I'm never one to put down a thrift store, but I will NEVER step foot in here again. This used to be brown roof thrift store until they were recently bought/rebranded with classy upscale resale. My sister and I stopped by this past Saturday and found some really nice stuff in the window display. Specifically a little Prada bag and a little coach wallet. I stepped inside and asked if we were allowed to purchase, which I was told the manager said they could not sell those items until Monday. Keep in mind, they are on display and they are all priced, but whatever. Then proceeded to go this morning, approximately 20 minutes after they open. Checking the window display and seeing the bag is NO LONGER THERE. I ask if I can purchase the items on display, when I am told that I cannot. That the woman that runs the window display (not the manager now!) will not be selling them until later this week, and she would be there tomorrow and I could come back if I wanted. I proceeded to remind her that she was the same girl I talked to on Saturday and that she told me I could come back to purchase them on Monday. I knew they had to be full of shit because anyone that has ever worked at thrift store knows that they want to rummage through everything before they sell it to the public, and I knew that's exactly what was happening. I then proceeded to get my mom to call and they tell her that we can purchase the clothing items, but not any products in the window display. At that point, it is not worth going back because it is now under poor management and people who can't be honest with you about the shit that they are selling. Do not display and price items and then try to say they aren't for sale!!! Then when I come back they're mysteriously gone??? ZERO STARS. read more

This used to be a good place to shop but since they transfer owners the prices when double high! Regular T-shirts from Shen and Waltmart are $9.99 and UP, Ross dresses for up to $24.99 shoes varies on style but everything is way overpriced, You have to wait for the cashier to open the bathroom door. Prices are crazy high for used goods. Most shirts are $9.99 and up. The selections are grouped by name brand and then some aisles by sizes. Organized store I'll give them that. However it's dark, there's no AC, so it's hot, and so overpriced. read more

What a great concept! A new thrift store in town that serves tea and coffee. It has a high-end feel, but with low-end pricing. You feel at home here. Sit and read, have some coffee, shop their well-manicured, quality discounted clothing. Calming atmosphere, fantastic aromas. The neatest place! I stopped in because I am a huge fan of any thrift store, and boy was I in for a surprise. This place is too notch with the addition of its adorable little coffee shop. The coffee is out of this world and I cannot say enough about it, it's reasonable and always made fresh. I have never had a bad coffee here, and I will continue to return again and again over any coffee place in Spartanburg! The thrift store side is hit or miss, I have found some gems in this store, and some days I leave empty handed, but that is just how it is when you thrift store buy. I will say I think sometimes their prices are a little high on certain items, for a thrift store. However, many items are well worth what you pay for them. The feel of the place is very urban, and recycled, which I love and is super in right now. The chalk board paint for where they display their prices is edgy and different, in a good way! Always coming in, even if it's just to grab a cup of coffee! And last but not least, EXCELLENT customer service, friendly, and they are willing to help you with anything you need. read more

This isn't your grandmother's local Goodwill store. It's like Barnes & Noble and Goodwill had a kid! I love the staff. One girl commented about my Vans shoes, and the other commented on the Deep Purple shirt I was wearing. As far as their coffee, I've only had an espresso that woke me up like no tomorrow. But I'm so sold on the idea of a cafe slash thrift store. All they need is Wi-Fi (if they ever get it soon). Great selection of items (like you usually see in Goodwill). I have yet to walk out with some music CDs and videogames, though. Softcover books are 75 cents, and hardcover books are a dollar and fifty cents. Pretty fair in my opinion. :) Of all the thrift stores around in Spartanburg, you should definitely check this one out first! read more

I love how curated this place is. It doesn't totally feel like a thrift store. My only issue is the lack of men's wear and how high some of the prices are. I would expect those prices in Greenville but not in Hub City. At least not yet. read more

What a great hidden gem in Spartanburg! A cool little coffee shop in a thrift store. First we got awesome shoes for our daughter in the thrift store. 2nd the coffee shop is awesome--very cool atmosphere, great selection, and unbelievable staff. Wonderful sitting area to read, drink, etc. read more

This cafe/thrift store is the cutest. It's such a good idea to have a little cafe in a thrift store. I loved the decor throughout the store. I loved the little details from the handwritten signs to the paintings on the walls. I shopped around with some friends then we had a seat for some coffee. We had such a fun time here. I would definitely come back here to shop, read, have coffee, and relax. It's such a cozy place that makes you feel like you can escape from the world for just a little bit. It's a good place to come to. I really enjoyed my time here at Brown roof. read more

I agree that TBR has potential for awesomeness. It is attractive, reasonably priced, and a generally great thrift store. As a cafe, it is well laid out. The only drawback is that the staff (who are SUPER nice) blast Christian rock and rap and this makes it impossible to sit in the cafe and read, talk or meditate. Buy your thrift items and books and coffee to go, and flee! (Also--sometimes the music is low and reasonable, then begins to blast...) read more
