Great new addition to the booming Westerpark! You have to experience the craft beers and the food to really get an idea as no review can do enough justice to this place. As with most things Dutch, it's the experience that matters. Troost has wonderful wooden seating outside, all freshly handmade, and shiny new, with heating. Inside, the environment is cozy and spacious, with furniture for groups of all sizes. The service is on the speedy side with enough staff on duty to keep the beers flowing. Speaking of beers, they brew inside the restaurant. You can actually see the brewing operation. There are 9 brews on tap and some other options as well, including wines and liquors. I really enjoyed my dark brew. The food menu is wonderful as well, with enough vegetarian options. I really liked the vegetarian lentil burger. The fries could have been better, though. The walls and columns have a really local feel to them. I welcome this new addition to my neighborhood and look forward to many more visits! read more

Came here at the recommendation of a friend after going to Fabrique des Lumieres nearby. Very chill place to hang out - plenty of outdoor seating if the weather is cooperating, as well as a variety of indoor seating for different sized groups. I was solo and tucked into a cozy corner in the back. Decided to try their beer flight, which unlike in the US, you don't choose which 4 beers you want to try, and they don't come in a tray with labels of which beer is which. The server will tell you, but I had to ask a couple of times and write it down so that I would know what I was tasting. I had a Strawberry Rhubarb something, a New England IPA, a Dunkelweizen and a Tripel. All were very tasty, but I am not a beer connoisseur. Great brewery find! Had 3 different beers and they all were delicious! we also had their cheese sticks which was not what we were expecting at all. They are cheese in like a wonton wrapper? We already knew we loved Troost beer, but we came to this location because the pictures of food I'd seen online looked delicious. We ordered the Honingblond and Tripel to wash down all that yummy food. I got the chicken satay, which was marinated, then covered in a thick, rich peanut sauce. I really enjoyed the pickled veggies on the side. Hubby loved his mountain of ribs, especially the barbecue sauce that came on the side. We sat outside on the terrace under the canopies built into the wooden picnic tables. They provide great shade in the summer and had heaters built into them for the colder months. If you love smelling brewing beer during your meal (like I do) sit inside and you'll be a happy camper. read more

Phenomenal beer. Really! Westergas is a bit out of the hubbub of Amsterdam but totally worth the tram ride. Tried a flight of beer and then a few others on Easter Monday when everything else was closed. The flatbreads are also really phenomenal light snacks and the nachos were great. One of my favorite places in western park. Very very good collection of their own brewed beers. I love triple, it has the highest alcohol percentage and taste is good too, totally love it. As I am vegetarian that is why I tried their vega burger which is just too good, patty was made of lentils and they serve it with avocado and cucumber pickle. We also ordered sweet potato fries, I would totally recommend those as you don't get those fries in most of the restaurants. There is something about breweries opening up their places to taste beers fresher than you could ever get them. We, my mum and I, decided to throw a little birthday party here. A few beers, a nice hamburger in the company of the people we love. And we do not only love the people, now also the place. The beers, although we did not try at all of them, are really nice and each one of them distinctive. The food to have on the side, or as a meal, is also good and not too expensive. The setting, Westergasterrein, fits the authenticity of the place, or the other way around. For us, looking for places, means looking for places where our kid is also welcome. This time we were pleasantly surprised. When entering Brouwerij Troost we already noticed lots of other people with kids. The staff is friendly and the place is spacious, to keep an eye on your kid the whole time. And of course, there is a baby changing table near the toilets (and this time not ONLY in the ladies room). Here visiting on holiday. The classing burger was possibly the best I've ever had and every beer was amazing. They had a live band playing (wed, July 10th of 19). The band was excellent and improved everything. Highly recommend this place. read more

Cool vibe here (at the early hours of 12:30 pm) and the beer selection is good and tasty. The NE hazy IPA is good for a European try. At least they are giving it a solid effort and performing well. The honey blonde, bock, and pale ale are all good tasting brews too. They are pouring 12 and I get the sense that the other 8 would be just as good as what I'm sampling with my 4. The bartender said the craft brew scene is taking off with many good breweries in the NE part of Amsterdam. Cheers to these cool guys! read more

Coming from Boulder, Colorado, where breweries are plentiful and mostly excellent, we were beyond impressed by Troost. The beers were without exception, excellent. We especially liked the New England IPA, and the regular IPA. The Amber is also excellent, as I am sure all the other beers are. We were served by a really nice guy who also brews and he was beyond helpful. He really knew a lot about the beers, and made us feel right at home. I can't recommend Troost any higher than that. Just go and enjoy. Oh, and BTW, avoid the place in a windmill that every concierge will try to send you to. It is a tourist trap and we avoided it. Also, our server recommended we try Oedipus Brewery next. We did, and it was also excellent. Also not a tourist place. Go to Oedipus also if you like craft beer. read more
