The location is close to downtown and has it's own parking area. I went to Amber because I was having some intense neck pains. She spent almost the entire hour working on that part of my body trying to help relieve the pain. I really appreciated how she went back and forth between using hot and cold temperatures and she seemed very present during the whole massage. She used a nice pressure and seemed to be very in tune with my body and my muscles. I felt SO much better after the massage and was completely relaxed. I can't wait to go back again.

I had exhausted all of my groupon options for cheap(er) massages and I took to Yelp to find a great local body work practitioner. Omra was a page back, but I really liked the sound and look of the place so I decided to schedule myself an appointment. Amber, my masseuse, scheduled me an appointment within three days of my call, which I'm sure you know around here is a big deal, some places are booked out for weeks ahead of schedule. She was willing to fit me in on the end of one of her standard scheduled days, so I was grateful before I even stepped foot through the door. Omra is located at a great space with an actual parking lot. Man, that is awesome. Up a couple of flights of stairs in a large shared building and you enter a magically relaxing room. It's cozy as cozy can be. It doesn't feel sterile, it feels loved, and well maintained. There's decorations all around the room that give this place a homey charm. It's like being invited into someone's house. Thoroughly relaxing. I'd love to give you the play by play of my 75 minute massage, but the fact is, it kind of knocked me out. I was put into this kind of weird half awake half dream state, where the massage felt like the longest, and most brief thing that has ever happened. The amount of pressure was perfect, even when I thought I wanted a bit more pressure to work out some sort of knot or twist I felt within my muscles I felt them relaxing and easing up. Super pleasant. I can't say enough nice things about Amber and Omra Bodywork. Truly. I've always ping ponged between places offering groupons, which I'm sure were a way to get me in the door of many of the spas, sanctuaries, and massage houses here in Asheville, but I never felt connected to them. Their rates without the groupon were well out of my budget. However, my full priced treatment at Omra was only slightly more than I've spent on deals at other places in the past, including the tip! I don't look forward to the next time that I need a massage, but at least I feel confident knowing that I have a prefered source of aid and relief when I do.

First, I could not use the website to book my appointment. When I called to book my appointment, I was told that the gift certificate expired. I read the disclaimer to the representative which states: Gift certificates are subject to the expiration date. If any set forth, on the face of the certificate, except where prohibited by applicable law. There is no expiration date on my gift certificate, still she insisted it expired. So I paid $25 to renew the gift certificate and booked my appointment for Massage on Wheels. On June 25th, the day of my massage, I actually forgot the massage was booked. No one called to confirm. I received a call from the company around 10:30 and immediately called them back. I explained to the gentleman that, yes I did forget, however this was supposed to be an in-home massage. He placed me on hold, and when he came back he said: Unfortunately, we did not have that this was to be an in-home massage and because you did not cancel within the two hours, we will need to charge you. I explained that I was not a no-call no-show you actually were and that they were not permitted to charge me credit card. I felt bad for the gentleman, because obviously he was relaying a message, just as the previous woman did, because the manager or owner does not have the courtesy to get on the phone. This is terrible customer service. Now I'm off to ensure they do not charge my credit card or I will need to file a formal complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs.

I've probably been to Cosmic Groove 5 times over the past five years and for the most part have had pretty good experiences. I just went back this month for the first time in a few years and wasn't so impressed though. My two biggest issues were that my massage therapist had BO and so I could smell her body odor every time she was near my head. It was a little distracting and not so relaxing having that smell around me. The second issue was that when I filled out my paperwork before the massage and wrote that I prefered no touch below the waist down that day and after the massage therapist finished my shoulders and back, she immediately started massaging my legs. I don't understand, she either didn't read the paper when she was looking over it or she forgot what she had read. That being said, all of my other experiences with them were pretty great. The studio is nothing fancy but it is comfortable and inviting. All of my interactions there have been friendly and warm. I'll be back for sure, I just hope not to see the same therapist unless she showers first.

A couple days prior to my appointment, I received an email reminder from him, and a phone call reminder the day before. His practice is located in Suite 111 in a small professional plaza just off Main St. I had to call him in order to find it, but here are some tips for other new clients: once you park in the little lot and are facing the building, go towards the left by the stairs. Once you find Suite 111, enter the door and he's in the second room on the right. Justin is very professional and friendly. I filled out a brief history form and he asked if I wanted the full body massage or more focused on back/neck/shoulders. I opted for the latter since I know how tight those areas are for me. He started out more gentle, but I have pretty high tolerance to pain so I asked him to increase the pressure, which he did. It was still relaxing, but I could definitely feel where the tightness and knots were once he increase the pressure. I am a hair stylist so my arms and back tend to have a lot of pain, I have some carpal tunnel as well. I do see a chiropractor so I know that this is a long term thing I have to fix but my experience with Erin at haw ridge has just completely blown Me away.
