. I ordered the fish basket, and I'm not sure if it was the breading or the fish, but it tasted completely of mold and I couldn't eat it. My sister had the prime rib, which was completely raw on the inside, and a lot of it was fat. Her corn was hard and cold and just gross. I don't know why we had any hope for the dessert, but we ordered the raspberry cheesecake, and it was disgusting. First, it wasn't even cold, and second, it was hard. Do not eat here. And the service is so slow. I get it, it's a small town, but two hours for a meal is way too long. All in all, the room was nice, but save your money and eat at the other restaurant down the road.

Some of the critics are perhaps comparing it to a big hotel chains. It reminds me of people going to other countries and complaining that they don't get the same service they are used to in the U.S. I think the idea was genius and admire the ambition and perseverance of making it happen and creating such a unique hotel. I love it!

We have to agree with Roger's review under the "non recommended review" section. Owner seemed…read morerather odd, very watchful of everything which made us feel guilty of something although we certainly didn't do anything wrong. Motel is old but fairly clean. No wifi, old tube tv, stove didn't work... Owner is main complaint, very rough and critical it seemed anyway. $70.00/night is about $20.00 too much in our opinion.

Have you ever been in a situation that feels like it could be the start of a horror movie?…read more I had exactly this experience but lived to tell my story. We pulled into this hotel pretty late. I was sleeping in the front seat and my male friend went in to secure the room. The owner asked him if I was his wife and he said no. She stated "wake her up" and said I had to be present for the check in even after my friend told her I was sleeping in the car. It was 12:03 a.m. I woke up and complied with her wishes because I just wanted to shower and get settled in but I found this request of hers very odd. She was giving off weird vibes the entire time and her mannerisms were very indicative of someone that was OCD and had controlling tendencies. I also wore a mask into her little office and she seemed to almost mock me in a way that I had it on. She told us all these rules we had to follow and these massive charges we could ensue if we didn't follow.. $400 for smoking in room fee $200 if we somehow found an animal to bring into the room fee $35 for missing key fee $40 for excessive cleaning fee Pretty sure there was also a charge if we left the AC running after we left. And probably will be charged $300 for writing this review.. She then told us about this family with 12 kids in it a couple doors down and how we needed to be quiet as to not wake them?? I was like ok, but thought it was weird she even mentioned. She also kept trying to talk with us but it was late. We just wanted to get settled in. I proceeded to shower and get ready for the night. My friend continued unloading our item. She then proceed to come by not once, not twice, but three times after the fact of check in. It's now 12:30 am. Late. We just want to be left alone. First time: She came over and made sure the door latched. I had shut it but apparently it didn't click to be fully closed. She said she didn't want the bugs to come in. Mind you it's 12:30 a.m. She had just left us for the night and came back out to do this. Second time: Three minutes later she comes rapping on the now latched screen door. She had to ask us if we figured out the ac unit (Mind you we had been in room for maybe 10 minutes. And the AC unit was pretty standard with well labeled buttons that illuminate when engaged.) My friend said "Yes but I'm still unpacking". She then told us to remember to turn it off (now mind you for the second time this same reminder) when we leave tomorrow. We weren't even there for 10 minutes!! Third time: 3-4 minutes later..She asked about 3 bottles of beer my friend had left outside by the bench outside our room. (We were going to have a drink outside to decompress after the long day of travel.) She was very concerned that one of the 12 children would somehow get out of their room to come over by us, take the non twist top beer bottles-find a way to open them and consume them. Mind you this is now 12:40 at night. She finally goes away. We sit outside for a half hour to have our drinks. She now comes out again for a 4th time. Now after 1 a.m. she told us to keep it down and that she didn't want this partying happening since she's "not a partier". We were talking quietly and not being loud at all. She reminded us now for the third time about these 12 kids that she didn't want wakened. At this point I'm now wondering how 12 kids even fit in one whole room... I honestly now felt super unsettled staying here. I felt a complete lack of privacy from her. I was worried I would be awoken to her rapping on the windows finding some other meaningless information to tell us. This woman is invasive. So much so that she invaded my dreams that night. And that was frightening. We took pictures of the room before we left in the morning in case she tries to hit us with any fees. I honestly don't recommend a stay here. I will give her one plus on the very immaculately clean rooms. But it does feel like you are walking on eggshells here the entire time. Someone in another review referred to this as an adult day care. I think that is a pretty accurate statement.

I did a lot of research and most of the places around here are motels that don't look so great. I kept calling them "murder motels." This place is really decent. The rooms are decent sizes and the bathrooms are clean. There's a pool and a hot tub, which I haven't made use of but I've heard they're pretty nice. There's a tiny gym with two ellipticals, one treadmill, and a two dumbbells. It's not the best but it fits the bill for trips like these. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. There's a free breakfast every morning with hot food (sausages, eggs, toast, Belgian waffles) and cold food (yogurt, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs). They also bake cookies every night and leave them out in the lobby around 5 or 6. If you have to stay out here, I'd definitely recommend this place.
