I ended up going with a soup and salad combo and got a half lobster/crab bisque along with a half shrimp avocado salad. Prices were decent, less than $15 for my meal (there were upcharges for some items). I enjoyed my meal and found it pretty filling. The soup was nice and warm and had a pretty good seafood flavor. Long story short, I've arrived around 11 a.m. on both previous visits and, as I have continued north of U.S. 59 toward my destination, my hot dogs from this location have had the consistency of something that has been on a convenience store roller for multiple hours. Further, the kraut on my most recent visit tasted like they ran it through rock tumbler alongside aluminum foil. Besides fried okra, hot dogs are my favorite food in the world. Not only have I checked in at hot dog joints and called them "Mecca," I've also attended City Council meetings and encouraged them to attract more hot dog places. This place needs to do better. I understand that employees probably arrive at the joint around 9 a.m. But could the manager ease up on the throttle with tossing dogs on the grill immediately? And the kraut ... it had a strong metallic taste this time around. I'm a little spoiled on kraut, since I make my own, but I can still stomach the canned stuff. This was beyond that.
