We had a guided tour by Marc Antoine who was not only extremely knowledgable, but was a delight, patiently answering everyone's questions during the tour. The museum houses one of the first and only still fully intact and working fire engines from the early 20th century. It also explains the industrial contributions that Saint Jean Richlieu has made to both Canada and the States. For example, I had no idea that Singer Sewing Machines were made here or that during WWII, Singer made bullets for both the Canadian and American troops. There is gorgeous original pottery on display from the different time periods, including some original Autochone (Native American) pieces. The museum has several interactive areas to enhance the experience as well, visually and audibly. Downstairs, they offer pottery workshops for children and the main entrance houses beautiful local modern pottery for sale, made by local artisans. There's also a section of world renown and award-winning pottery from different artists from Quebec. It's a delightful museum and I'd come here again.

This is a museum that can be done in 1 hour but then you miss the entire point of it. The proper way is to give it a at least 2 hours, watch the movie, take the free ipad that guides you and also has a nice discovery game for the kids and start explore the place. The basement had a tv show exhibit which I guess was famous in Quebec, the first floor has a wonderful sense and science exhibit really well made and the top floor is mostly fossils, stones, and animals which was very interesting. Another plus of the museum is its location right on the gorge with some great views. Entrence is 13$ per adult and 9$ for age 5 up if you need a good place to pass time with the young ones this is a great option

Lots of original artifacts and tools. They did an archeological dig a while ago and found a ton of things that are now exposed. They have the option of an audio tour, or a tour with a guide (which we did). Tour is both in french and in english. Some interactive parts in the tour. Nice looking boutique. Great service by the employees (also always smiling). Coat hanging area provided. Second exposition about the city's oldest manufacturer available. The bad: You learn about the family, but not as much as the way of living in that era. Upstairs closed to the public (would be great to see an authentic bedroom). Manufacturer exposition is a little bland. If you go in without a guide, the tour will be VERY quick. Road from street to the house is very muddy. This was a great experience! We would definitely go back as they are still discovering things about the owners.

The boutique features pieces by local folk artists, which is a lovely way to discover regional talent. It was quiet when we visited -- surprisingly so -- and this museum deserves far more visitors. This was a must on our itinerary for our final day in Montreal. We did take a uber there but proudly walked back. This museum was massive with 5 floors of all different mediums of Art. It was an easy map to follow to show me what I must! See and others that I call a fast pass, no lingering allowed :) I didn't read about it in advance so was surprised to see some of my favorites included. I got to see a Rembrandt who I love but got tired of after teaching it to middle schoolers for 5 years. There was a lot of modern and abstract pieces that were magnificent you will see in the pictures. Sometimes museums can be confusing in the layout but this one was perfectly arranged in such a way that I loved that after 3 hours the bottoms of my feet hurt and then we made the journey back to our hotel. We had a wonderful time and had to go around twice to our favorite exhibits! I forget the exact price for entry but I was reasonable.

The staff members are very friendly (and are not afraid to speak in English if you do not know French) and the exhibits are very detailed and descriptive. As part of admission, they show you several interactive films as well (in English and French). Most importantly, you get to learn all about the life and efforts of a great inventor, of whom a major Canadian corporation for transportation products is named after. I visited in October of 2017.
