Usually, the staff levels are set so you will queue, often back to the door in stifling heat. Lots of windows for staff, but you'll never see more than five of the eight or more booths occupied. One time in four, you'll hear customers moaning, trying to get a group moan going after waiting fifteen minutes only to see staff just walk away from their position. I know they need breaks but it comes back to management here perpetually staffing this place inadequately. Though I will say, their core staff are a mature, confident and efficient bunch. Once you reach them. By the time of which you do though, you are so fed up.

It's a long narrow shop with not much room to display any other products so you have to look for jiffy bags and packaging an grab it as you queue up. There can be long queues at lunchtimes but they move quickly and the staff are efficient and helpful. It is positioned at the top of the pedestrianized section of Bracknell town centre. There is therefore no parking immediately outside but plenty of car parking a short walk away. It has both steps and a sloping entrance so is accessable for wheelchairs/ buggies but somewhat narrow inside.

Really, truly, open until 11pm 6 days a week (except the first Wednesday of the month, watch out for that). As someone who leaves things to the last minute and then needs a postmark for a particular date, the real-life, staffed post office counter inside Thornton's Budgens is a LIFESAVER. Please never change. Incidentally, Thornton's Budgens itself looks pretty nice, and hey, a place to buy groceries that's open late too!

After spending some time searching the internet and discovering so many people asking if there are any post offices in London open over the weekends, I stumbled upon a business listing for Belsize Park Post Office, which amazingly listed very long opening hours, which I thought must have been a mistake, however, I phoned them up and they confirmed that they are indeed open every Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening, and they are also open every Sunday afternoon. Not only that, they are also open late in the evening every week night. So I made my way to Belsize Park and bought a tax disc for my car, which I was pretty chuffed about. This is only a small post office branch located inside a Budgens supermarket store so it's strange that it seems to be the only post office in London that has such long opening times. It's not exactly local to me but I will certainly go there again if I need to use a post office late in the evening or at the weekend. It's a shame more post offices aren't open later longer! Lots of windows with a single queuing system so erven with the queue out of the door it is still usually less than 5-mins to get served - 5-mins is 4-mins more than the ideal but it isn't the staff on the ground's fault. In addition to post office counter also has a range of posting stuff to buy and some random electricals, children's activity books and pens etc. A separate counter for these which also sells stamps is a bonus.

I went there today (4th December) to get some stacks and was greeted by a very helpful and cheerful lady called Esther. She was able to assist me with questions to see if I could save time on queuing. She helped explain the self service areas where she showed me what to do to buy stamps. She was knowledgeable, very pleasant and such a breath of fresh air with her cheerful and care for the customer.
